Reborn Heiress: Married To My Ex-Husband's Rival -
Chapter 63 Mr Romantic
Chapter 63: Chapter 63 Mr Romantic
The time moved rather slowly for Jasmine as they used the remaining hours to unpack. It wasn’t a bad idea coming over and soon, she began to really fancy the idea of coming to this secluded place.
Kingsley left her alone in the bedroom, he went to the living room to handle some work.
He was on a Skype call with Raymond, discussing the event Raymond was to attend in his stead.
Raymond gave him an overall summary of what happened when he arrived. Even though this man was a business associate, Kingsley never really liked him and that was why he readily shoved Raymond into the situation. He would rather cultivate a farm than attend any of the man’s events.
Meanwhile, Jasmine was in a phone conversation with Nicole.
"How would you do it??" Jasmine asked while rubbing the bridge between her brows.
"I already informed the staff at Hailey’s school that I’m just a single mother but they clearly stated that to participate in the sport, the children can only play with their father, not their mother because of the nature of the game." Nicole let out a frustrated sigh. "I tried to explain to Hailey the reason we can’t join but she got upset because her friends would be participating with their dads too but she..."
"You can rent a dad, yeah?" Jasmine suggested.
"I can’t brazenly leave my daughter in the hands of a total stranger all because of a game! And also, I just resumed work, haven’t had my paycheck yet and I’m not going to take money from you." Nicole grunted.
"Why?"
"You’ve done more than enough already. Let me figure out my shit by myself." Nicole sounded sure, chanting to herself that she had everything under control. "I can handle this."
Jasmine creased her brows as she got off the bed and walked towards the window, looking down at the pool and tent below. "And how do you plan on handling it?? Hailey is a smart kid, if she was able to get this upset about just a game, she probably would have been brooding over the matter."
"Which is??"
"Not having a dad," Jasmine said as a matter of fact which made Nicole frown.
"What are you insinuating?" Nicole’s back stiffened from the other end. She was in her office cafeteria. It was lunch break so she had spare time to talk with Jasmine.
"Get yourself out of your cobweb and mingle, get a good man to be your boyfriend. It’s time to move on, Nicole." Jasmine paced from the window to the middle of the room as she emphasized her suggestions. "You can’t continue keeping to yourself. You need a man to help you with this stuff, and Hailey needs a father figure even though he won’t be her biological dad."
Nicole pushed her cappuccino away from her as she straightened her back. "Look, I understand you, Jasmine but I can’t get involved with another Adam after what happened. Also, I think I’m doing well taking care of my daughter on my own. I don’t need a man, thank you."
Jasmine shrugged while rubbing her temple to relieve the stress there. "Okay then. Suit yourself."
"Sure, I will." Nicole sighed before taking her cappuccino and took a large gulp before she changed the topic. "Right. Tell me all about the trip. How’s it so far?? Where’d he take you to in Chicago?"
Jasmine giggled before she moved back to the bed and laid on her back, a bright smile on her face as she stared up at the ceiling. "He took me to this private area in Chicago. He owns the place and no one lives here except us. It’s just me and him here but I think I like it."
"Mr Romantic." Nicole chortled.
Jasmine rolled her eyes as she blushed. "We’re in his private condo, a very fancy and luxurious one. With a pool outside, a tent, a barbecue spot, and many other good stuff. I am so ready to explore the area once I get the chance."
"You should, girl. Take photos too."
Jasmine laughed. "That’s a necessity. I bought a medium-sized camera because of this trip and it isn’t going to be a waste."
Their girl’s talk continued for a while before Kingsley knocked on the door, making Jasmine pause in her roll of laughter.
Kingsley pushed open the door and their eyes found each other immediately.
"Are you busy??" Kingsley inquired as he stared at her figure who was laid on the bed like a sacrificial lamb ready to be devoured.
"Umm, why??" Jasmine pushed the phone away from her ear a little as she stared at Kingsley from the bed.
"I was preparing to go over to the little pond a few walks away. Don’t know if you would want to tag along??"
Hearing that, Jasmine’s eyes sparkled. She didn’t forget she was on call, she quickly said to Nicole. "Hey.." but Nicole cut in on her words.
"Go!!! Lunch break is over so I’m going back to work. Have fun." Nicole ended the call after letting out a knowing laughter.
Instantly, Jasmine nodded as she jumped out of the bed. "Of course. I’m tagging along."
Kingsley’s eyes wandered from her head to her small feet that were covered in white socks. "With those little feet of yours??"
Jasmine stared down at her feet before looking at Kingsley. "What happened to them??"
Kingsley sighed before shaking his head. "Hold on, I’ll go get you thick boots that will aid your walking." With that, he left the room only to return later with brown thick boots with a rough surface under them.
Jasmine quickly wore the boots that matched with Kingsley’s boots. She was in a great mood as they walked out of the room, heading to the living room.
"You’re so prepared," Jasmine commented when she saw the basket, Fishing Rod and Reel on the floor.
"Of course, we’re having a barbecue night close to the pool later at night."
Even the idea of it made Jasmine anticipate. "Okay then." With that, they set out of the house.
The bone-chilling breeze hit their faces immediately they stepped out. Their boots sank into the heap of snow as they walked out of the house. Kingsley led the way as they walked on foot.
Jasmine twisted her lips when she saw Kingsley’s parked car was covered in thick and heavy snow. "Poor car."
She muttered to herself.
Kingsley who was at the front holding the fishing rod and basket chuckled. "You’re far behind. Come closer so you don’t get eaten by a deer."
Hearing that a deer was in the area, Jasmine quickly rushed to meet him at the front. She was holding a flask containing water. "I didn’t realize deers could be living here too."
Kingsley gave her a side look before taunting her. "Yes, there are numerous deers here. So stay close to me because I’m the only one here who won’t hurt you." He turned to look at her again, but this time, his gaze was deep as several emotions twirled in his eyes.

A string of curses and grumbles flooded into Kingsley’s ears, ruining his mood for the better part of the time spent fishing.
Jasmine kept grumbling nonstop because she wasn’t catching any fish. Her efforts seemed to be mocked by the fishes. Meanwhile, Kingsley had already caught the desired amount of fish needed for barbecue but Jasmine insisted on catching one by herself.
Minutes turned to hours and Jasmine was being too stubborn about it. She won’t let it go.
"I think they caught the bait," Jasmine said as her eyes sparkled and Kingsley just rolled his eyes from where he was sitting.
He was sitting on a rock near the pond as he sipped from his hot coffee while Jasmine kept trying to catch a fish on her own.
"Do you need help?" Kingsley asked again for the umpteenth time but as usual, Jasmine declined.
"No, I can do this on my own," Jasmine mumbled before pulling the rod out and to her disappointment, it was empty.
Jasmine crashed to the ground with a pained expression. "Why are the fishes so biased here?? They allow only a man to catch them."
Kingsley wordlessly watched her struggle as he sipped from his coffee again. He enjoyed watching her grumble, mumble, curse, and struggle until she would finally learn to ask for his help.
"How do you do it so that they immediately catch your bait??" Jasmine asked helplessly.
Kingsley raised a brow at her. "Want help now??" He silently shook his head as he stared at Jasmine.
"I think so."
Kingsley hummed before setting the cup of coffee back into his bag after locking the top. "You’ve been doing it the wrong way all along." He said as he came near her.
He positioned himself behind her making Jasmine press her back against his chest. His breathing came near her nape as he whispered. "I’ll teach you." He said with a serious expression but to Jasmine, it was so tempting as if he was seducing her.
Her skin turned red as he leaned closer to her.
His hands trailed her arms down until he wrapped his hands around hers that were holding the rod. His remaining words made Jasmine lose focus. "Now, this is how to fish."
