Chapter 760: Chapter 756 What does this old fellow want to do?

It was hard to tell how much time had passed, but as the tremors from the seabed ceased, the underwater vortex gradually subsided, the rolling waves calmed, and the originally murky waters slowly became clear and translucent.

The remnants and debris stirred up by the waves slowly settled into the seabed, and the schools of fish that had been hiding somewhere began to reassemble. Soon, the underwater world returned to its initial state of dreamlike tranquility.

If it weren’t for the Old Turtle, still struggling in her grasp, Huo Sining would almost have believed that everything that had happened was just her imagination.

Coming to her senses, Huo Sining couldn’t help but regret not having taken a camera out. If she had captured those moments and shared them, they would surely have caused a sensation.

However, thinking about it now was useless. She hadn’t anticipated such an event, and so there was no camera in her storage ring, just a phone with a resolution too poor to be useful.

The shipwreck forest that Huo Sining had previously looted was now in disarray, most of the ships shattered into fragments by the force of the vortex, with countless miscellaneous items still floating in the water.

Huo Sining was secretly relieved that she had picked clean all the valuables from the wreckage before the earthquake and tsunami struck. Otherwise, those items would have turned into debris foam and, if she hadn’t taken them, they would have disappeared from the world.

Old Turtle was spared from being sucked into the vortex because Huo Sining had been pulling on its tail, saving its old life. After freeing the turtle, Huo Sining expected it to make a clumsy escape but, to her surprise, it circled around her, not running away but instead nuzzling her palm with its head. Then, with a few scratches of its claws, it gestured in another direction, indicating for Huo Sining to follow.

Huo Sining paused to comprehend Old Turtle’s intention, curiosity piquing even as she found herself unconsciously following behind the aged Sea Turtle.

The elderly reptile led the way, looking back from time to time as if to check whether Huo Sining was keeping up. After a long distance and as dawn broke, just when Huo Sining started to suspect the turtle’s intentions, it suddenly quickened its pace.

Only then did Huo Sining look up and realize that, not far ahead, an island had come into view. Because she was underwater, she could see the nearby land, but she couldn’t make out what the island was like.

The destination of Old Turtle was that island. On spotting dry land, the turtle vigorously swam towards it, leaving Huo Sining with no choice but to follow closely behind until finally reaching the shores of the island, exhausted from the journey.

Skeptical about why Old Turtle had brought her here, Huo Sining wanted to ask but realized the futility, as Old Turtle couldn’t understand her, making any question a futile exercise in communication.

However, the turtle seemed quite at ease. After reaching the shore, it crawled straight toward a sandy beach and, behind a particular rock, started to dig through the sand and mud.

Having previously found a treasure chest in the turtle’s lair, Huo Sining was well aware of the Old Turtle’s knack for hoarding valuable items. Seeing its actions, her eyes lit up, thinking that it might be digging for treasure, and she quickly leaned in for a closer look.

To her surprise, the turtle turned around vigilantly, baring its teeth and grimacing in a show of aggression that it believed was quite fierce.

"Fine, you dig, I won’t look, okay?"

Seeing Old Turtle’s reaction, Huo Sining felt helpless, raised her hands in a placating gesture, turned away to show she would no longer intrude or watch.

Old Turtle saw Huo Sining’s reaction, then turned back and continued its business.

Huo Sining said she wouldn’t look, but when Old Turtle wasn’t paying attention, she sneakily turned her head back to steal a glance.

What a joke, after coming this far, and the Old Turtle was digging up treasure but not allowing her to watch, what kind of logic was that?

However, after only a few minutes of watching, as soon as the turtle scraped away the surface sand, revealing the contents within the hole, Huo Sining’s expression completely froze.

What this old fellow had uncovered were actually seven or eight eggs, and seeing Old Turtle’s face all nervous and protective, Huo Sining could easily guess with her toes that these were its own eggs, no wonder it had chosen such a remote island to bury them in the sand.

Once Huo Sining realized that the contents of the sandy hole were Sea Turtle eggs, she was both speechless and incredulous, unable to help rolling her eyes to the sky.

She had thought that following this old fellow would lead to something good, but instead, the creature was here to look after its offspring! If this wasn’t being duped, what was? Such a waste of her time!

Huo Sining felt somewhat disappointed and didn’t plan on entangling with Old Turtle any further. Only when she checked the coordinates on her navigator did she realize how far off course she had gone.

Inwardly, Huo Sining sighed, chastising herself for being foolish enough to think that Old Turtle could lead her to some treasure.

Huo Sining was in a quandary. If she wanted to return now, she had to retrace her steps to catch the downwind ship back to port. But the thought of going back the same way she had come -- potentially walking for hours in the sea again -- made Huo Sining feel a headache coming on.

But what could she do? She couldn’t just sit around on the island and wait for doom; if she had to go back, she had to get into the sea.

Huo Sining felt deeply frustrated. After a struggle within herself, she walked toward the sea. But she had barely taken a few steps when Old Turtle bit onto her trouser leg again.

Turning around, Huo Sining realized that Old Turtle had followed her and had buried those Sea Turtle eggs back into the same sandy hole once more.

"What are you tugging me for? You come to see your son and then deceive me, and I haven’t even settled the score with you yet! I’m telling you, it’s not my fault your son hasn’t hatched. I’m leaving now, so go wherever you need to go and stop trying to trick me!" Huo Sining said irritably.

Old Turtle couldn’t understand Huo Sining’s words, but its will was very persistent, gripping onto Huo Sining’s trouser leg and pulling her toward the shore, refusing to let go.

Huo Sining had no choice but to compromise. "Fine, fine, fine, is that okay? I won’t leave. What do you want to do, shall I just follow you?"

Seeing Huo Sining back on the shore, Old Turtle finally released her trouser leg and started walking towards the coast, looking back every three steps. Huo Sining had no idea what kind of scheme Old Turtle had in mind, so she could only follow behind.
