Wang Kaiwen didn’t mind Huo Sining’s estrangement and coldness at all. After exchanging pleasantries, he finally stated the purpose of his visit.

"I have a friend who brought back a batch of raw stones yesterday. Miss Huo, you have a unique eye for jade gambling, so I would like to ask for your help to examine them."

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Boss Wang, you are overestimating me. I haven’t been dealing with jadeite raw stones for long, so any unique insight is just luck."

Wang Kaiwen became anxious, "I know this request is somewhat presumptuous, but Miss Huo, don’t reject me so quickly. This batch of raw stones was smuggled over from Myanmar by my friend. Both their surface and quality surpass those found in domestic jade gambling markets. If you are willing to assist me, I will talk to my friend and let you select two pieces from the batch. You definitely won’t be at a loss."

Smuggled over? Upon hearing this, Huo Sining stalled momentarily and lifted her head to look at Wang Kaiwen with surprise. After a few seconds of silence, she nodded and said,

"I can examine them for you. When the time comes, you choose five pieces that you think are promising, and I will take a look at those. But I’ll only look at five pieces, and if they don’t appreciate in value after cutting, it’s not my fault. The rest is up to you!"

Wang Kaiwen frowned unconsciously, hesitated for a moment, then clenched his teeth and nodded, "Alright!"

After explaining the situation to Luo Jinzhi, Huo Sining followed Wang Kaiwen to his parked car. The black SUV sped along the road, turning into more unfamiliar paths and winding around until finally stopping in front of an inconspicuous residence.

Following Wang Kaiwen out of the car, Huo Sining noticed another car pulling up behind them. As soon as she got out, she was greeted by a dazzling red.

Huo Sining was slightly surprised. Upon that brief look, she recalled having seen this woman before at Mei Yuan, when she had attended a class reunion with Luo Jinzhi. She hadn’t expected to encounter her again here.

Although the face seemed familiar, Huo Sining didn’t dwell on it and followed the woman into the old house.

They passed through a courtyard and walked around a stone screen, then the space opened up with weeping willows and bright flowers.

Huo Sining hadn’t anticipated that this unimpressive little house would conceal such a paradise, a vast courtyard laid out before her eyes, brightening her perspective suddenly.

On hearing Huo Sining’s words, the gloomy look on Wang Kaiwen’s face eased considerably. He nodded and said, "Miss Huo, you are right. I was too nervous."

Upon entering the hall, they saw seven or eight people gathered around, each holding their chosen rocks, queuing up to cut the stones. Two machines designed for stone cutting were placed in the hall.

No sooner had Huo Sining and her two companions entered than a middle-aged man with sharp eyes approached them with a grin:

As soon as he spoke, the boss relaxed his scrutinizing gaze and cheerfully started talking about today’s new arrivals, with Wang Kaiwen listening intently.

Huo Sining saw that the boss’s initial look was filled with caution when he regarded her, but she didn’t mind. Wang Kaiwen had already said that these goods were smuggled in, and the setup of such a hidden venue indicated that it wasn’t a legitimate business.

Huo Sining understood the ambiguity in Boss Qi’s eyes; he probably mistook her for Wang Kaiwen’s lover or someone similar.

Though disliking Boss Qi’s gaze, Huo Sining didn’t bother explaining her relationship with Wang Kaiwen at length.

She wasn’t acquainted with Boss Qi, and how he saw her wasn’t something that concerned Huo Sining or occupied her thoughts.

Miss Yue, who had come along, showed a flicker of disdain when she heard Wang Kaiwen introduce Huo Sining. Seeing Boss Qi ready to ramble on, her impatience grew: "Old Qi, are you going to talk all day? If you’re not doing business, then I’m leaving!"
