Chapter 666: Chapter 666 Brandon, Mom is doing this for your own good
An hour later, Brandon Piers arrived at the Waldorf.
Entering the hotel, Brandon knocked on Eva Bell’s room door.
Eva had been waiting for a long time, opened the door for Brandon, then turned away and walked inside, full of cold indifference.
Brandon wasn’t too surprised, followed his mother, and closed the door behind him. He watched her sit at the bar and pour herself a drink, "Mother, we need to talk."
Many things needed to be settled.
"Do you know what this is?" Eva ignored Brandon, holding up a small remote control instead.
Brandon guessed what it was at a glance, feeling a slight pain in his chest as his gaze turned cold. "Whether I know or not, what difference does it make?"
"Ayang, you really are a genius. Even though you and Sofia are twins, you are nothing alike. You resemble him too much at times, evoking an uncontrollable urge to destroy." Eva whispered as if talking to herself.
Brandon looked at his mother with a calm expression, "So when father died, you planned to destroy me? Destroy all evidence of your love for him?"
"You don’t seem surprised at all." Brandon’s calmness made Eva hesitate for a moment.
"So you should know your things can’t threaten me." Brandon thought of the chip Abigail had taken from his chest, indeed it was his mother’s doing.
"I know, of course, I know." Eva mumbled, she certainly knew that her son had recovered, after all, she had it implanted. But today she wasn’t betting on whether Brandon loved her or that woman; she bet on...
Suddenly, Eva raised her head and stared at her son, "When I implanted yours, I also put one in myself. Ayang, when your father died, I didn’t want to destroy you, I just wanted us to reunite as a family." Eva’s eyes carried hopelessness and deep pain, twisted by unrequited love.
Brandon frowned, waiting for Eva to continue.
Sure enough, after a moment of emotional upheaval, Eva pointed to her chest, "The remote controlled chip isn’t for yours, but mine. I’ll give you three minutes to decide, either I trigger the bomb, or you marry Bertha Swift."
After hearing this, Brandon thought the question was as ridiculous as, "If your girlfriend and mother fell into a river, who would you save first?"
Only, the questioner had changed from his girlfriend to his mother.
Brandon looked at the gleam and expectation in Eva’s eyes, his voice steady, "Mother, do you find this funny?"
"Yes, I find it very amusing." Brandon’s words intrigued Eva even more, she wanted to know the answer so badly.
Back then, Henry chose Minnie Swift, now who would her son choose?
Brandon could guess Eva’s thoughts, but he couldn’t fulfill her wishes. He could only apologetically respond, "I’m sorry, I won’t marry Bertha Swift."
Eva was somewhat certain; after all, she was Brandon’s mother. She couldn’t win over her husband, but she could win over the son she bore for ten months, right?
But she never expected Brandon’s answer to be so straightforward, without even a struggle. She was stunned, disbelief in her eyes.
"Sorry." Brandon apologized again, "Mother, I am not Father, and I won’t let your past tragedy repeat. If you insist on using your life to force me to marry a woman I don’t love, then I can only be unfilial."
"You’re willing to do this to me for her? For a woman? Brandon Piers, do you feel worthy of my ten-month pregnancy?" Eva’s dignified air collapsed as she pointed her finger at Brandon and questioned him.
"If Father had been as decisive as I am, Mother, perhaps you would’ve lived happier." Brandon looked at his obsessive mother, his voice still calm.
"Hah, what do you know? You understand nothing!" Eva angrily swung her sleeve, smashing the half-bottle of wine on the white floor, staining it blood-red.
But Eva acted as if she hadn’t seen it, scolding Brandon loudly. Everyone was so self-righteous, thinking they could understand another’s pain. In reality, they understood nothing! Happiness? How could she have happiness? Since knowing her husband deeply loved another woman, happiness was already impossible!
"You don’t understand." Brandon avoided the spilt wine, frowning as he looked at the somewhat hysterical woman. He hadn’t seen his mother for a long time, thinking he had forgotten those days of listening to their endless quarrels, watching his beautiful and noble mother turn into a madwoman.
Love moved the heart; it also turned people into lunatics.
"I don’t understand?" Eva deeply hated her son’s attitude, reminding her of the loathsome Henry, with that empathetic look in his eyes making her go mad.
Not being loved was already unbearable for her. To endure their pity and sympathy? "Then tell me how to understand?"
"You never believed Father, never believed he loved you." Brandon looked into his mother’s eyes and spoke every word clearly.
Yes, his mother thought his father didn’t love her, but it wasn’t true. He did love her, but she never believed it.
Eva laughed after hearing this, a laugh filled with sarcasm. Henry loved her?
"My dear son, are you telling me a joke? But it’s okay. Didn’t you say I don’t understand? Then I want to see if your woman understands." Eva suddenly smiled at her son.
An adverse feeling rose in Brandon’s heart. He turned to leave, but suddenly stumbled, barely standing steady. He turned back, a sharp look in his eyes, "Eva, what did you do to me?"
Brandon felt his strength drain away. He hadn’t touched anything since he came in, but now he couldn’t even walk properly. As his gaze fell on the red wine stain on the floor, he suddenly understood something.
His mother really went to great lengths to scheme against him.
"You said I don’t understand love? I want to see if your woman can calmly accept it when she sees you with another woman, and if she can live as happily as you say." Eva opened the bedroom door as she spoke.
Looking over, Brandon saw Bertha Swift, who was supposed to have left before his arrival, dressed in sexy lingerie, sitting on the bed. She first looked to Eva for help, then turned her longing gaze to Brandon, "Second Young Master, help me..."
"Eva!" Brandon raged.
Eva only smiled, the lines at the corners of her eyes revealing her true age, but her tone was much gentler than before, "Ayang, be good. Mom is doing this for your good. Help Bertha. She is more suitable for you than Abigail Green."
How could she not know her son’s eyes were on her? So she made all the preparations before Bertha Swift arrived.
If Ayang slept with Bertha, based on Abigail’s character, would she still accept him? And with the Swift family’s nature, they wouldn’t let Ayang go.
So, he’ll marry her whether he wants to or not.
