Chapter 137: Chapter 132: Invitation to Dinner

The two of them ate some candy floss, which served as a meal, and then took their things to catch the bus home.

The bus ride home wasn’t as smooth as usual since there was road construction happening in the city and the bus had to stop for a while.

By the time the two of them got home, it was almost past four in the afternoon.

Fortunately, they were still in time to greet people from the military family compound and invite them over for dinner, as the other families hadn’t started cooking yet.

After returning home, Fang Pingying cleaned every corner of the house thoroughly, then she arranged the candy floss they bought today and the jujube cakes and jujube flower cakes they brought from home on plates, setting them on the table for snacks later.

There are over ten families living in the military family compound. Some families’ daughters-in-law do not live there often, and their husbands don’t interact much with Luo Zhiyong and others, so they were not called over.

Those who came were Huang Lin and his wife, Instructor Su and his wife, and Luo Chun and his spouse from next door.

Another couple Fang Pingying met for the first time; the wife named Bai Jing seemed very aloof and not very talkative, apparently a nurse at a city hospital, not usually interacting much with people in the compound, appearing today probably because of her husband.

"Sister-in-law, you might not know, but these men we can’t control as wives, yet the army does. I bet Company Commander Zhou never did anything at home, but since joining the army, he’s really honed a good culinary skill. I think his wife, Doctor Bai, enjoys the benefits."

Fang Pingying glanced at Bai Jing, who was sitting quietly in the living room and laughed, "Yes, it’s great when men can cook. I’m so envious."

As soon as Fang Pingying finished, Xiao Juzi smirked and laughed, "Sister-in-law, what are you envious of? Your husband, Battalion Commander Luo, is also pretty good. Every time those men gather, I heard both Company Commander Zhou and your husband Battalion Commander Luo do the cooking."

"Right, and Instructor Su, I heard he’s also good."

Fang Pingying saw that the kitchen was small and couldn’t accommodate so many people, so she said to Luo Chun and Qiu Lian, "Alright, Chun’er and Sister-in-law Qiulin, you both have kids to watch, go look after them. Juzi can help me here; it’s only a few dishes, we’ll be able to eat soon."

The few of them chatted for a while, all about family matters.

Juzi had just walked away then, and Fang Pingying said, "Making clothes takes time, let’s see when Juzi is free. I’ll borrow it from their place when I can, and let you know."

Luo Chun quickly said, "Okay, tomorrow I will bring the fabric to your house and give you the measurements. You can make it whenever you have time, or just put it aside, I’m not in a rush to wear it."

With that said, Fang Pingying didn’t feel right to refuse and thus agreed, "Okay, bring it over when you are free."

After finishing the discussion about the sewing, Luo Chun went to the living room with the child.

This made Fang Pingying even more convinced that Luo Chun had stayed so long today for the sole purpose of saving some money on clothes.
