Chapter 21: Chapter 21 Let’s Break Up!

"Isn’t that Jack Raven??" A female reporter watching the Elm’s mansion for a while now exclaimed in the car she was sitting in.

Her three other colleagues started to pay attention to the man in all black lurking around the mansion.

"It has to be him." A male reporter said as he readied his camera.

"Let’s get him." One of the ladies sitting in the front seat ushered the others and they quickly jumped out of their car as they all rushed with their recording equipment.

"Mr Raven." The head reporter who led the others said as they all rushed towards Jack.

Jack was taken by surprise by their sudden appearance. He quickly ran away but they chased after him while recording.

"Wait, are you looking for ways to kill your ex-fiancée??"

"Mr Jack, what is your next move after the public embarrassment?? And getting dumped by your bride on the aisle??"

"Rumor has it that your company has been suffering a major decline due to your misbehavior,is that correct??"

Questions kept flooding out of their mouth as they chased after Jack.

"Fuck." Jack cursed under his breath as he ran through a corner, trying to create a safe distance between him and the reporters.

He ran along the narrow space between two tall buildings, a road was ahead of him. Just when he was about to reach there, a white car drove out of nowhere with the window down.

"Get in." A lady’s voice said, she was wearing a black mask. Jack quickly rushed over and opened the car door.

The car soon zoomed off, Jack sighed in relief as he pulled his baseball cap off, and a string of curses left his mouth in between.

"You almost got yourself in trouble." The lady said as she drove the car out of there, leaving behind the reporters.

Jack sighed as he rested his head on the chair to calm his racing heart. "I never thought you would come get me, babe." He said before turning to look at her side profile. He eyed her a little with a smile on his face. "Take off your mask." He said.

The lady threw him a side glance before focusing on the road again. She waited for a while before taking off the mask, revealing her blonde hair and beautiful face.

She had full red lips and brown eyes and above-the-shoulder blonde hair.

She handed the mask to Jack who threw it in the back seat.

A smirk formed on Jack’s face as he called her name. "Lucinda, I’m glad you’re back. I’ve missed you so very much, babe."

The lady, Lucinda turned to look at him and then a scoff followed as she mocked him. "You’re still so obsessed with her, right?" Her eyes narrowed slightly as she tried to overtake a slow truck carrying loads. They were on the highway and she was running impatient.

Jack snorted at her. "That’s a silly thing for you to say, you know I only have eyes for you, babe."

Lucinda questioned. "Then what is this all about?? You spying on her every now and then when you could be focusing on reclaiming your status in public and controlling your company." She snapped at him, she was so irritated by him.

Jack ran a hand through his hair as he argued back. "I can’t let Jasmine live freely after damaging my life. She caused all these and she will pay for it." He balled his fists as his eyes reddened as if he was already imagining Jasmine falling on her feet and begging for her life.

Lucinda slammed on the brakes and it jerked Jack forward, he almost hit his head on the dashboard. A yelp left his mouth when the seatbelt pulled him back. Turning to face Lucinda, he growled. "What the hell was that??" He asked but he earned a slap in return.

His head hit the door due to the impact of the slap, his left cheek tinged as the hotness spread on his face, leaving his mouth open in shock. He quickly held his cheek to suppress the pain as he turned to face Lucinda while glaring at her.

Lucinda chided. "Are you a fool?? The public knows you sent her death threats so if anything should happen to her, nobody will need a soothsayer to tell them that you are the one responsible for it. At this point, you should pray she remains healthy because if someone else were to hurt her, the public will think that you did it and your whole career would be ruined without remains." Her eyes flushed red in anger.

Jack kept looking at her, he couldn’t even say a word and that made Lucinda slam the steering wheels. "I only came to get you from there because I have something very important to say to you." She started, making Jack’s eyes flicker, anxiety crawling up to his skin.

His heart silently drummed in his ears as he stared at Lucinda as if she was about to take his life.

When he finally found his voice, he whispered. "Lucinda.."

But she quickly cut his words short. "Let’s break up." She finalized, making Jack gasped.

He hurriedly grabbed her hands as he persuaded her. "Please, don’t do this to me, Babe. You know I only have you now. I promise I will get back my company and...and we will travel to all your dream countries."

Lucinda shoved his hands away from hers as she shooed. "Stop it, Jack. Just stop it, you are nothing now and I do not think you can ever pick up yourself due to how bad your reputation is. You are ruined now." She gushed out.

Jack was shocked by her outburst. "Babe, you know I was never like this, Jasmine caused all of this. Babe..." he was on the verge of tears as he tried to hold her hand again but she glared hard at him.

"Well, if you want me then go work hard and earn millions of dollars before coming to me. Before then, I need a break from you and your madness. I can’t suffer with you and you know it. Now, get out of my car." She rebuked him, Jack shook his head.

"I’m not leaving." He denied it as he grabbed Lucinda’s hand and pointed at the engagement ring on her finger, made of Diamond. "See this ring?? I engaged you already and you are my fiancée. You have to stick with me even now." He explained but Lucinda only chuckled before removing her hand from his grip forcefully.

With a mocking smile on her face, while looking at Jack, Lucinda removed the ring from her finger.

Jack was shocked when he saw her action. Lucinda threw the ring on his body before she barked at him. "There, you have your ring. Now, bounce out of my car!" She snarled at him.

Jack’s eyes blinked multiple times as he stared at the ring that was staring back at him on his hoodie. He took the ring and he sadly rubbed it with his thumb. His eyes were clouded with tears as he shook his head. "I can’t live without you, Lucinda. Please, don’t go."

Lucinda sighed before resting her hand on the wheels. She silently told him, much calmer now. "If you want me...then get rich soon even if it means hurting anyone. Especially Jasmine, if you can get her, kingsley would give in to your terms and you can become wealthy if you play your cards well." She advised Jack who was seemingly lost in thoughts, considering her words.

"If I do all that, you will get married to me?" He asked with skepticism. Lucinda nodded.

"Yup." She responded, Jack lowered his head again and he didn’t notice the secret smile that has enveloped Lucinda’s face. A satisfied smirk formed on her face, she couldn’t wait for things to start falling into place for her.
