Chapter 88: In the soup, ingredients were added.
Su Guisheng visited Guaizi’s home early in the morning, smiling and deferential, "Big brother, how is your wound feeling? Donghua instructed me to kill a chicken this morning and simmer some soup especially for you. She told me to invite big brother over for some soup, saying you needed to be nourished."
Old Guaizi’s body was indeed in no serious condition, according to Sixth Master, he could have the stitches removed today. Strangely enough, despite having sustained multiple external injuries, he didn’t feel much pain.
Hearing Su Guisheng’s words, he waved his hand, "Why bother with all that fuss, Xiaofeng will take me to Doctor Ye’s place to have the stitches removed later."
Upon hearing that big brother was going to have the stitches removed today, Su Guisheng laughed and said, "Big brother, what’s this saying again, ah, right, ’One who survives a great disaster is destined for good fortune.’ It’s not urgent to remove the stitches right at this moment, is it? And the sisters-in-law, they’re going too, aren’t they?"
As Su Guisheng spoke, he started to call people over.
"Fatty and Pengzi have gone to the city."
"Xiaofeng is at home, right?" Su Guisheng glanced at Xiaofeng’s room, where the door was firmly shut, suggesting she hadn’t woken up yet, and raised his voice, "Xiaofeng, your uncle has simmered a chicken soup early this morning. Don’t bother preparing breakfast at home, come over to your uncle’s house for breakfast."
Su Xiaofeng opened the door and stepped out from inside, her eyes briefly meeting Su Guisheng’s as she spoke indifferently, "There’s no need for breakfast. I will first take my dad to remove the stitches."
"How can you not have breakfast?" Su Guisheng immediately became anxious upon hearing this, "People are iron, food is steel; without a meal, the hunger is real. Big brother is sick and already low on strength. If he skips breakfast, he’ll be even weaker. Big brother, drinking more chicken soup is good for your health. If Xiaofeng doesn’t want to eat, that’s fine, but you must go."
Unable to withstand Su Guisheng’s enthusiastic insistence, Old Guaizi followed Su Guisheng to his house.
Su Xiaofeng’s eyes narrowed slightly as she followed behind.
Seeing Xiaofeng following along, Su Guisheng scoffed inwardly, "Little wench, I can still handle you."
"Xiaofeng, big brother is going to have the stitches removed, right? It’ll be fine if my dad and I accompany big brother. You’re a woman; it’s not convenient for you to be at big brother’s side. How about this, your aunt went down to the fields early in the morning. You stay at home and keep an eye on things for me, we’ll be back soon." After breakfast, Su Guisheng, supporting Old Guaizi, insisted on accompanying him to have the stitches removed.
"No need for that, Xiaofeng accompanying me is enough," Old Guaizi felt surprised by Su Guisheng’s sudden burst of enthusiasm.
There’s something off about Guisheng today.
"Xiaofeng is a girl, and Doctor Ye and the others are men; it’s not appropriate," Su Guisheng said naturally, "Xiaofeng, you stay and watch the house, we’ll accompany your dad to have the stitches removed."
Su Xiaofeng nodded, seemingly in agreement.
Su Guisheng glanced at Xiaofeng, calculating in his mind how many bowls of chicken soup she had just drunk.
Two bowls or three.
It must have been three bowls.
This damn girl, it’s been centuries since she had chicken soup, behaving as if it’s not worth mentioning. Yet, when offered, she downs three bowls, such a wasteful thing—it’s a good thing she wasn’t born in his household. Such a wasteful thing; no amount of meat would ever be enough for her to eat.
Su Xiaofeng watched Su Guisheng helping her father out of the village, a slight smile curling at the corner of her mouth. With her Divine Sense, she asked Xiaoqi, "Xiaoqi, which tastes better, chicken soup or brown sugar water?"
Xiaoqi rubbed his belly, looking utterly satisfied, "Of course, the chicken soup tastes better. Master, are you sure he’s really your uncle? Why was there something extra in the soup?"
"Didn’t you like it?" Su Xiaofeng’s eyebrows lifted gently.
"I feel sleepy," Xiaoqi closed his lovely eyes, "So sleepy, that extra ingredient makes me want to sleep."
Extra ingredient? Xiaofeng let out a cold, short laugh.
Of course, he is my uncle.
But whether he deserves to be my uncle, well, that’s another matter.
