Chapter 636: Chapter 636: The Fat Guys are Indeed the Dark Horses
Durin.
Abigail informed her grandpa about Clara Smith’s condition. The Old Mr. Smith remained silent for a night before boarding the private jet Brandon Piers arranged. Elder Piers, who missed his grandson terribly, came along as well.
By April in Durin, the weather was getting warmer.
Brandon Piers and Abigail went together to pick up the two elders.
The two elders had already seen Abigail through video calls, so they were not too surprised. But Pullan, who was escorting Old Mr. Smith and Elder Piers, had never seen her.
He watched in astonishment as the second young master walked over holding the hand of a stunning woman, thinking quietly, "Has the second young master abandoned the young mistress?"
Wasn’t it said that they had found the young mistress? Why was he with such a beautiful woman?
Did the second young master finally realize he needed someone equally attractive?
A series of questions emerged in Pullan’s mind, but at the scene, neither Old Mr. Smith nor Elder Piers showed any confusion as they calmly conversed with the couple.
Could it be that this woman was so skilled she won over the two difficult elders from a distance?
That couldn’t be right. Even if she managed with Elder Piers, what about Old Mr. Smith? The young mistress was his apprentice!
Just as Pullan glanced at Abigail for the Nth time, Brandon Piers suddenly stopped, "Are you planning to lose your eyes?"
"Ah? Second young master, I’m sorry." As soon as Pullan heard the second young master’s words and saw his dangerous look, he immediately admitted his mistake without thinking.
Brandon Piers snorted coldly and wrapped an arm around Abigail’s waist. He noticed many people at the airport staring at his petite sweetheart, feeling a bit displeased. This weight loss was attracting too much attention.
Pullan, feeling chastised, kept his head down.
Abigail glanced at Pullan curiously, then whispered to Brandon Piers, "Has he been misbehaving because you’ve been away lately?"
"Hmph." Brandon Piers snorted again, adjusted Abigail’s head, preventing her from looking at Pullan.
Abigail chuckled. This jealous man.
But Abigail had no time to delve into Pullan’s strangeness. She took her grandpa’s arm and whispered, "Her condition is not good. Be mentally prepared and try not to be too harsh."
"Don’t worry unnecessarily. I know what to do." The old man snapped.
Abigail felt a bit solemn. She understood her grandpa’s temper. Many compromises he made this year were because she had once faced death. Whether he could speak kindly to Clara Smith remained a mystery.
However, teaching her grandpa what to do was also impossible.
It would be disrespectful and not what Clara Smith would want.
"Okay." After hesitating for a while, Abigail nodded.
Elder Piers overheard and disdainfully looked at Church Smith, "Old man, always causing trouble for your granddaughter."
"Mind your own business." Church Smith replied haughtily, then turned to Abigail, "Don’t worry, Abigail. After all these years, would I eat her? Besides, have you ever seen a father and daughter hold grudges?"
"Got it. Grandpa, you’re the best." Abigail smiled.
Elder Piers interjected, "I am also Grandpa."
"Yes. Grandpa is the best. I like Grandfather Piers the most." Abigail didn’t lie. Compared to her stubborn old man, she indeed preferred Elder Piers’ open-minded character.
Church Smith exclaimed, "A married granddaughter is like water thrown out!"
Everyone laughed.
Pullan, listening in aside, was thoroughly confused.
This beautiful, elegant woman was also named Abigail and was Grandpa Smith’s granddaughter?
He couldn’t help but look at Abigail again, this time locking eyes with the pair that were identical to Teddy’s.
Pullan’s head buzzed. His tough, stoic face went blank as he stared at Abigail, "Young... young mistress..."
Everyone paused hearing Pullan’s words, then snorted dismissively at him and proceeded towards the car.
Pullan couldn’t grasp their disdain, his mind fixated on the realization that this woman was the young mistress. She was the young mistress. How was that possible?
He had simply assumed that the second young master had finally come around and found a new love. Part of him felt sorry for the young mistress, but another part thought it was good the second young master wasn’t fixated on a single chubby tree. But he hadn’t considered that this person was the young mistress.
Why didn’t anyone tell him that the young mistress had lost weight and become so beautiful?
It was too unbelievable!
Pullan couldn’t help but glance at Abigail again, only to meet their second young master’s cold gaze. Trembling, Pullan quickly explained, "I was just curious, just curious..."
Then he dared not look at the young mistress again. But inside, he marveled at how those overweight potentials had truly blossomed. It was incredible!
He could imagine the faces of those who mocked the second young master’s taste when they saw the transformed young mistress in Swallow City.
Their second young master’s taste wasn’t poor or peculiar; it was exceptionally discerning beyond ordinary people’s understanding!
The people walking ahead couldn’t feel Pullan’s turbulent mind and arrived travel-worn at the villa.
Though seated in a private jet, the two elders were still exhausted after a more than ten-hour flight. They played with Teddy for a while before heading to bed.
The next morning, Church Smith woke up early.
When Abigail came downstairs carrying Teddy, the old man was already sitting in the living room, fully dressed.
Seeing her grandpa in a Zhongshan suit, hair meticulously combed, Abigail felt amused yet a bit sad. The stubborn old man had softened for his granddaughter and now his daughter.
"Grandpa, you don’t have to be so nervous." Abigail approached and handed Teddy over, leaning down to whisper, "Say ’Grandpa.’"
"Papa..." Teddy mumbled in a baby voice. The little guy, soon to celebrate his first birthday, could utter new words, though many were still imperfect.
"Good boy, Teddy." The old man was overjoyed hearing his great-grandchild, but still grumbled at Abigail, "Who’s nervous? An unfilial daughter doesn’t make me nervous!"
"Sure, sure." Abigail didn’t argue, whether he was nervous or not the old man knew himself.
Feeling dismissed by his granddaughter, Old Mr. Smith huffed in anger and turned to play with Teddy. The older, the more adorable. They were all disobedient once grown.
Thinking of this made the old man feel troubled. Reflecting on his daughter, he sighed heavily.
Seeing her abandon Abigail back then, he regretted it immediately and had been searching for her since. When she had an accident, he had checked on her just...
He sighed again, not wanting to think further. It was his fault back then!
After a simple family breakfast, Elder Piers, Aunt Claudia, and the others stayed to watch over Teddy, while Brandon Piers took Old Mr. Smith and Abigail to the hospital.
At the hospital, Daniel was already waiting. Seeing Church Smith, he naturally greeted him, "Grandpa."
Abigail froze, "You two know each other?"
"Daniel has been to the Courtyard House," the old man replied calmly, pointing to the ward, "She’s inside?"
Daniel nodded, "Yes."
"You all wait outside." The old man suddenly exuded authority and, after speaking to them, walked into the ward.
Abigail watched her grandpa, who was impeccably dressed but hunched with age, and thought of the frail woman inside, closing her eyes tightly.
