Chapter 113 - 112: You Hit Me?
Chapter 113: Chapter 112: You Hit Me?
Lin Aiguo had already heard their clapping and laughing from outside, and they were saying something about not letting him know. He was annoyed before, but now he was even angrier.
Chunli and her daughters were startled; no one had expected Lin Aiguo to suddenly appear.
Their faces all changed, and they were afraid, not knowing how much Lin Aiguo had overheard!
Lin Yu and Lin Qiang, afraid of giving away anything, bowed their heads pretending to eat, not daring to make eye contact with Lin Aiguo.
Chunli quickly got up and took the cotton coat Lin Aiguo had taken off, trying to change the subject, "We didn’t say anything! Aiguo! Why did you come back?"
She was nervously drumming up courage inside, not sure whether Lin Aiguo had overheard anything.
Lin Aiguo glared at her, annoyed, "What? You didn’t want me to come back?"
Was he now supposed to be controlled even when he came home? Was he invisible to them all?
Chunli was internally panicked but didn’t show a hint of it, hurriedly explaining, "No... Aiguo! Look! How can you say that? It’s so late, how could I expect you to come back! I’ll go warm up some wine for you!"
She thought of going to the kitchen to sort out her thoughts. She had planned to have someone send him a message tomorrow, but before she could act, he had come down on his own.
That meant she needed to change her plans, and she needed to think carefully about how to do that.
But Lin Aiguo didn’t give her the chance. He asked coldly, "No need! I’m asking you! What were you all discussing before I entered the room?"
His right eyelid had been twitching all day, making him feel uneasy; he had come down with the material transport truck.
Hearing their voices, he felt even more uneasy, sensing that something bad had happened.
"We didn’t say much! Just..." Chunli hesitated.
If Lin Aiguo had not heard their laughter, she could have just told the truth; but now, since Lin Aiguo had heard them laugh and didn’t know how much he knew,
if she said anything more, even an idiot could piece together what was going on from their reactions.
Lin Aiguo glared, "Why the hesitation! Spit it out quickly! Or don’t blame me if I lose my temper."
He instinctively felt there was an issue, and given how they were laughing, it might have something to do with Lin Xia’s kids.
Knowing Lin Aiguo’s temper, Chunli didn’t dare hide any more. If she continued to hide it, she feared Lin Aiguo might physically hurt her, "Aiguo, I just found out today, Lin Chun has followed some workers to take a job out of town!"
Lin Aiguo stood up abruptly, his eyes piercingly sharp as he stared at her, "What are you talking about? Lin Chun left?"
His stubborn eldest son had gone out of town? Lin Aiguo could hardly believe it, but he knew Chunli wouldn’t dare to lie to him about such things.
Immediately, his anger burst out fiercely.
Chunli held her breath, "Yes, I was about to ask Old Ding to notify you, but then you came back!" That was all she could say now.
Lin Aiguo glared at Chunli and burst out cursing, "They dare make such a big decision without my approval! Tell me, how did you find out?"
His first instinct was that Chunli must have known earlier and had deliberately not told him.
Chunli hung her head to hide the panic in her eyes, "I also left work early today because of a stomach ache, and when I came back, I happened to catch Lin Xia and Lin Dong sneaking out of the house. I tried to stop them but failed;
After that, I quietly followed them from behind and heard them talking on the road about Lin Chun having gone to work in another city!"
Lin Aiguo was so angry that he flipped the dining table over. Plates and bowls clattered to the ground, making a tremendous noise, scaring Lin Yu and Lin Qiang so much that they both hid to one side.
They knew that Lin Aiguo would be furious when he found out, but they hadn’t expected him to explode with such rage.
Lin Aiguo, gasping for air, pointed at Chunli’s nose and scolded, "Are you telling me you knew nothing about these things? And before I came in just now, were you laughing, thinking about some dark plot behind my back?"
Chunli hastily defended herself, "Aiguo, I really did not mean to conceal anything from you. I came home early today and was trying to ask Old Ding from the material transport truck to pass a message to you, but it turned out you came back today."
Lin Aiguo was so angry he felt he could kill someone on the spot, but Lin Chun had already left.
He wheezed and gritted his teeth as he asked, "Everything needed for the registration requires a household register, is our household register still here?"
"I’ll go check!" Chunli trembled as she went to open the drawer under the kang bed, still explaining incessantly, "I haven’t used it recently, so I really didn’t notice!"
But she didn’t realize that the more she acted like this, the more suspicious she seemed.
Lin Aiguo’s face was dark as the bottom of a pot. He clenched his fists as he looked at this woman he had married later in life. They had been together for a few years, so it wasn’t that there were no feelings between them. The two had even started their affair before Wanhua passed away.
Now, she had started to play tricks on him.
Perhaps, she had been deceiving him before, but he just hadn’t noticed?
Lin Aiguo took the household register Chunli handed him, opened it forcefully to Lin Chun’s page, looked it over, and, engulfed in furious hatred, threw the register to the ground and fiercely slapped Chunli across the face!
Chunli staggered back, steadying herself as she covered her face and looked at Lin Aiguo with a hurt expression, "You hit me?"
"And what if I did? Chunli, you play this game with me, taking out the household register and bringing it back without knowing anything? Who do you think you’re fooling?"
"You dare hit my mom!" Lin Qiang was so angry his eyes turned red, and he was about to rush forward when Lin Yu grabbed his sleeve. Now was not the time to act on impulse.
Chunli gave Lin Qiang a secretive glance. Covering her face, she sobbed and said, "Aiguo! Listen to me explain! I really didn’t know! If I had known, I would have told you..."
Now she couldn’t admit anything at all, nor could she let her son act impulsively. Otherwise, before they even settled scores with those kids, all the anger would fall on them first.
"How could you possibly not know anything? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?" Lin Aiguo pointed at Chunli and sneered, "Ah! Were you thinking about Lin Qiang taking over?
Do you think that with Lin Chun gone and Lin Qiang entering the lumber mill, my position would definitely go to him?
I’m telling you today, I’m not dead yet, and it’s far too early for you to dream about that!"
Chunli felt extremely uncomfortable hearing this, but she looked anxious and aggrieved as she argued, "Aiguo! What are you talking about! Lin Qiang is so young! How could I think so far ahead?
Besides, am I that oblivious despite my age? Even if we get along well, Lin Qiang isn’t your son, so how could he possibly take over?
You hit me, and I know you didn’t do it on purpose. You were just upset about Lin Chun leaving. But I go to work every day, how could I know about the household register?
If I hadn’t left work early today, I wouldn’t have run into Lin Xia and them at all! I wouldn’t have even known where they live!"
