Chapter 812: Chapter 808: Does This Count As Evidence?
"So, you’re saying you’re not actually my fiancé, but my biological brother?"
Huo Sining sat quietly on the bed, arms crossed, her slender eyebrows slightly raised as she looked at the almost otherworldly handsome man in front of her with a peculiar expression. When she asked this question, she deliberately emphasized the word "biological," as if trying to give him another chance to reconsider and stop spouting nonsense.
Su Lan nodded honestly. For some reason, he had always imagined that his sister would be a delicate and adorable little girl. But now, the girl in front of him was glaring at him with an aura so regal she seemed like a queen, which made him feel guilty and instinctively want to avoid her sharp gaze.
The protector standing nearby could only facepalm. Young Master, you’re a Crown Prince of an entire country, how can you be so intimidated just by your sister’s glare?
Huo Sining snorted, "So, how do you explain that my last name is Huo and yours is Su, but you’re saying we’re actually family?"
Hearing this, Su Lan couldn’t help but frown, at a loss for where to start explaining.
"Have you ever heard the story of the Jiaoren?" Su Lan didn’t answer Huo Sining’s question directly but instead brought up a very strange topic.
Huo Sining instinctively furrowed her brows, puzzled as to why Su Lan would suddenly mention something unrelated.
"What story about the Jiaoren?"
Su Lan smiled and suddenly began speaking in archaic language: "In the East Sea, there are Jiaoren who can live for a thousand years. Their tears turn into priceless pearls; their fat can fuel a lamp that never goes out for millennia; the gauze they weave is as light as a feather; their scales can cure all diseases and extend life. Upon their death, they transform into clouds and rain, rising into the sky and falling back into the sea. The South Sea produces Jiaoxiao Gauze, woven in the depths of fountains; it is also called Dragon Gauze and is worth its weight in gold. Clothing made from it remains dry even underwater."
Huo Sining felt even more baffled. Su Lan had just said a lot of strange things that she couldn’t understand at all. "What exactly are you trying to say?"
Su Lan smiled again, but his face suddenly turned solemn and stern. His lips moved silently, and although Huo Sining couldn’t hear his voice, she could clearly hear Su Lan speaking in her mind.
"Beyond Kyushu, above the Yellow Springs, and below Biluo Sea, Biluo is divided into four seas: the vast West, the chessboard East, the starry North, and the colorful South. Beyond Biluo lies Cang Hai, said to be covered with chess pieces and the Netherworld. It is the extreme north, guarded by Jiaoren, and the burial place of ancient gods..."
The air resonated with a faint, trembling sound, akin to the beating of insect wings, so subtle that even if Gu Xu were sitting next to them, he wouldn’t notice the sound waves.
The previously lazy protector’s expression suddenly turned serious, seemingly also quietly listening to the epic of this old kingdom.
Huo Sining was already stunned. As Su Lan spoke, she felt as though she were no longer in a hotel room but beneath the damp sea, with the legendary epic of Cang Hai and Biluo Sea unfolding scene by scene in her mind.
The dusty, vague images in her mind were gradually becoming clear.
Huo Sining was taken aback. What on earth was happening? Where were these images coming from?
"Cang Hai perished, the extreme north disappeared, Diaoti Country fell into chaos, and our mother sent us out of Cang Hai. Just as we reached Biluo Sea, we encountered an old Daoist and a monk fighting. You were not yet conscious, and in the confusion, we were separated."
Shaking off those strange images from her mind, Huo Sining looked at Su Lan as if he were a monster:
"So you’re saying that both you and I are Jiaoren from this Diaoti Country? Are you sure this isn’t a joke? Did you get this plot from some TV show?"
Previously, Huo Sining thought Su Lan liked to talk nonsense, but now she was utterly convinced that he must have lost his mind and needed to go to a mental hospital.
Thinking this, Huo Sining subconsciously glanced at the protector and asked, "Who are you to him? You’re responsible for his safety, right? You’re not doing a good job. How could you let him escape from a mental hospital? If something happens, will you take responsibility?"
The protector had been immersed in Su Lan’s descriptions of the old kingdom, but upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, he couldn’t help but twitch the corners of his mouth. He glanced at the grievously angered Su Lan, shrugged, and made a helpless gesture.
Su Lan and his sister had been separated, and he felt immense sorrow and remorse. Back then, he had been too willful and paid no mind to cultivating the Spiritual Pearl. When disaster struck, he found that aside from being a Crown Prince, he was powerless and couldn’t even protect his sister.
Losing his sister during their escape filled Su Lan with guilt. After leaving Cang Hai, he slept in the deep sea for a thousand years. It wasn’t until recently, perhaps summoned by the call of blood, that he realized his sister was nearby and suddenly awakened from his slumber.
Recalling these old events, Su Lan thought his sister would understand. However, she not only didn’t believe him but also thought he was insane!
"I’m not lying to you. Everything I said is true. What would it take for you to believe me?" Su Lan took a deep breath, forcing a wry smile on his stiff face.
Huo Sining was convinced he was just spouting nonsense, so she responded nonchalantly, "Unless you can provide concrete evidence to prove what you’re saying is true."
"Alright!"
Hearing this, Su Lan immediately sat up straight, chanting something under his breath.
Huo Sining was taken aback, about to ask what he was saying, but the next moment, her expression drastically changed.
In an instant, the man in front of her transformed into something completely different.
The sides of his previously smooth cheeks suddenly sprouted rounded gill covers; his ears stretched long and thin; his long black hair turned blue in an instant, cascading down like seaweed. His eyes also turned a pure shade of blue, gleaming like a cat’s eyes in the room.
What shocked Huo Sining the most was Su Lan’s lower body. His long legs merged together, fusing into one and finally forming a fish tail.
The long fish tail swayed in front of Huo Sining, the scales reflecting brilliant colors in the sunlight.
Yet, Su Lan’s upper body still sat straight on the sofa, his deep eyes fixed on Huo Sining, the scene becoming increasingly bizarre.
"You..."
What on earth was happening? Why had Su Lan suddenly transformed like this?!
"Does this count as evidence?" Su Lan raised his head and smiled at Huo Sining.
