Chapter 610: What are you shy about?

Chapter 610: Chapter 610: What are you shy about?

Because of the concussion, Abigail was especially prone to drowsiness.

She closed her eyes and fell asleep again.

Brandon Piers looked at the sleeping woman, unable to express his full grievance.

Alex came in and saw his family’s second young master sitting by the young mistress’s bedside with a gloomy face. What had happened?

Didn’t the doctor say she woke up? Why did the second young master still have this expression?

"Second young master, you should eat something," Alex said cautiously, holding two portions of food.

Brandon didn’t even spare him a glance. "Just leave it there."

"Second young master, you haven’t eaten anything since yesterday. Eat a little now? You’ll have time to accompany the young mistress when she wakes up," Alex mentioned Abigail again.

Unexpectedly, after he finished speaking, Brandon glanced at him, gave a cold hum, and said nothing more.

Alex was left baffled. Was he supposed to eat or not?

"Second young master..."

"Get out." Alex still wanted to speak but was driven out by Brandon’s single sentence.

Alex dared not say another word, obediently leaving the ward. Only then did he remember he had something to report, but thinking of Brandon’s expression, he sighed quietly. He decided to wait a little longer.

Abigail was jolted awake by a nightmare.

In the dream, she returned to the day they broke up. The sound of an explosion startled her, and then she felt a throbbing pain all over.

Seeing this, Brandon thought he had been too loud and quickly approached, "Abigail, are you okay? Did I scare you?"

It took Abigail a while to regain some clarity. She looked at the man in front of her, dazed.

Her mind was still foggy, memories stuck at their breakup. Staring at the haggard man in front of her, other memories slowly returned, making her feelings more complex.

Brandon felt puzzled as Abigail looked at him and touched his own cheek. "Is there something on my face?"

"I’m hungry." Abigail looked at his gaunt cheeks, sighed inwardly, and hoarsely said.

Brandon was delighted. He quickly raised the bed a bit, set up a small table, and brought out the insulated box. "Aunt Claudia made this for you. It’s light. You’ll have to make do with it until you feel better."

"Okay." Abigail nodded and pointed to his insulated box. "You should eat too."

Brandon looked at her in confusion, feeling her attitude was odd. She seemed colder but also showed concern in a more familiar way, yet more distant.

Abigail sensed Brandon’s curiosity but pretended not to notice. She lowered her head and quietly drank her porridge.

Brandon watched for a while but saw nothing unusual, so he opened his food and began eating by her side.

Abigail could feel his every move, her heart tightening slightly. She tried to appear normal but didn’t want him to know she had regained her memory.

After eating half a bowl, Abigail couldn’t eat anymore. She pushed her bowl toward him. "I’m full."

"Just this little?" Brandon frowned.

Abigail shook her head and gloomily replied, "Nauseous. Can’t eat."

Her words startled Brandon, who looked at her.

She looked back at him, puzzled. Brandon pretended nothing had happened, took her unfinished bowl, and resumed eating. His heart was slightly stirred. He couldn’t tell if her injury or a newfound affection made her tone sound like she was acting spoiled, with a touch of grievance.

Since finding Abigail, it was the first time he had seen her show such emotions toward him.

Brandon’s frustration from Abigail’s lack of concern for him disappeared.

Abigail, suffering from dizziness and nausea due to the concussion and overwhelmed by unpleasant memories, couldn’t eat and casually pushed her bowl to him. Unexpectedly, Brandon ate her leftovers without hesitation. Feeling uneasy, she reminded him, "I already ate from that..."

"Yes." Brandon knew, without looking up.

Earlier, Alex’s urging hadn’t bothered him, but now he felt hungry after a few bites. Quickly finishing his portion and Abigail’s, he looked up to see her embarrassed expression. Suddenly feeling mischievous, he teased, "Why are you shy? Haven’t I eaten everything of yours before?"

Abigail looked at him, confused. What had he eaten of hers?

Seeing her bewilderment, Brandon leaned over, nibbled her earlobe, and whispered, "Don’t understand? I’ll explain when you’re better."

Her body trembled. Was he teasing her? What did he mean?

Seeing her startled expression, Brandon took the opportunity to peck her lips.

Abigail glared at him, furious.

Brandon, however, explained seriously, "There was rice on that spot."

Abigail didn’t believe him, but despite her anger, her cheeks reddened uncontrollably. She finally understood why she couldn’t resist this man. How could she resist when he seduced her like this?

But thinking about how he didn’t trust her and decisively broke up without hearing her explanation, her eyes dimmed. Yet, seeing his overly handsome, haggard face, she couldn’t muster the harsh words. Instead, she urged, "I’m sleepy. You should rest too."

If she guessed right, he must have watched over her all night.

It pained her heart.

"Are you a pig? Sleep again after sleeping so long?" Brandon reluctantly left when her attitude toward him had just softened. Plus, she hadn’t mentioned Jeffrey Foster even once since their meal.

Abigail didn’t respond, merely laying down and closing her eyes again.

Brandon watched her, chuckling softly. This little rascal was intentionally driving him away.

But who was he?

Soon, a new bed was brought into Abigail’s single ward, placed right next to hers.

Hearing the commotion, she opened her eyes to see Brandon lying beside her, his amber eyes focused intently on her. Caught watching her, he didn’t care and instead reached out, "Abigail, I can only sleep holding your hand."

His tone was genuinely aggrieved.

Abigail remained silent.

Before she could refuse, Brandon’s arm had already reached over, holding her hand, "Alright, sleep now."

Abigail looked down at their clasped hands, her emotions even more tangled. She realized she had no way of dealing with this man.

Never mind.

Looking at Brandon’s dark blue eyelids, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse. She sighed quietly, glanced at his handsome face, struggled inwardly, and finally closed her eyes.

But perhaps she had slept too much, as she wasn’t sleepy at all. Instead, as the anesthesia wore off, her wounds started hurting.

And her head. The concussion made her head throb terribly, cold sweat forming on her forehead. She felt especially weak but didn’t want to disturb his sleep, so she endured it silently.

Unexpectedly, Brandon, who seemed asleep, suddenly opened his eyes. "Are you uncomfortable somewhere?"
