Chapter 659: What’s in that little head of yours?

Chapter 659: Chapter 659: What’s in that little head of yours?

Brandon Piers brought an ice pack in. Abigail was still sitting there angrily.

"Come here," Brandon Piers said, a gentle smile playing on his lips, his soft voice laced with a warmth that made one want to melt.

Abigail turned her head away proudly, refusing to look at the man.

Brandon’s smile grew wider as he moved closer to Abigail. "Apply it to your face first. Otherwise, the swelling will get worse."

"Hmph," Abigail scoffed, feeling childish but still unwilling to show a better face, keeping her expression taut.

Brandon didn’t mind. He pulled her into his arms and applied the ice pack to her swollen face.

"Ouch..."

Abigail hissed in pain. Brandon’s body instantly tensed up. He suddenly raised his head and instructed Pullan, "Go to the hospital."

He said it while holding the ice pack with one hand and wrapping his arm around Abigail with the other. "We’re going to the hospital."

"Pullan, don’t turn around," Abigail hurriedly stopped them. Her face was swollen, not seriously injured. Going to the hospital would only result in an ice pack; this man was really...

Abigail couldn’t think of the right word, but her mood improved inexplicably.

It was troublesome for the driver, Peter, and the co-passenger, Pullan, who pretended to see and hear nothing. So were they going to the hospital or not?

"Second young master..." Peter asked Brandon Piers for his opinion through the rearview mirror.

Abigail glared at the man. "By the time we get to the hospital, my face might already be unswollen. Let’s go home."

"Alright," Brandon replied reluctantly, then instructed Peter to continue to the villa.

As the car drove down the road, Abigail felt the warmth of the man’s back. Most of her anger dissipated, and she asked softly, "Will it hurt your feelings?"

Brandon was first taken aback but then realized what Abigail was asking. Hurt? He thought he was long past the stage of feeling hurt.

Motherly love was something he saw differently from Abigail, so he had no such expectations.

Last time, when Abigail handed him the chip, the waves in his heart had already settled. Now, it was just a slap; it couldn’t affect him.

However, looking at the woman in his arms, Brandon couldn’t help but feel guilty.

His little cutie didn’t have a perfect and happy family, and he couldn’t give her one either. Instead, she had to endure the harshness of his mother.

"Hmm?" Abigail looked up at him with some worry when Brandon didn’t respond.

Brandon shook his head at Abigail and kissed her on the lips, holding her tighter. "I feel sorry for you."

Abigail understood what he meant. "I’m fine, but if she ever hits you again, I won’t be able to control myself from hitting her back."

Today she was too shocked to react, but it might not be the same next time. She hadn’t used needles for a while.

"Ha, alright." Brandon, at his age, was being protected by a woman for the first time and hearing such bold words from his little cutie. His heart felt warm, and everything else could be ignored.

Who would’ve thought Abigail turned to him and said, "Aren’t you afraid people will say I’m disrespectful?"

"There’s nothing I can do. I’m used to it." Brandon said, changing the direction of the ice pack on her face. His gaze fell on the persistent marks of the five fingers, and his eyes darkened. He remembered what his mother said today and knew she wasn’t just talking.

Abigail’s face still hurt, but her heart felt sweet. "Don’t worry, I’ll do it without anyone knowing."

"Baby, you’re the best." Brandon sincerely praised.

Abigail blushed. She found that when this man spoke sweetly, there was no room for a woman. But she was still thinking about something earlier. She twisted a little and asked awkwardly, "Do you think I’m not as big as I used to be?"

After asking, Abigail was too ashamed to lift her head. She never thought that the dignified Dr. Smith would act this silly in love.

But if she didn’t ask, she would feel stifled.

"Pfft..." Brandon chuckled when he heard this. He then turned Abigail’s head to face him, pinched her nose, and said, "Tell me what’s in that little head of yours?"

"Rubbish," Abigail felt mocked again and retorted angrily.

Brandon laughed more joyfully. "Why do I feel like you’re cursing me?"

"Narcissist."

Abigail snorted lightly, and then heard the man whisper in her ear, "I don’t mind."

"Hmph," Abigail snorted again pridefully, but then she heard Brandon teasingly add, "Not at all."

Abigail instantly exploded again, but despite her anger, she felt particularly happy.

They arrived at the villa an hour later. Although the swelling on Abigail’s face had subsided a bit, the marks of the five fingers were still very obvious. She knew they would only become more pronounced over the next three days.

She originally planned to go to school tomorrow, but now she had to wait for a few days.

She could avoid Lena and the others at school, but she couldn’t avoid her grandfather.

As soon as they returned to the villa, Aunt Claudia saw her face and cried in worry. Abigail had to make up an excuse to get by.

But she could fool Aunt Claudia but not her grandfather.

During dinner, Mr. Smith saw Abigail’s face and got so angry he almost smashed his bowl. "Her temper has really grown these past few years. She thinks everyone is as tolerant as Henry, but she’s gone too far. I’ll go see her!"

Though Mr. Smith felt some guilt towards Eva Bell, he cherished Abigail more and couldn’t see his granddaughter-in-law being mistreated.

Besides, if the head of the Smith family knew, he wouldn’t stop fighting over it.

"Grandfather, don’t be upset. Aunt didn’t hit me; she hit Brandon. I just shielded him." Abigail quickly explained, even though she didn’t have a good impression of Eva Bell now; she didn’t want her grandfather to worry at his age.

When Mr. Smith heard it was his grandson who got hit, he turned to Brandon, "How could you be so dumb? She hits you, and you don’t dodge, letting Abigail shield you?"

"Grandfather, I was wrong." Brandon, who rarely admitted mistakes, accepted it solemnly this time.

This made Mr. Smith feel a bit uncomfortable, realizing his grandson probably felt the most guilty about Abigail being hurt. He sighed, "Acknowledging your mistake is good. Don’t do something so foolish again. Also, tomorrow is Piers’ anniversary celebration. You didn’t attend in previous years, but you must make an appearance this year."

Brandon understood his grandfather’s meaning and nodded. However, his gaze fell on Abigail’s face. "Abigail, tomorrow..."

"Enough. Abigail’s face will be at its worst tomorrow. Don’t think of making her go. You go alone," Grayson Piers said irritably.

"Alright." Brandon knew Abigail probably couldn’t attend with him tomorrow, but the thought of facing those women’s fanatical gazes made him feel a headache coming.

Watching her man get reprimanded by her grandfather, Abigail couldn’t help but smile. But then it tugged at her cheek, making her wince in pain, and she gave up gleefully.

Brandon found it amusing and picked soft food for her, making Mr. Smith’s teeth ache.

Who would’ve thought his cold-hearted grandson would be like this in love?
