Chapter 83: 081 Alien Dog
Tian Sangsang put down the knife in her hand and asked in astonishment, "Son, what is this thing?"
Playing with the white-furred creature, Meng Shuyan glanced at her and replied seriously, "Mom, I don’t know either. It came from the back hill and followed me all the way here."
Tian Sangsang felt a bit dizzy — it turns out her son really does have that special charm for attracting animals. She thought of that thing in front of the abandoned house last time. And now, was something following them back from the back hill? She hadn’t even noticed. Not okay. This mom isn’t doing her job properly!
After rinsing the fishy smell off her hands, Tian Sangsang stood up and carefully observed the little white-furred creature. Chubby little hands and feet, a round face, jet-black rolling eyes, eyebrows shaped like curved jade pendants, perked-up little ears, and fur that was completely white, looking both fluffy and soft.
"So cute! Silly and adorable!" Tian Sangsang exclaimed, reaching out to pat the little cutie’s head.
The little cutie moved its head in protest, turned its body, and showed her its small butt, wagging its tail nonstop.
Oh wow, looks like it’s a timid little... dog.
This breed — it must be a dog, though it’s definitely cuter than other dogs.
Tian Sangsang moved to the front of the dog again, reaching out once more to pat its little head. It was so small that its head wasn’t even as big as her palm. She cupped it, feeling the soft and fluffy texture in her hand.
"Woof! Woof woof!" The little cutie wriggled its head out from her palm and turned around again to flash its tiny butt at her, holding its tail high in the air.
Oh, come on. This isn’t just timid; this attitude is an outright display of aloofness.
Not one to admit defeat, Tian Sangsang grabbed its white tail lightly, pulling it back and placing her dark hand over its small head again.
"Awooo~~" The little cutie waved its front paws desperately and scampered over to Meng Shuyan’s side.
"Son, it doesn’t seem to like me very much." Tian Sangsang admitted self-awarely. These days, even dogs are into looks? Sigh, such heartbreak.
Meng Shuyan furrowed his little brow, pursing his lips as he addressed the creature seriously, "If you don’t like my mom, I won’t let you stay here and live with us!"
The little cutie suddenly dropped its fluffy head, gazing at Meng Shuyan with tearful eyes. His expression was firm and uncompromising. Slowly, the creature dragged itself in front of Tian Sangsang, wagging its tail weakly a few times — an air of resigned submission surrounded it.
Tian Sangsang curled her lips into a smile, reached out to pat it, then turned to her son and asked again, "Yanyan, do you want to keep this little animal?"
Meng Shuyan nodded, his dark eyes glinting with hopeful anticipation. "Mom, can I?"
He knew their family was poor, and there wasn’t enough food to go around. But this little dog had been following him since the mountain, and he was intrigued. Oddly enough, he could understand the words of other animals, but not this one — its speech was incomprehensible, a mix of "chirpy chirpy, cluck cluck, creaky creaky, ee ya."
"Of course you can." Tian Sangsang cheerfully pulled him closer, her gaze thoughtful as it lingered on the dog. "You can keep it as a pet. If you don’t want to dote on it, you can let it roam free — Mom won’t oppose either way. Does it have a name yet? Or shall we give it one?"
"I’ll follow Mom’s lead; whatever name you give is good," Meng Shuyan answered obediently.
The little cutie stayed rooted in place, suddenly feeling an inexplicable chill on its spine as its almond-shaped eyes widened. Unfortunately, it was completely ignored by the mother and son duo.
"Hmm... it’s white, looks a bit airheaded... So pure white, it reminds me of a Northern Country winter and that steaming, fragrant milk tea. Let’s call it Little Milk Tea."
"Mom, what’s milk tea? Is it tea with milk added?" Meng Shuyan raised his hand to scratch the back of his head, speaking in a childishly sweet voice.
"Haha, no, it’s not. When Mom has spare time later, I’ll make you some."
"Okay."
"Awooo..."
Ignored once more, Little Milk Tea wagged its tail furiously, glaring with its almond-shaped eyes while opening its tiny mouth to bite at Meng Shuyan’s little pants, shaking its head as if showing a million emotions of discontent.
"Mom, it’s so excited; it seems to really like this name." Meng Shuyan squinted his peach blossom-shaped eyes, pursing his lips and lifting it up as he laughed heartily. "Little Milk Tea, Little Milk Tea..."

[Cosmic Alliance: Hey, you upstairs — look closer; it’s a dog! A dog! A DOG! Let’s emphasize it three times!]
[Pandora Star: Oh my goodness, my noble, aloof Princess Alice has actually possessed a CAT — uh, I mean, DOG’S body.]
[Zerg Overlord: Little Milk Tea~ Wow, my mouth is watering~]
[My Mecha, My Rules: According to ancient records, this drink called milk tea sells 1.2 billion units annually, enough to circle Blue Star once... And this milk tea comes from one of Blue Star’s most resilient nations. In the ancient East, there’s a dragon, and its name is China.]
[Galaxy Guardians Captain: Damn it, did you guys catch sight of that strange creature? It’s so dark — darker than a black hole!]
[My Mecha, My Rules: Uh... Let me check the records. Hmm, there’s an entry here that describes Blue Star’s southern region, below the Sahara Desert — Africa, where most of the people there are very dark-skinned.]
[Cosmic Alliance: You upstairs — how do you have access to such detailed records? Aren’t those only available in the League’s highest library?]
[My Mecha, My Rules: Heh...]
For lunch, Tian Sangsang made steamed carp, stir-fried eggs with chives, sautéed beef strips, fragrant steamed rice, and old mushroom chicken soup. The dishes were simple yet tantalized the senses with their enticing aroma.
[: What is that? What is that? Can’t believe my eyes! Isn’t that fish — a creature believed to be extinct?!]
[: Whoa~ Chicken soup! This is genuine, free-range chicken, unlike the lab-grown ones here. Oh, I want to try some — yippee!]
[: Covering my face! I can’t believe that’s my Princess Alice.]
[: Oh no, goddess, come back...]
Little Milk Tea sniffed hard with its nose, wagging its tail giddily. Its almond-shaped eyes widened, and its little pink tongue stuck out, droplets of suspicious liquid dribbling from its mouth.
"Awoo, awoo... woof woof."
Tian Sangsang, irritated by the noise, suddenly remembered she hadn’t prepared dinner for it yet. She quickly grabbed a clean bowl, while Meng Shuyan cradled Little Milk Tea in his arms. The creature kicked its legs frantically, transforming into a small relentless wolf in its attempt to pounce onto the dining table. It startled Meng Shuyan, who grabbed its feet tightly.
By logic, this kind of pet dog should only be fed dog food—but Tian Sangsang couldn’t access their space right now. She could only pick out some soft, tender egg, meat strips, and a bit of rice, mixing it with chicken soup. After placing the bowl in front of it, Little Milk Tea raised a paw and pointed at the chicken soup.
Tian Sangsang and Meng Shuyan exchanged glances. Meng Shuyan offered first, "Mom, it probably wants to eat meat."
Picking a boneless piece of chicken, Little Milk Tea’s almond-shaped eyes lit up as it buried its head in the bowl, eating happily. After a few bites, it raised its head again, pointing to the chicken soup with a paw.
Tian Sangsang: This dog... has become enlightened.
