Chapter 225: One More Update

Chapter 225: Chapter 225: One More Update

Lan Xing apologetically glanced at Ju Nanyi, turned around, and exchanged a few words with the female servant who had come out, and Jin Luo turned and entered the hall.

Ju Nanyi calmly withdrew his gaze, but the guards were restless, their eyes occasionally darting towards the direction of the hall, imagining all sorts of scenes from just that one look.

"Lord Ju, have you discovered any problems?" Lan Xing, after making his round, asked.

"No, nothing." Ju Nanyi answered truthfully. The accuracy of the information they were following was not high, so Ju Nanyi did not hold much hope.

Lan Xing breathed a sigh of relief, even Elder Can didn’t have any news about these Ghost Shadows, these people naturally wouldn’t find anything. Moreover, even if there were shadows, Elder Can would surely handle it before these people could.

Thus, Lan Xing wasn’t too worried.

After making a round without any findings, the guards were even more dejected, having carried heavy equipment back and forth for several days without any success.

"Excuse me, Lord Lan." Ju Nanyi prepared to leave, bidding Lan Xing a very polite farewell.

Lan Xing was about to salute when he suddenly paused. His intuition was quicker than others. Before he could fully look up, he saw a black shadow suddenly sweep across the sky. Lan Xing immediately leaped up, lunging directly towards the direction of the shadow.

"Captain, there is a situation—" shouted a guard from the Fire Order Squad. Ju Nanyi, hearing this, immediately looked up, only to see a black shadow slip into the Princess Mansion and disappear under the eaves.

Yu Yuan, the current Captain of the Fire Order Squad, was the first to rush out, followed by several guards who hurriedly ran out with Yu Yuan, and Ju Nanyi also followed.

Was this the direction of the Princess Hall?

The color drained from Lan Xing’s face, realizing there was no time to call for Elder Can, he gritted his teeth and rushed towards the direction of the Princess Hall.

Yin He turned around, looking directly towards the outside of the hall.

Zheng Tianxin pulled Yin He’s head over, leaning flirtatiously against the young man’s body.

"Look at me," the woman curled her arm around the young man’s neck, "Distractions won’t do, let’s continue with what we were doing..."

"Boom—" A loud sound erupted, and with it, Zheng Tianxin was thrown several meters away, her ears ringing with Jin Luo’s screams.

A shadow more than two meters tall, like a black giant eagle, swooped down towards Jin Luo, who was paralyzed with fear on the ground, her face pale, and too terrified to even scream.

Zheng Tianxin startled, Jin Luo had been with her since childhood, and in her desperation, she reached out to do something. Seeing that the young man was still sitting there as if stunned, Zheng Tianxin could not care about anything else; she struggled to sit up and directly headed outside the hall.

"Ah—" Jin Luo let out a deafening scream, her petite figure instantly swept into the air by the shadow.

"Help, help—"

Lan Xing kicked the door open, leaped up, and a whip as long as a person shot out towards the black shadow, glowing with a blue light, hitting the shadow the moment it made contact, causing the shadow to dissipate like smoke hit by the whip, and Jin Luo was immediately thrown to the ground from mid-air.

Lan Xing, concerned with the fallen Jin Luo, immediately went to help Zheng Tianxin.

The shadow dispersed in mid-air but gathered faster than it vanished. In the blink of an eye, it had already re-formed into a humanoid figure, and the head hidden in the black cloth turned towards Lan Xing.

"Princess, we must retreat—" Lan Xing helped Zheng Tianxin up and was about to leave.

"We can’t win?" Zheng Tianxin looked up, bewildered and somewhat reluctant to give up the little lamb that was almost within her grasp.

"We can’t win," Lan Xing replied truthfully, glancing at the youth in the center of the hall. If Elder Can’s guess was right, this young man would not die; if not, his death wouldn’t matter much anymore.

Seeing this, Zheng Tianxin followed Lan Xing and walked towards the exit.

Outside the hall, a shadow moved faster than the Fire Order Squad members and dashed into the grand hall.

Inside the hall, the shadow quickly condensed into form, its attention fixed on the only boy still seated, as if it had just realized that the most important target that had driven it to rush in was right below.

In the next moment, the shadow swiftly dove towards the boy.

Jin Luo’s eyes widened, and the next moment, she fainted from fear.

The shadow roared and swept towards the boy, but the boy, sitting amidst the chaos, didn’t move an inch. Just as the shadow spread its dark arms, seemingly ready to swallow the boy, the boy suddenly turned his head, his icy gaze shooting towards the shadow.

The shadow was suddenly frozen, as if time had stopped. It quickly realized something was amiss and tried to escape, but it was already too late.

The boy moved swiftly; the shadow twisted in terror into a mass, and the tips of the boy’s fingers seemed to possess a tremendous suction force. Despite the shadow’s struggles, it was as if being pulled into a whirlpool at the bottom of a river. It watched in horror as its body slowly began to dissipate into the void.

Elder Can had just reached the doorway and stood there, stunned, gazing at the scene.

By the time the Fire Order Squad members reached the doorway, panting, they looked bewildered at Elder Can, who was leaning against the doorframe. Upon looking inside: where was the shadow?

They had clearly seen the shadow enter, yet it was now gone.

Ju Nanyi arrived at the doorway, glanced at the chaotic scene inside the hall, where a young boy sat amidst the chaos, quietly contemplating, and a fainting young girl, the female servant who had just come out to inquire.

Lord Lan had settled Zheng Tianxin and then turned to look at the situation inside the hall, only to see that everyone was standing at the doorway, not eager to enter.

"Go and see what’s happening," Zheng Tianxin urged Lan Xing, remembering the boy inside and her maid.

Lan Xing immediately went into the hall and was similarly startled. The Ghost Shadow he had just witnessed was now nowhere to be seen; no, not completely unseen—the black robe by the boy’s side lay empty on the ground, the very robe worn by the Ghost Shadow.

A bold idea formed in Lan Xing’s mind. He looked at the boy, who still hadn’t moved, as if he had been petrified by the previous events, but slowly, Lan Xing began to feel that something about the boy was different.

Elder Can stepped forward shakily and walked into the hall, approaching the boy step by step.

Elder Can was excited but didn’t dare to fully trust his own guess. He had initially thought that even if a Ghost Shadow came over, it would take a lot of time and effort for the Young Master to absorb the Ghost Shadow’s power. After all, it takes a tremendous amount of time and their efforts to nurture a Ghost Shadow, and the power is immense; even he could not absorb so much power in a short amount of time.

Elder Can was both excited and worried. The Young Master had no idea that he had absorbed so much power from the Ghost Shadow at once; what if it backfired?

Elder Can was about to speak when the boy, sitting amidst the ruins, suddenly stood up.
