Chapter 1242: Chapter 1236 Unexpected_1 Chapter 1242: Chapter 1236 Unexpected_1 “Sister-in-law, are you heading back?” Li Zhao asked from the living room, looking up from the report he was reading as Qin Xue and the others came out,

“Yes, Chu Molin is coming back this afternoon, so we need to leave. Otherwise, he’ll come home to an empty house.” Qin Xue smiled.

“My mom was hoping to make you stay for dinner before you leave.” Upon hearing this, Li Zhao wasn’t sure whether to urge them to stay or not.

“Maybe next time, not today. As for An Hao, you’ll need to put in a bit more effort. Add some perilla when you cook fish, it enhances the flavor and eliminates any fishiness.” Qin Xue recommended, remembering how beneficial perilla was for health.

“Alright, thank you, sister-in-law. I don’t know what we would have done without you today. Even with all our efforts, we couldn’t help An’an much.” The Lis had tried everything they could, but to little effect.

“No need for thanks, she’s just overwhelmed by the child. Spend more time with her, help out with the baby, and let her rest. I checked her pulse before we left and there doesn’t seem to be any problems, so you don’t need to worry.” Qin Xue reassured them as she left.

“Alright then, I won’t insist on keeping you here. We can have dinner another time.” Li Zhao, knowing that Chu Molin was on his way home, didn’t want him to arrive to an empty house.

“Sure, after An Hao finishes her confinement period, bring the kid and come over to our place for dinner.” Qin Xue would have invited them over the next day, but An Hao’s confinement period wasn’t over yet and Li Zhao should stay with her, so she decided to extend the invitation for a later date.

“Okay.” Li Zhao wasn’t formal with Qin Xue since they were familiar with each other. Being too polite could even make things uncomfortable.

After Qin Xue shared some tips with Li Zhao on how to make tastier meals, they bid farewell to The Lis.

It’s not that the meals at The Lis wasn’t good. It’s just that people in their confinement period are supposed to eat bland food, which can leave the mouth tasteless and affect their appetite, which is a normal occurrence.

“Sister-in-law, are we going back immediately? Or do we want to stop by our place?” Chu Xiaoqiao had planned to take the baby home to show his paternal grandparents. But with the delay at An Hao’s, she didn’t have the time.

Now she wanted Qin Xue and others to visit their place, but she didn’t know how to invite them home. So she chose to suggest visiting their own home instead, so as not to force her family’s visit onto Qin Xue and risk making her feel uncomfortable. Chu Xiaoqiao was indeed very clever in many ways.

“No need, aren’t you and grandma going over to our place for lunch tomorrow? She’ll see the baby then, so we’ll go ahead first.” Qin Xue didn’t feel like making the trip, and would only go after Chu Molin had made his peace with The Chus.

She had always believed that as husband and wife, she shouldn’t do things that Molin disapproved of, as it could harm their relationship.

“Alright then, you guys wait for me at the gate. I’ll go tell grandma to come over for lunch tomorrow, and I’ll stay over at your place tonight.” Chu Xiaoqiao handed the baby to Xue Ling, and before Qin Xue could respond, she ran off.

“Master, should we wait for her in that pavilion over there, or outside?” Xue Ling pointed at a nearby pavilion and asked Qin Xue.

“Let’s wait in the pavilion.” Qin Xue thought it’d be tiring to stand holding the baby, so sitting would be better.

“Grandma, I’m back.” Chu Xiaoqiao hollered as she entered the house.

“If you’re back, you’re back. No need to holler.” Zhao Xuezhi scolded her daughter as she emerged from the kitchen.

“Mom, what are you doing at home? Didn’t you have work today?” Chu Xiaoqiao was surprised to find her mother at home.

Normally, her mother was very busy. Seeing her at this time was really unexpected, hence Xiaoqiao’s surprise.

“I attended a meeting, just came back to grab some stuff. What’s all this excitement about?” Zhao Xuezhi asked her daughter.

“Oh, it’s nothing really. Sister-in-law Qin asked grandma to come over for lunch tomorrow, and I’m going to stay at brother’s place tonight. So, I thought I’d let everyone at home know.” Chu Xiaoqiao didn’t want her family to worry, so she thought it best to let them know.
