Chapter 814: Drawing Cards
Chapter 814: Chapter 814: Drawing Cards
A few girls gathered around to comfort Jun Feifei.
Wei Rong consoled her, "Oh, there are plenty of fish in the sea. Once you’re in college, there will be plenty of young men chasing after you. You’re a pretty rich girl, there will definitely be lots of guys after you."
Yue Qingqing took a tissue to wipe her tears, and Jun Feifei hugged her waist in response.
"My little fairy is still the best. Hic, I’ll never like men again."
Yue Qingqing was caught between laughter and tears, while Qu Ruorui and Lu Zhu suddenly looked towards the door.
Jun Feifei, with her slightly tipsy eyes, also squinted and saw Zhuang Lan coming over with a deck of cards in his hand.
Jun Feifei wiped her tears away, unwilling to show any vulnerability in front of Zhuang Lan.
"Don’t think you can lighten the mood by playing cards. I’m not sad at all."
"Okay." Zhuang Lan shuffled the cards a few times, then fanned them out. "Pick a card."
Jun Feifei hiccuped, "W-what?"
"You like those fortune-telling things, right? Pick a card, and if I can find it, we’ll be together."
A deck of cards has fifty-four cards.
A one in fifty-four chance.
Even though Jun Feifei wasn’t good at math, she knew the odds were slim—this was practically another form of harmless rejection.
But inexplicably, Jun Feifei still picked a card.
"The Ace of Hearts."
She despised herself; even with such slim odds, she couldn’t give up.
Zhuang Lan nodded, indicating for Jun Feifei to put the card back.
The girls who caught on to what was happening couldn’t help but laugh.
Especially Yue Qingqing, who laughed particularly happily.
Originally thinking it was unrequited love, but after going around in circles, it turned out they just needed to break the ice.
Zhuang Lan shuffled the cards again.
Under Jun Feifei’s unblinking gaze, he picked the top card.
Flipping it over, Jun Feifei’s heart pounded fiercely.
The Ace of Hearts.
It was the chosen card.
Jun Feifei suddenly cheered, her face blushing red, looking both drunk and excited.
Zhuang Lan: "What does this mean?"
"It’s fate? Even the heavens couldn’t stand seeing you trample on my affections, so they had to force us together."
Before she finished, Zhuang Lan curled his finger and knocked her gently on the head.
"Idiot, it means you’re an easy mark, that you couldn’t even see through my trick."
Jun Feifei was jolted by the light knock, feeling like fireworks had exploded in her chest.
In an instant, everything before her was a blur of light, leaving her speechless with joy.
Now it was Zhuang Lan’s turn to ramble on.
"Since you were young, you believed in all that superstitious stuff, always scared of this and that. If no one watches over you, won’t you just get led astray?"
Jun Feifei held her head, looking dazed and dumbfounded, losing all her usual flamboyance.
Zhuang Lan frowned, "Did you hear what I said?"
Jun Feifei obediently nodded.
Zhuang Lan chuckled and placed the Ace of Hearts in Jun Feifei’s hand.
"Keep this. From now on, don’t get tricked by anyone else. Remember to use science to defeat superstition."
Jun Feifei pursed her lips, staring at the card in her hand, and couldn’t help but ask.
"What about you tricking me?"
Zhuang Lan smirked, "That’s just your tough luck. You’re so dumb, and I’m so smart. Isn’t it only natural you’d fall for me?"
Jun Feifei’s eyes suddenly sparkled brightly, as if she couldn’t believe it, and she jumped to her friends.
"Pinch me someone!"
"Did I drink too much and start dreaming?"
The girls tentatively pinched Jun Feifei’s face, and she suddenly went soft and leaned into Yue Qingqing’s arms.
"She’s really drunk." Yue Qingqing laughed, turning to Zhuang Lan, "You better take her back to sober up."
Zhuang Lan resumed his usual serious demeanor, holding Jun Feifei’s wrist and half-supporting her as they left.
The rest of them looked at the table full of food and suddenly lost their appetite.
Who needs food?
We’ve had our fill of dog food.
