Chapter 67 Jack Is Sick With Cancer
Chapter 67: Chapter 67 Jack Is Sick With Cancer
Setting the last can of jam on the table, Kingsley pulled out a chair and made himself comfortable on it. His eyes lingered on Jasmine’s body as she also sat down, looking refreshed.
A small smile tucked at the side of his lips. He loved the idea of her wearing his shirt all of a sudden. Her small frame inside his big shirt made him hard but he’ll bear with it....for now.
She needed to eat to be able to carry out their activities for the day.
"Mhm. They smell so good." Jasmine moaned in delight as she scooped some vegetables onto her plate.
"I hope you like all of the meals," Kingsley uttered before sipping from his glass of water.
"I like everything you make."
It was a simple compliment but Kingsley’s groin throbbed in excitement. Fuck!
This was one of the reasons he didn’t want to go that far with her the previous night. His body craved Jasmine more than she could imagine.
Clearing his throat, he tried to divert his attention from actually pinning Jasmine on the table and taking her from behind.
"I know we’re on vacation and work should not be talked about but..." he tapped his finger on the table when he got Jasmine’s attention. "Raymond reported to me that Jack was found in the hospital. Digging further, he discovered Jack is sick with Cancer."
Jasmine tightened her grip on her fork. "He’s even a sick person." All of a sudden, she felt bitter.
"Apparently." Kingsley pushed a napkin towards Jasmine before he added. "Still want to carry out your plan of revenge?" He asked.
"Of course. He is sick, oh well...that’s his cup of coffee, not mine." Jasmine shrugged and Kingsley smirked before shoving a meatball into his mouth.
Not getting a reply from him, Jasmine raised her head to look at Kingsley who happened to be staring back at her while munching on the meat. "Why? You want to pull out?"
"I never insinuated that."
Jasmine frowned. "Then why are you not saying anything regarding the plan?"
"I already have things under control. I plan on making him beg for his work." Kingsley’s movement was flawless as he reached for his phone, his long slender fingers tapped on the screen before he handed the phone over to Jasmine.
Jasmine narrowed her eyes at him before taking the phone from him, her eyes fell on the screen and they quickly widened when she saw the files on his phone. "This..."
Kingsley grinned from ear to ear. "Of course. I’m sabotaging his project. His company will fall and he’ll beg to leave it behind."
"Isn’t this the project your group and the others will be bidding for?? How did Jack get it??"
"Did you check the bidding list? Did you find the Elm group there??" Kingsley was nonchalant.
Jasmine knitted her brows. "Several groups were lined up there but I don’t think I saw yours." Suspicion filled her face as she asked. "What are you planning to do?"
Again, Kingsley shrugged. "Nothing major. For the last two years, I’ve cornered Jack Raven. Getting a project like this is his biggest goal at the moment. Reasons why he partnered with your father to gain stability in the business world. If he gets this project, he’ll be fine for a while."
"Why don’t you take the project then? I don’t want Jack Raven to be fine!" Jasmine thundered. Annoyance dripped from her eyes.
"I play fair and square."
Frowning, Jasmine burst out. "What do you mean by that?"
"Jack will get the project. He has already done some foul play behind the scenes and if you noticed, The Elm group is not on the bidding list along with several other big corporations including the Trevor’s groups. Simply because we know that the owner of the project is a corrupt man." Kingsley stretched his hand to take back his phone which Jasmine handed over to him.
"That’s even better. You can snatch it from him." Jasmine grumbled. "He shouldn’t have a chance to rise from what will hit him."
Kingsley chuckled lowly. "You sound very wicked these days."
Jasmine pursed her lips a little. "Dark side?"
Kingsley hummed and Jasmine shrugged. "I think everyone has that."
"I couldn’t agree less." Kingsley pushed a plate of fried chicken towards Jasmine. She muttered a low ’thank you’ to him.
"As for Jack, he will get the project because the whole bid is a cover-up, he already has the project in his hand."
Jasmine pushed a mouthful of rice into her mouth while staring at Kingsley as he explained.
"But I will sabotage the project, making sure it finally cripples him." Kingsley snickered. " At the moment, he is happy with himself because he just banged a project through a shady deal."
Jasmine finally understood what Kingsley had been driving out. "Not bad."
"I know." Nodding at her, Kingsley mumbled. "Keep eating. You grow weak easily."
"I don’t."
Kingsley folded his arms around his chest. "Oh yes, you do. You kept snoring nonstop yesterday as if you were run over by a trailer."
Jasmine rolled her eyes. "I think you shouldn’t bring that up. You know what you did." She pointed her fork at him with a warning look on her face. "You did the worst. And you were more than a trailer."
A proud smile formed on Kingsley’s face as he pushed himself forward, his elbows were on the table as he grinned at Jasmine. "You mean, I hit you harder than a trailer would have done."
"There’s no trailer."
Kingsley smirked. "Of course. We don’t need one since we have my little rod to drive you hard."
"Narcissist."
"Oh no, that wasn’t the name you screamed." Kingsley leaned back on his chair as he mimicked her. "You whimpered ’Oh fuck me, Kingsley.’ "
Jasmine dropped her spoon on the table with a slam. "You’re so shameless."
Kingsley let out a throaty laughter before saying. "You get so embarrassed quickly, Wifey. Come on, we’re married."
Jasmine stood up from her chair while growling. "Not real marriage."
Kingsley’s face fell as he groaned. "We are legally married! We wedded at the altar so it was real..."
Jasmine turned to face him, her throat going sour. "But the vows weren’t real. We have a mission." She argued back. Fighting back her tears because that was the reality. They started on the wrong foot and now, she was helplessly in love with this shameless man who knew how to love her body.
Kingsley snapped. "Maybe to you, it wasn’t. But my vows were real. I made those vows so you don’t get to doubt its authenticity."
Jasmine’s lips pried open, shocked to the bones by his confession. "You..."
"That’s enough. I think I’ve made my point clear. No matter how you see it, you are the woman I married and I took a real wedding vow and you are my wife."
"You..." Jasmine trailed off again. Kingsley stood up to grab the plates from the table.
"You should go get dressed. We’re heading out soon." With that, he exited the room and entered the kitchen.
Jasmine stood there, dumbstruck. Was that a confession?? If he thinks the marriage is real, does that mean he loves me??
’Then why can’t he just say the words??’ Jasmine grumbled in her head before she turned to her heels to go back into her room but she decided against it.
Jasmine helped carry the remaining bowls to the kitchen. Kingsley was taking out the remnants into a basket that was placed under the sink.
Noticing her presence, Kingsley turned around to see her holding two bowls. "You don’t need to be here, I can do this on my own. You should go take a shower."
Jasmine walked past him and placed the bowls into the sinks. "No. I want to help out."
Kingsley bit his tongue. Wondering how he was going to tell her that he couldn’t work in the same space as her. Not with her wearing his shirt. Or how delicious she was looking.
"Turn on the water faucet for me, I’ll do the dishes," Jasmine announced, holding on to a soap.
Kingsley shook his head. "No, let’s use the dishwater instead."
"No, I want to use my hand," Jasmine argued.
"I don’t want you washing plates whatsoever, Jasmine. You do better stuff." He finalized. Jasmine opened her lips to argue back but he quickly raised his forefinger. "It’s not up for discussion!"
Jasmine sighed before dropping the soap. "Good girl. Now wash your hands and dry them off with the hand towel." Kingsley coached and Jasmine rolled her eyes without saying a word. She did as told.
"So I can’t help with anything??" Jasmine pouted and Kingsley sighed.
Nodding towards the small drawer under, Kingsley instructed. "Grab a disinfectant for me there."
Happy to be assisting, Jasmine quickly bent over to the drawer. Her movement was abrupt, making the shirt push up to her back, cold air blew her round white ass that popped out. In that split second, Kingsley’s eyes widened, he quickly swallowed the lump in his throat when he saw that image...
He cursed under his breath as he lunged at Jasmine. "Fuck.."
