Zhuang Yuebin was puzzled when he received the call.

"Xiaoqin, tidy up the house a bit, Rouhui said she would be coming over."

Li Xiaoqin was also full of confusion, "Why is she coming over today? Doesn’t she usually have us go over for the New Year’s visit?"

Zhuang Rouhui was a very proud person but, paradoxically, due to a poor relationship with her husband and being cut off financially, her everyday life wasn’t very satisfactory.

But why did Zhuang Rouhui suddenly want to come over this year?

Zhuang Yuebin didn’t understand either, "She didn’t say much on the phone, just mentioned Xiaolan."

Mentioning anyone else was one thing, but when it came to her own son, Li Xiaoqin immediately became alert.

"Why would she involve Xiaolan all of a sudden?"

"How would I know? Anyway, it seemed like she wanted to see our son."

Li Xiaoqin put down the fruit tray, frowning, "No offense, but I’m a bit worried your sister might stir up trouble. Should I have Xiaolan go out for a bit?"

Zhuang Yuebin had thought the same a moment ago, but Zhuang Rouhui was, after all, his sister.

Though it was outrageous, family ties were still there, and he could only soothe his wife.

"What could possibly happen? Maybe she’s just coming to give lucky money, don’t always assume the worst of people."

Li Xiaoqin huffed, "It’s not like I don’t know her, and I’d rather not bring up the messy account books of her household."

Zhuang Rouhui herself wanted to cover it up, but which of the relatives didn’t know about her situation with the Li Family?

Li Fuhong had been seen by many mingling closely with other women.

It’s said that the employees in his company even treated that woman as if she were the lady boss.

Zhuang Yuebin made a ’stop’ gesture with his hand, "Cut it out, it’s the New Year. Even if ordinary relatives visit, we don’t ask anyone to leave, and besides, we’re here, what could possibly happen?"

Li Xiaoqin knew her husband still cared about family ties and didn’t press the issue.

"Alright, let’s drop it. I’ll go check on what your son is up to."

She knocked and entered the study, where Zhuang Lan had just finished a set of papers and was resting his eyes, pinching his nose bridge.

"Son, don’t just study, have some fruit to replenish your vitamins."

Li Xiaoqin placed a bright red apple on the table.

Zhuang Lan picked it up and took a crisp bite.

"Did I hear you and Dad mentioning aunt just now?"

Li Xiaoqin, in front of her son, didn’t speak ill of Zhuang Rouhui, but just smiled.

"Look at you, all ears even while studying. What else did you hear?"

Zhuang Lan took another bite of the apple, "What does she want with me?"

"We don’t know yet, we were just discussing that," Li Xiaoqin stood by the side, glancing at the physics papers on the table. Since Zhuang Lan graduated from elementary school, her understanding was limited mostly to the humanities.

"You know your aunt’s temper. Just go along with whatever she says and don’t talk back."

Zhuang Rouhui’s vanity often led to unkind words.

In earlier years, when her own son and daughter had good grades, she had something to brag about; however, later she heard that for some reason the kids often skipped school and barely attended anymore.

Zhuang Rouhui lost her bragging rights and started saying things like studying too much was useless when she saw Zhuang Lan, which caused them no end of trouble.

Fortunately, Zhuang Lan was always too lazy to bother with such things, pretending not to hear, thus avoiding further trouble.

"Understood," he replied.

Li Xiaoqin was about to say more when she suddenly heard voices coming from the living room.

"Rouhui, how did you get here so quickly? Just now, your sister-in-law and I were talking about making some of your favorite dishes..."

Li Xiaoqin’s mouth twitched almost imperceptibly, she patted her son’s back.

"She’s here, let’s go and welcome her."
