Chapter 702: The Annoyed Master Brandon
Chapter 702: Chapter 702: The Annoyed Master Brandon
They got into the car. Kelvin Max cautiously asked, "Is young Master Piers trustworthy? Since the Croft Family allowed Mr. Joshua to become the head, it won’t be easy to remove him."
"It depends on his skills. Have Alex keep an eye on him and assist if necessary." Brandon Piers responded, lowering his head to open his phone.
Kelvin’s eyebrows twitched. What was he looking at again?
He couldn’t resist his curiosity. What exactly was the second young master looking at? He sat up straight, trying to get a glimpse of the phone’s content, but ended up meeting a pair of breathtaking amber eyes. He immediately shrank back, "Second young master... I have something to report."
"Speak," Brandon withdrew his gaze and coldly dropped a single word.
Kelvin forced a smile, "Lawyer Jones has been invited to Evergrowing’s party tomorrow."
Brandon became especially sensitive when he heard the name Lawyer Jones, and turned his head to look at Kelvin, "Then what?"
Kelvin looked troubled. This really was difficult. Did the second young master not understand, or was he doing this on purpose?
But he couldn’t avoid it. Kelvin put on a fake smile, "Then... The party requires a female companion."
Brandon did not respond, his eyes still fixed on Kelvin.
Pullan, from the front, cast a sympathetic glance at Kelvin.
Kelvin couldn’t help but glare at Pullan, then helplessly continued, "Lawyer Jones is very aloof and has almost no women around him. So... there’s a chance he might bring Mrs. Piers as his companion. You might want to be prepared."
The last few words were spoken at the speed of an advertisement broadcast.
"Oh." Brandon responded with a single "Oh," and then looked back at his phone screen.
Kelvin and Pullan, "..."
Oh? That’s it? Nothing more?
Kelvin and Pullan exchanged looks through the rearview mirror, not understanding what was going on with the second young master. Had he really let Mrs. Piers go? It couldn’t be!
Brandon said "Oh" not because he had let go of Abigail, but because he was agitated.
As soon as Kelvin finished speaking, Brandon saw Benjamin entering Abigail’s new home with a gift box. He immediately recognized what was inside, and what disturbed him more was that Abigail accepted it, which meant she agreed to Benjamin’s invitation.
Brandon was furious. Previously, when he felt this way, he would dominate his little fatty to keep her away from other men. But now, he could only be angry.
Angry and gloomy.
This feeling was terrible, so bad that Brandon had an impulse to immediately find someone to assassinate Joshua, and then bring Abigail back.
The car became stifling due to the increasingly low pressure surrounding Brandon. Not only Kelvin and Pullan, but even Peter, who usually drove without reacting much to his boss’s emotions, could feel the coldness emanating from the second young master. He shrank down, trying to lessen his presence.
Fortunately, although Brandon was in a terrible mood, it didn’t affect his work efficiency. His methods just became more ruthless.
Kelvin thought Uncle Piers was lucky. Had the second young master been focusing on him at this moment, even young Master Piers’s allegiance wouldn’t have helped.
It was just tough on those working under him.
...
Rose Valley.
Abigail looked at the gift box in front of her and felt overwhelmed.
Benjamin had messaged her in the morning asking for help. Considering her previous deceit and the fact that she had used her name to deceive him into taking Aunt Claudia’s case, she felt guilty and kept troubling him these days. Without much thought, she agreed.
Only after agreeing did she realize he wanted her to be his companion.
And Brandon was very likely to attend the party too.
She had been out of Moon Lake Manor for two days. That man hadn’t come to see her, hadn’t called or messaged, using silence to express everything.
Abigail didn’t know how to handle seeing that man at the party...
"Abby, Abby..."
"Huh?" Abigail, lost in her thoughts, was suddenly brought back by Benjamin’s voice, responding in a daze.
Benjamin’s pitch-black eyes showed worry, "Abby, what are you thinking about?"
"Nothing... really." Abigail snapped back to reality, realizing she had zoned out in front of Benjamin and felt a bit embarrassed.
But Benjamin already saw her struggle, "Are you afraid of seeing the second young master?"
"I... Yes and no." Abigail couldn’t lie to herself. She was angry at that man, but she also genuinely wanted to see him.
Those feelings were complex and hard to ignore.
"Abby, are you okay? If it’s too difficult, you don’t have to go. I’m not a stranger; you can refuse." Benjamin watched the changing expressions on Abigail’s face—pain, confusion, reluctance—all those complex emotions conveyed one thing: she loved Brandon.
Even if that man had hurt her.
"I’m fine. Why shouldn’t I go? I was just wondering if this dress would suit me." Abigail, hearing Benjamin’s concern, knew what he was worried about, and quickly changed the topic.
Benjamin looked at her intently, "You don’t trust my taste?"
"Of course not. I’ll wear this tomorrow then." Abigail smiled. At this moment, Doggy Piers came over, lazily lying at her feet, but eyed Benjamin with alertness.
Benjamin had already heard from Aunt Amy about the dog. He had been given a rough welcome upon entering but was too busy confirming if Abigail would attend the party to ask about it. Now that he knew she would go, he felt at ease and had time to chat about the dog, "I posted the details of the German Shepherd online. The owner should find it soon. A purebred like this wouldn’t be a stray; it’s most likely professionally trained."
"I know, but I think this dog might be a bit of an idiot." Abigail spoke sincerely. Over the past two days, she found Doggy Piers especially dumb. Not like a typical German Shepherd, more like a Husky, sticking to her for a piece of meat, playing with Teddy all day, eating a lot, and constantly causing trouble.
Threo, "..." It’s the smartest dog in the team, okay?
"An idiot?" Benjamin looked down at the dog, which had been unusually alert since his arrival. He didn’t think it was stupid—instead, he thought it was a highly trained and intelligent German Shepherd.
If he guessed right, this was likely Brandon’s dog.
He’d heard rumors that the Piers had a secret base. Brandon’s companions, Pullan and the Scott Brothers, were all trained.
And this dog had probably been sent by Brandon to protect Abigail.
"Yeah, silly and dumb, but it looks fierce. Right, Threo?" After two days of bonding, Abigail found that the dog might really be named Threo. She couldn’t understand what its original owner was thinking, giving such a fierce, strong German Shepherd a name like Threo.
"Woof woof woof!" Hearing its name, Threo happily barked, looking particularly goofy, making Abigail laugh heartily.
Seeing this, Benjamin frowned slightly, "Keep it for now. Once we find the owner, we’ll return it."
Abigail nodded. After Benjamin left, her smile faded. She gently caressed the dress, not sure if she would see that man tomorrow.
