Reborn As Lucky Star -
Chapter 726: Subtle
Chapter 726: Chapter 726: Subtle
The summer vacation from the second to the third year of high school always goes by particularly fast.
It’s not because the happy times fly by in an instant.
But because Lingguang No.1 Middle School has a rule that these students who just entered their senior year of high school must start school half a month earlier than the new freshmen and sophomores.
For the sake of the college entrance examination pass rate as well as the students’ personal scores, they will officially enter their senior year from this moment on and begin to undergo rigorous training.
They had barely arrived at school when they were hit with a surprise quiz.
The students were caught off guard, but luckily the holiday was so short that they hadn’t had time to "return" their knowledge to the teachers.
After the test concluded, the grade’s head teacher announced.
In order to get the students used to the college entrance exam from now on, there will be a test every two weeks before the final mock examination.
The scores of each test will be made public to the whole grade.
No sooner had these words been spoken than a chorus of groans rang out from below, all sounding feeble even in their protest.
The frequent tests left the students, still young, starting to experience the crisis of hair loss.
The group of four had already gotten used and to doing papers, but even they felt somewhat tired.
By the time the freshmen and sophomores had experienced the joy of a full summer vacation and finally came to the opening ceremony,
They discovered that the new seniors looked like frostbitten eggplants, each of them moving sluggishly, as if they were extras in a zombie movie.
After evening self-study, Qu Ruorui collapsed in her chair upon returning to the dormitory.
"I can’t take it anymore, my calluses are getting thicker, how am I supposed to get through the days like this?"
This was not, by any stretch, an exercise of the mind but purely physical torture.
Yue Qingqing, being a cultivator, coped relatively well.
"You rest today, I’ll fetch the water for you," she offered.
Picking up both their thermoses, Qingqing headed out, while Ruorui looked on with a face full of gratitude.
"Qingqing, you’re my savior!"
The kid was becoming more and more whimsical, Qingqing thought with a smile as she walked out to the boiling water room.
The intense period of testing left everyone mentally and physically exhausted, but the fatigue gradually turned to relief when they soaked their feet in hot water every night.
Qingqing carried the filled thermoses back toward the dormitory.
She was strong, so they felt light in her hands, seemingly weightless.
Just as she reached the dormitory entrance, someone suddenly bumped into her.
Qingqing quickly dodged aside, only to find that the person who hurriedly bumped into her was Zhou Xitong.
Zhou Xitong had been covering her mouth, but upon seeing Qingqing, she lowered her hand and stood up straight.
"Are you blind? You almost bumped into me, and you’re carrying that thermos of boiling water. Are you trying to scald me on purpose?"
Qingqing figured this person must be sick in the head.
"It was you who bumped into me, right? And the thermos has a lid, so how would it scald you?"
Zhou Xitong clearly looked for an excuse to make a scene, abruptly switching the topic to something long past.
"I heard your so-called mother came to look for you at school. Turns out you’re a bastard, no wonder you have no manners."
Qingqing, not wanting to waste her breath, put down one thermos and opened the lid as if to splash.
"You’re always spewing nonsense, why don’t I help you rinse out your mouth?"
Xitong immediately took a step back in fright, "What are you trying to do?"
When Ruorui heard the noise and came out, she was none too pleased to see Xitong.
"What, you again?"
Xitong glared, getting ready to hurl a few insults at Ruorui, but suddenly bent over, covering her mouth as if she was about to throw up.
To Ruorui’s astonishment, Xitong turned and rushed toward the water room, moving so fast it took everyone by surprise.
"Serves you right, probably ate something bad!" Ruorui cursed at Xitong’s retreating figure.
This person was like a persistent ghost, how did they run into her again after so long?
However, Qingqing stared thoughtfully at Xitong.
There was something subtle about her energy, mixed with a hint of milky white.
