Chapter 512: Chapter 508: Encounter with the Little Dolphin Again

Chen Xiaolong’s face immediately darkened as he fiercely raised his head and glared at Huo Sining, his eyes blazing with fire, "Are you threatening me?!"

Huo Sining found this amusing, "Threatening? That’s a funny thing to say, Captain Chen. Isn’t it you who threatened me first?"

"I’ve always been amiable and don’t like making enemies, but if someone is foolish enough to provoke me, I won’t mind showing them some color. Otherwise, they’ll really think I’m easy to bully. Don’t you agree?"

Filled with rage, Chen Xiaolong felt even more that Huo Sining was hiding some terrible secret, even suspecting that this woman’s hesitance and stammering were covering up a criminal act.

Chen Xiaolong, indifferent to Huo Sining’s threatening words, strode toward the door.

"Captain Chen, the people pay taxes to support you, bestowing upon you a sacred police mission, not for you to trivially investigate or even eavesdrop on a girl’s private life, but to hope you can maintain social stability!"

"Go investigate and handle those social miscreants and lawbreakers, don’t waste your time on me! I hope you won’t disturb my normal life again, or else, I won’t mind using a once and for all method to ensure you can never sit in the criminal investigation department again!"

As Chen Xiaolong reached the gate, Huo Sining said indifferently.

"Ningning, what’s the matter?"

Just then, a woman pushing a wheelchair came not far from there, and seeing some commotion at the doorstep where Huo Sining was, she frowned and asked instinctively.

"Nothing, Auntie, what brings you here?" Huo Sining was surprised to see Song Chunxue, she didn’t expect Song Chunxue to actually take Lu Ruiqi out.

"Rui Qi said it was stuffy inside, so I brought him out to take a breather. I hadn’t been to your place yet, so I thought I’d stop by for a visit."

Song Chunxue replied with a smile, but her eyes were looking over at Chen Xiaolong.

At the sight of Song Chunxue, Chen Xiaolong was completely dumbfounded.

Isn’t this... from the Lu Family...

Chen Xiaolong was horrified; he stood there stiffly, staring blankly at Song Chunxue, almost wondering if he had come to the wrong place, was this not S City but the Capital City?

"Okay, then let me take you and Rui Qi inside. However, my residence is quite humble, it’s nothing compared to yours."

Huo Sining, without giving Chen Xiaolong another glance, took Lu Ruiqi’s wheelchair from Song Chunxue with a smile and began to push it into the courtyard.

Chen Xiaolong watched as Huo Sining affectionately pushed Lu Ruiqi and Song Chunxue into the yard before he suddenly came to his senses.

What did Huo Sining just call this woman? Auntie?!

Chen Xiaolong froze, and suddenly his back was drenched in cold sweat.

He had never taken Huo Sining seriously as an orphaned girl. But now, seeing Song Chunxue and guessing the connection between Huo Sining and the Lu Family, he realized that he had provoked someone he absolutely could not afford to offend, and his heart couldn’t help trembling.

He could never have anticipated how close Huo Sining was to the Lu Family. With their status, a minor criminal police captain like him would never be taken seriously by them.

In his heart, Chen Xiaolong even had a ridiculous thought. For people like the Lu Family, if they wanted to permanently silence someone, killing him would be as easy as crushing an ant, and they could do it without a trace, utterly unnoticed.

Chen Xiaolong subconsciously turned his head back towards the courtyard, and just by chance, Huo Sining was sweeping her gaze in his direction.

Caught by that half-smiling, half-mocking look, Chen Xiaolong’s heart couldn’t help shivering, and he fled from the school district villa, tumbling and scrambling, taking a car back to Hetian that very night in a sorry state.

After dealing with Chen Xiaolong, Huo Sining left her house that night to enter the Yellow River again.

It was just shortly after the beginning of spring, and the biting spring cold meant that fish usually swam deep, causing difficulties for normal fishing boats. However, Huo Sining didn’t have to worry about this problem.

The Spiritual Energy in the Water-Repelling Pearl was becoming increasingly rich and dense. As soon as she dived into the water, a large school of fish drawn to the tantalizing scent of the Spiritual Energy quickly gathered around her.

Freshwater fish are cold-blooded creatures and they enter a semi-hibernation state once the water temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius, ceasing to eat.

Fish that don’t eat are clean inside, without any fishy odor, and also happen to be at their fattest, which is why many regions typically fish for freshwater fish in winter, also known as the winter fishing season.

Although it was already spring, the temperature was actually not high, and the rapid currents at the Yellow River estuary made it difficult for fish groups to be caught. Hence, these fish groups had not diminished. Upon sensing the Spiritual Energy of the Azure Pearl, they swarmed towards it.

With a swoop of her net, she’d catch a load each time. Now with the Ring’s Space, storing them was easy. Moreover, it wasn’t a no-fishing period and there were no restrictions on catching freshwater fish, so Huo Sining had no reservations about wiping out the schools of fish wherever she went.

While Huo Sining was busy fishing, a muffled sound suddenly came from overhead. She paused, swam back ashore, and unexpectedly discovered that it had started to rain.

With thunder rumbling and the rain growing heavier, none of these affected Huo Sining. She continued to dive back into the river to continue fishing. Unexpectedly, just as she had submerged not long after, a dark shadow rushed towards her and violently bumped into her waist.

Huo Sining turned around and instantly smiled, "How come it’s you again? What are you doing in the Yellow River? Could it be that you’re tempted by the Spiritual Energy? Where are your mom and dad? Running out here secretly without your parents is not what good children do!"

This shadow was none other than the little dolphin Huo Sining had saved a few months before. Having grown over the months, it still had a scar on its body, which made it instantly recognizable to her.

Seemingly not understanding Huo Sining’s words, the young dolphin shook its head in the water, bit down on Huo Sining’s pants, and started to pull her outwards. Huo Sining paused and asked, "What’s wrong?"

The little one let out a squeaking sound and pulled Huo Sining towards the Yangtze River estuary. Seeing the urgency in its eyes, Huo Sining couldn’t help but frown and asked, "Has something happened?"

The dolphin nodded, crouched down, and stood in front of Huo Sining, signaling her to climb onto its back. With suspicion in her heart and no hesitation, Huo Sining sat on the little dolphin’s back.

The little guy swam in the water, swiftly carrying Huo Sining towards the surface at breakneck speed. Huo Sining didn’t know how long it had been when they unexpectedly arrived at an unfamiliar sea area.
