After some playful banter, Gu Xu remembered to introduce his older brother and sister-in-law. The Gu family was simpler and easier to get along with than the Huang family, and Huo Sining quickly integrated with the family.

Seeing Huo Sining’s embarrassed expression, Gu Xu couldn’t help but chuckle quietly to himself.

Amidst the laughter, they finished the game of chess, and Mrs. Gu and Chen Yu, who had been busy in the kitchen, had also finished preparing the meal.

The lunch was typical, with a meat and vegetable balance, six dishes and a soup, all homely flavors, but the color, aroma, and taste were impeccable.

Huo Sining was actually willing to help, but Chen Yu had already efficiently tidied up the dishes on the table, so she didn’t make a fuss and put down the dishcloth to head toward the living room.

Only Madam Gu and Master Gu were in the living room watching TV; Mr. Gu and the Gu brothers were nowhere in sight.

Huo Sining didn’t ask about Gu Xu’s whereabouts, instead, she kept the two elders company watching TV and chatting.

Chen Yu and Mrs. Gu, who had finished washing the dishes, soon joined them, and the conversation naturally led to the topic of games and leisure. Recalling that Huo Sining grew up in Bashu, Chen Yu suddenly became enthusiastic:

"People from your Bashu area really enjoy playing mahjong; you must know how to play, right?"
