Reborn As Mr. Coldwell's Wife -
Chapter 51: No Disruption
Chapter 51: No Disruption
Aubrey hummed happily as she stood in her hotel room, her voice carrying a light, joyful tune that mirrored her great mood. She twirled around the room, her floral dress flowing gracefully with her movements. It had been so long since she felt this excited, and the memory of the previous night with Mason was the source of her joy.
With a satisfied smile, Aubrey approached the vanity. She picked up her favorite red lipstick, the one she wore on special occasions, and carefully applied it to her lips. She leaned closer to the mirror, her eyes sparkling with happiness as she examined her reflection.
"Perfect," she murmured to herself, pressing her lips together to even out the color. The bold red contrasted beautifully with her fair skin, making her feel confident and attractive. It was a look she knew Mason had always liked, and the thought made her heart flutter.
Aubrey couldn’t believe that Mason had agreed to accompany her for coffee the other night. She had been nervous when she asked, afraid he might refuse or come up with an excuse. But he had said yes, and they had spent a pleasant evening together, talking and laughing just like old times. She couldn’t help but think, if Mason truly didn’t have feelings for her anymore, why would he agree to spend time with her?
She felt her sacrifices had finally been rewarded. Taking a few days off from work to come to Paris had been a gamble, but it seemed to be paying off. The prospect of spending more time with Mason filled her with excitement. She wanted to rekindle the connection they once had, to remind him of the good times they shared.
"Oh, I probably should give Gerald a big hug for tipping me off about Mason coming to Paris," she said with a giggle, thinking of her old friend who had always been supportive of her. Gerald had given her the information she needed, and for that, she was grateful.
Aubrey did a final check in the mirror, making sure everything was perfect. Her hair was styled in soft waves that framed her face, and her dress fit her like a glove. She looked radiant, and she felt it too. Satisfied, she picked up her purse from the bed and slung it over her shoulder. She took a deep breath, her smile widening as she prepared to leave the room.
She walked towards the door, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor. As she reached for the handle, she paused for a moment, her thoughts drifting back to Mason. She was determined to make the most of her time here, to show him how much she still cared.
Stepping out into the hallway, Aubrey’s expression was one of sheer determination. The corridor was quiet, the soft hum of distant conversations barely audible. She walked with a confident stride, her head held high. The scent of her perfume lingered in the air, a delicate floral fragrance that followed her like a whisper of spring.
Her journey to the elevator was brief, but every step felt like a step closer to reclaiming something she thought she had lost. As she waited for the elevator to arrive, she took a moment to compose herself, smoothing out the fabric of her dress and adjusting the strap of her purse.
She couldn’t wait to see Mason again, to find more opportunities to spend time together. The memory of their coffee date played in her mind, a pleasant reminder of what they once had and what she hoped they could have again. She believed there was still a chance, that Mason’s willingness to be with her meant something significant.
She decided to head down to the restaurant for breakfast, hoping to see Mason there. As she walked into the bright, bustling dining area, her heart skipped a beat. There, at a table near the large windows, sat Mason, eating his breakfast alone. It felt like fate was on her side.
With a radiant smile, Aubrey quickly made her way to the buffet. She grabbed a plate and began piling it with an assortment of breakfast foods. She wanted to look casual and composed, even though her excitement was bubbling beneath the surface.
Balancing her plate and a glass of orange juice, she approached Mason’s table. "Good morning, Mason," she said cheerfully, sliding into the seat across from him.
Mason looked up, his expression neutral. "Morning," he replied, before returning to his meal.
Aubrey’s smile didn’t falter. She took a deep breath and began to eat, feeling a warmth spread through her at the thought of sharing this moment with him. She glanced at Mason, noting the way his hair fell slightly into his eyes and the focused way he cut into his food. It was a simple scene, but to her, it was perfect.
She couldn’t help but think to herself how happy she was to be eating breakfast with Mason. Most importantly, Ellen wasn’t there to interrupt or ruin the moment. Aubrey glanced around the room, a small part of her nervous that Ellen might appear out of nowhere. She sighed in relief when she didn’t see her anywhere.
"Isn’t it a lovely morning?" Aubrey said, trying to make conversation.
Mason nodded, taking a sip of his coffee. "Yeah, it is."
Aubrey’s heart swelled. Even though Mason wasn’t saying much, he was here with her, and that was enough for now. She continued eating, savoring each bite not just for the taste, but for the company she was in. She couldn’t believe her luck—sitting here, sharing breakfast with Mason without any interruptions. It felt like a small victory.
She took another look around the room, more out of habit than anything else. There was no sign of Ellen, and for that, Aubrey was grateful.
Aubrey turned her attention back to Mason, her eyes softening as she watched him. "Do you have any plans for today?" she asked, hoping to extend their time together.
Mason looked up from his plate, his gaze meeting Aubrey’s with a stern expression.
