Now that his wife was pregnant with a baby younger than their grandchild, they had their doubts. But thinking about An’an being left all alone without any kin to accompany her when they eventually pass away, they decided to keep the child.

“Alright, thank you all for your efforts.” An Ruge hung up the phone and returned to the room. Seeing his wife still asleep, he didn’t know whether to wake her up or not.

“Ruge, why are you standing there? You could have slept a little longer.” Xiao Xiang’er felt someone was standing by and was startled. Once she saw her husband, she calmed down.

“An’an is about to give birth.” An Ruge couldn’t stop smiling, but deep down he was worried and aggrieved.

“She’s in labor? Ruge, get my clothes quickly. I need to be by her side. An’an must be scared now.” Upon hearing this, Xiao Xiang’er freaked out. Her daughter must be fearful and insecure. As a mother, she must be there with her.

“You’re right. Then get me something to eat quickly. Keep it simple.” Upon hearing this, Xiao Xiang’er thought it made sense. Therefore, she asked her husband to prepare food for her, as his cooking was better.

So since their marriage, apart from when they eat at the canteen, he would always prepare meals at home.

Xiao Xiang’er usually assisted. Meal preparation was faster this way, allowing them to get back to work right away. They didn’t have much time to spend with their child, and that’s why An’an lived with her grandparents and was raised by them. Therefore, their relationship with their daughter seemed a bit strained.
