Chapter 710: Falling Asleep Embracing Abigail

Chapter 710: Chapter 710: Falling Asleep Embracing Abigail

Abigail Green felt that Brandon Piers did it on purpose.

He deliberately avoided all the problems when she was feeling soft-hearted. Now, he was confusingly asleep in her bed. It was really too annoying.

Yet facing such an annoying man, Abigail found herself unable to wake him up immediately.

Looking at the dark circles under his eyes, despite her anger, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

In the past few days, she had forced herself to sleep well to take care of Teddy, but was still severely suffering from insomnia. And she knew Brandon must be feeling worse.

Not only did he have to push her away, but he also faced a series of crises and had to carry the burden of guilt.

She should have known he was having a harder time than she was.

Thinking of the grievance he just displayed, saying he couldn’t sleep because he missed her, she knew he partly said it to soften her heart. But she also knew it was mostly true.

Abigail looked at the man on the bed, not sure if he was really asleep or pretending. She sighed softly and got up to get a towel to dry his hair.

Once the hair was dry, her gaze fell on his body wrapped only in a bath towel. Her cheeks uncontrollably reddened. She gently pulled the towel away, hurriedly covered him with the quilt, and then got up to close the bedroom door.

After doing all this, Abigail lay back on the bed. But before she could fall asleep, a long arm stretched out towards her, and the next moment, she was pulled into a warm embrace.

Abigail knew this man was pretending to sleep. But in the quiet of the night, she had no energy to argue with him. Due to the sleeping aid’s effect, she soon fell asleep in Brandon’s arms.

Brandon, hearing the soft breathing of the woman in his arms, reached out to turn off the bedside lamp. He pulled her closer, wishing he could hold her without letting go if he weren’t afraid of waking her.

But unfortunately, he couldn’t do that now.

Lowering his head, he carefully kissed her lips again and again. The woman in his arms, for some reason, struggled and moved in her sleep. Afraid of waking her, Brandon dared not move anymore. He closed his eyes and continued pretending to sleep.

Who knew that he would actually fall asleep this time?

Brandon didn’t lie to Abigail. He really hadn’t been sleeping these days.

The night deepened. On the large bed, the two held each other tightly, as if the conflicts of the past few days had never happened.

When Abigail opened her eyes the next day, she saw the huge empty bed. She was the only one lying there. The man who visited her last night was already gone.

It felt like last night was just a dream.

Abigail got up, feeling annoyed as she sat dazed on the big bed for a while before pulling herself together to check on her baby.

"Mama, hug hug." As soon as Abigail entered the next room, Teddy, who was getting dressed, reached out to her for a hug.

Seeing her adorable son slightly alleviated Abigail’s bad mood caused by a man who left without saying goodbye. She hurried over to hug the little one.

Teddy, who was one year and one month old, had a strong ability to mimic and was in a very clingy phase, always wanting someone with him. Whenever he saw her, he wanted a hug.

Abigail held the little guy, helped him with the remaining socks, and then went downstairs with Aunt Claudia.

Lois, the new housekeeper, had already prepared breakfast.

At the dining table, Abigail looked at Lois, seeing her usual expression, she realized the woman probably didn’t see Brandon. He must have left very early.

He was likely planning another act.

"Woof woof..." Just as Abigail was lost in thought, Threo, seeing them eating, eagerly approached.

Abigail almost forgot about the dog. Hearing it bark, she shot it a glance and told Lois and Aunt Claudia, "Don’t give it any food today."

Lois and Aunt Claudia looked at Abigail, puzzled. Did Threo make Abigail angry?

"Woo woo..." Threo seemed to understand its mistress’s words, lying down by Abigail’s leg, looking up at her with a pitiful expression.

The look reminded Abigail of the man she caught last night, also looking pitiful before sneakily slipping away in the morning.

"Traitor," Abigail got angrier thinking about it and ignored the dog.

But Teddy, hearing his friend’s woofing, wriggled to get down from his high chair, approaching and gently patting Threo, imitating how Abigail usually comforted him.

Abigail, "..."

Alright, for her son’s sake, she’d let the ugly dog stay.

After eating, Abigail gathered her things and got ready for school.

It had been over a week since her accident, and she had missed school for more than a week. Now that she had found a place, and Teddy and Aunt Claudia were settled, it was time to continue with her life.

After kissing Teddy and giving Aunt Claudia a few instructions, Abigail went out. A car was already waiting for her.

Though the old man agreed to let her leave the estate, he sent a car on the third day after she found a house, fearing her refusal, a low-key black Audi, along with a driver.

Abigail initially planned to send the driver back. The driver turned out to be Hughes.

She had heard that Hughes was released, but she wasn’t Abigail, she had no personal feelings toward Hughes. Moreover, he helped Ruby harm her terribly. Though the misunderstanding was cleared, Abigail didn’t dislike him but had no other feelings either.

However, Hughes felt differently. He was filled with guilt towards Abigail and agreed to cooperate with Brandon for her sake. He also volunteered to be Abigail’s driver. Despite her refusal, he stuck to her like 502 glue, refusing to leave.

After a few failed attempts to get rid of him, Abigail considered her current situation. She guessed Hughes was sent by Brandon, not the old man.

That man had his reasons for doing things. And Abigail, though she had a driver’s license as Dr. Smith, didn’t have one as Abigail Green. Even if she had a car, she couldn’t drive it and finding a reliable new driver wasn’t easy. So, she reluctantly kept Hughes.

The boy had spent more than half a year in prison, appearing thinner than when she last saw him, but he seemed more composed and reserved. When looking at her, his eyes held unmistakable guilt, still blaming himself for past events.

"I will protect you well." Seeing Abigail relent, Hughes assured with determination.

He wanted to be her driver to repay his debt. Besides, being a hacker with some combat skills and quick reflexes, he could protect Abigail while driving, and most importantly, monitor her surroundings closely, informing Brandon of any potential dangers immediately.

Hughes’s solemn words made Abigail sigh lightly in the car, "The past is gone, don’t dwell on it, I don’t blame you."

"Thank you." Hughes thanked softly, looking through the rearview mirror at the girl who had emerged like a butterfly. His resolve to protect her grew even stronger.

Abigail felt helpless but didn’t say anything more, letting Hughes take her to school. But the moment she entered, she felt the atmosphere was off.
