Chapter 608: Abigail, Don’t....

Chapter 608: Chapter 608: Abigail, Don’t....

"Get out, bitch!" The man holding the gun hissed in pain. He cursed and shot at Abigail.

Abigail seized the slow reaction of her opponent, kicking him hard on his numb arm, then turned and ran.

Bang!

A gunshot echoed behind her. Fortunately, the opponent’s aim was off due to the earlier hit. She narrowly avoided the bullet but ran straight into Jeffrey.

He pulled her behind him. "Abigail, are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Abigail shook her head quickly.

People from the nearby villa heard the commotion and rushed over.

The assassin realized he was exposed and stopped entangling with them. He fled through the back door of the villa.

Abigail let out a long sigh of relief as she caught the strong smell of alcohol from her senior. Guilt flashed in her eyes. "Are you okay? Who was that just now?"

"I’m fine. As for that person...," mentioning the person from earlier, Jeffrey thought of the call he had abruptly ended before coming here. His expression grew grim. After a moment of hesitation, he replied, "Hearst knows that I’m not dead."

"Hearst knows you’re alive?" Abigail was puzzled. Wasn’t Hearst Jeffrey’s father? Why would he come after his own son when something happened to the Foster family?

Seeing Abigail’s confused expression, Jeffrey remembered that she didn’t know about his actions. He fell silent for a moment before speaking. "I exposed the Foster family’s crimes."

"No wonder," Abigail suddenly realized. While she felt sorry for her senior, she also felt a tinge of heartache. No matter what, Jeffrey was still Hearst’s son. His father actually had the heart to harm him.

Just as she finished speaking, she suddenly recalled what the assassin had said. The target was Abigail Green? So Hearst was after her too?

"Teddy’s awake and looking for you." Before Abigail could comfort Jeffrey, Brandon, who had been checking the visitors of the day, interrupted the conversation between the pair standing in the adjoining yard.

Jeffrey shot a glance at Brandon. His expression didn’t look good, but unlike before, he didn’t stop Abigail. "I’ll go check on things. You... go take care of Teddy."

Abigail, seeing her senior’s forlorn expression, glanced at Brandon. She saw Jeffrey walking back into the villa.

Brandon ignored Abigail’s glare, feeling quite satisfied as he cast a glance toward Jeffrey.

But to his surprise, Abigail followed in Jeffrey’s footsteps the next moment.

"Abigail..." Brandon’s amber eyes flashed with worry.

Abigail gave him a look of disdain. Where was his concern earlier when things were urgent?

Hmph!

Abigail’s heart let out a cold snort. She glanced at the oversized trench coat she was wearing and continued to follow Jeffrey.

While Brandon grew anxious, Jeffrey, guessing Abigail’s intention, did not feel pleased. Instead, he smiled bittersweetly as he pushed the door open. Just as he was about to enter, Abigail yanked him back.

Jeffrey turned back, puzzled. "Abigail, what’s wrong?"

Brandon’s two bodyguards had searched the villa earlier and ensured it was safe.

Abigail shook her head, her sharp ears picking up a faint ticking sound like that of a clock. Her face turned pale. She suddenly lunged at Jeffrey. "Watch out!"

Boom!

"Abigail..."

"Abigail!"

As Abigail shouted, the villa suddenly resounded with an explosion.

Brandon ran frantically toward the explosion. His eyes turned red. "Abigail, Abigail!"

Jeffrey, being tackled by Abigail, immediately had an idea. Embracing her tightly, he rolled to the side. Despite their efforts, the shockwave from the explosion still hit them hard, and shrapnel rained down on both of them.

Brandon, running up, was also caught in the aftermath. But he didn’t care. Instead, he shielded the two unconscious people with his body.

"Sir..."

The bodyguards who arrived in time were panicked. They hurriedly carried the trio out of the explosion site, but Abigail and Jeffrey had already passed out.

Brandon’s back was also injured, but he couldn’t be bothered. He scooped up Abigail. "Abigail, Abigail, don’t..."

The last time Abigail was in an explosion, Brandon had nearly lost his mind. At least then, he hadn’t witnessed the incident. Even though it wasn’t her in the end, this time was different. He had seen Abigail push Jeffrey and get caught in the explosion.

"Abigail, Abigail, wake up, wake up!"

Brandon felt he was on the verge of insanity. After painstakingly finding his beloved Abigail, how could he cope if something happened to her under his watch?

What would he do?

"Sir, calm down. Madam is still alive. We must get her to the hospital!" Alex, hearing the explosion from the other side, rushed over and stopped Brandon.

"Alive? She is still alive... Yes, we need to get Abigail to the hospital, we need to go to the hospital." Brandon muttered, holding Abigail tightly. The pain in his back caused him to grunt, but he didn’t let go of her as he rushed to the car.

Seeing this, Alex hurriedly ordered the others to bring Jeffrey and then went to drive.

Aunt Claudia, hearing the commotion, saw Brandon carrying an unconscious Abigail. She almost fainted. Fortunately, Juliet quickly supported her. "Aunt Claudia, this is not the time to panic. You cannot collapse now. Teddy still needs you. Madam will be fine."

Despite this, Aunt Claudia’s body trembled uncontrollably.

Brandon, holding Abigail in the car, wasn’t much better. Only when he placed her inside did he realize how much his hands were shaking. Seeing her unconscious state pained him deeply, wishing he had been the one to get hurt.

If only he had been the one injured!

Or he should have stopped her earlier, not letting her follow Jeffrey into the villa. And those two idiots who missed the bomb during their search...

Holding Abigail, Brandon was consumed by guilt and regret.

Seeing from the rearview mirror that Brandon was on the verge of collapse, Alex stepped on the gas, puzzled. It had taken so much effort for Abigail to break off her engagement to Jeffrey, allowing Brandon to come alive again.

How did it come to this?

If something happened to Abigail, what would Brandon do?

The more Alex thought, the more he shuddered. He sped up.

In the car behind them, Jeffrey was in no better condition than Abigail.

Both cars sped all the way, cutting the trip from one hour to half an hour.

Abigail and Jeffrey were then immediately rushed to the emergency room.

Brandon, pale, paced anxiously outside.

"Sir, your injuries need attention too!" Alex looked at Brandon’s exposed back wounds, urging him with concern.

But Brandon ignored him. "Investigate. I don’t care whose people they are; I want them to pay tenfold!"

"Understood."
