Reborn as a Rich Woman in the Eighties -
Chapter 511 - 510 Sweetness
Chapter 511: Chapter 510 Sweetness
Lu Zheng felt sorry for his wife, so seeing that it was still early, he wanted Lin Xia to sleep a bit longer. When she woke up, he didn’t make a sound either.
He took this opportunity to carefully look at his wife.
The more he looked, the more he liked her, the more he felt an infinite happiness and satisfaction.
He thought he must have done many good deeds in his past life to be lucky enough to marry such a wonderful woman as Lin Xia today.
Lin Xia woke up after who knows how long.
She looked at the light filtering through the curtains at the window, sleepily realizing that it was already dawn outside.
"What time is it?"
Only when she spoke did Lin Xia realize how hoarse her voice was.
Without taking the time to answer the question, Lu Zheng asked anxiously and caringly, "Wife! Why is your voice so hoarse?"
Lin Xia glared at Lu Zheng resentfully, "It’s all your fault!"
"Alright! It’s all my fault! My bad!" Lu Zheng silently shook his numb arm, sat up, and reached for the lidded enamel jar on the bedside table on his side and handed it to Lin Xia, "Then, first take a sip of water to moisten your throat!"
"Hmm."
Lin Xia carefully sat up, wrapping herself in the big red quilt, taking advantage of the situation to cover herself up.
Yet, she was unaware that this kind of hiding only made her appear even more charming.
Her hair was black and smooth, a bit messy from sleeping, cascading over her smooth, round shoulders, exuding a lazy feminine charm at this moment.
Lin Xia took the cup from Lu Zheng and sipped a few mouthfuls of the cool boiled water, immediately feeling much better.
Lu Zheng gazed at Lin Xia’s actions, his eyes brimming with affection.
Feeling the change in Lu Zheng’s gaze, Lin Xia pretended to be oblivious and handed the cup back to him, quickly lying down again.
Although moving her body like this was still somewhat uncomfortable, she was too embarrassed to say anything.
Lu Zheng took the cup from Lin Xia’s hand. He was incredibly thirsty and quickly took a few sips of water as well.
When he turned back around after putting the cup down, he saw Lin Xia with the big red wedding quilt pulled up to her small chin, revealing only her little head. Her long black hair was spread on the pillow, her eyes blinking -- a mesmerizing sight in his eyes.
Lu Zheng curved his lips into a smile and slipped into the quilt as well, wrapping his arm around the petite Lin Xia and pulling her into his embrace. He touched her smooth forehead tenderly and asked with concern, "Wife! Are you still feeling unwell?"
Lin Xia hesitated for a moment before shaking her head, "I feel much better now!"
Watching her changing expressions, Lu Zheng asked with a smile, "Wife! Are you hungry?"
"Hungry! Ah! We didn’t have dinner!" Had he not mentioned it, she really wouldn’t have remembered. Since they had lunch yesterday afternoon and came back, she had been brought back to the bedroom by him and had not had any dinner.
"I’m hungry too!"
If it weren’t for Lin Xia sleeping so soundly, fearing he might wake her up, he might have gotten up early to cook.
Lin Xia felt a sudden sense of relief and hurried to get up, "Then let’s get up and eat!"
The quilt was so warm in the winter, making it hard to leave, but she couldn’t bear to let Lu Zheng go hungry.
Lu Zheng directly stopped Lin Xia; he leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Wife, no rush!"
"How can there be no rush? Aren’t you hungry? I’m hungry too..."
Before Lin Xia could finish, her stomach growled, making her face turn bright red.
Lu Zheng patted her head indulgently, "Wife, it’s just a hungry stomach grumbling; there’s no need to be shy with your own man. Lie down for a while longer; I’ll go get something to eat."
Lin Xia’s awkwardness dissipated in an instant.
Her heart brimming with sweetness, she nodded in agreement, "Okay, then you go."
But Lu Zheng didn’t leave right away; instead, he started to tease Lin Xia.
Lin Xia was both annoyed and amused, urgency in her voice, "Lu Zheng, stop fooling around... My parents are still at the hotel!"
Today was their first day as newlyweds—how embarrassing would it be if they arrived late, not to mention rude? Others might guess what they had been up to.
"Okay, I’ll listen to my wife!"
By the time they’d had a simple meal and gotten ready to go downstairs, it was already nine o’clock.
On the way, Lin Xia didn’t stop scolding Lu Zheng for causing them to leave late with his mischief.
But Lu Zheng happily let her scold him, and when he saw that she was uncomfortable and walking slowly, he even carried her on his back.
Resting on Lu Zheng’s broad back, Lin Xia initially felt a bit embarrassed; after all, it wasn’t common for an adult to be carried, drawing many sidelong glances on the street.
But how easy was it for her to walk quickly?
So she buried her face in Lu Zheng’s body, thinking it would be fine as long as no acquaintances saw her.
"Wife! Don’t worry, we’ll definitely get there before nine-thirty!" Lu Zheng, carrying Lin Xia, strode on without any fear of the icy snow.
Lin Xia spoke with a threatening tone, "If we don’t, well, hmph... you’ll see!"
Lu Zheng chuckled, "Hold tight!" He reminded her and then started to pick up the pace.
"Ah! Slow down, slow down!" Afraid of falling off, Lin Xia instinctively clung tighter to Lu Zheng’s neck, all her previous irritation vanishing, leaving nothing but sweetness behind.
They hurried to the hotel, where the room held not only Lu Pengcheng and Shao Meirou but also Lu Qing, seated by the window.
Seeing Lin Xia’s embarrassed face and the smile on their son Lu Zheng’s, Shao Meirou and the others, who’d been through it all, had no doubt about what had taken place.
"Dad! Mom! We slept in!" Lin Xia greeted them with a flushed face and covertly glared at the culprit.
If it weren’t for her persistently urging him, he really might have dawdled even longer.
Shao Meirou took Lin Xia’s hand and sat on the bed, showing warm concern. Now that Lin Xia was her daughter-in-law, they were one family, and of course, she wanted to get along well.
Having a good relationship with her daughter-in-law would also benefit her son.
Lin Xia felt her face heat up, but as a person who wasn’t shy or speechless, she chatted casually to keep her composure.
Lu Zheng sat to the side, his eyes full of gentle warmth and pleasure. The good relationship between his mother and Lin Xia was certainly something he was happy to see.
A little while later, Lu Pengcheng called Lu Zheng out to tend to the car; they planned to take separate routes back to the provincial city the next day.
The car had failed to start halfway through the trip, so naturally, they needed to make thorough preparations for the return trip.
With Lu Pengcheng and his son gone from the room, only Shao Meirou, Lin Xia chatting by the bed, and Lu Qing remained.
However, Lu Qing was unusually quiet today.
Not only did Shao Meirou notice, but Lin Xia also picked up on it.
Lin Xia had a good impression of Lu Qing and got along well with her, so she asked with concern, "Lu Qing! What’s wrong with you? You look pale!"
Lu Qing slightly curved her lips into a smile, "It’s nothing! I just didn’t rest well last night. Go on and chat, I’ll go lie down in my room for a while!"
"Okay!" Lin Xia felt Lu Qing’s attitude toward her was a bit strange, but she couldn’t figure out what was bothering her.
