Chapter 79: 79: Two Swordsmen

While walking behind the two youngsters, Ash stole a glance at the surroundings. Although the distance was quite far away from each other, Ash could feel the presence of other hunters.

Just like Appraisers, Hunters also had Grades to determine their capabilities and the price for their commission should anybody interested in hiring them.

Bronze Grade, Silver Grade, Gold Grade, Platinum Grade, Jade Grade, and lastly, Emerald Grade.

However, Emerald Grade Hunter was considered as a pinnacle in Mortal Cultivation since it would take hundreds of years for a mortal to achieve.

Being Golden Core Realm as the highest degree a human could ever achieve, only few mortals had ever stepped into Nascent Soul Realm and ascended to quasi-immortal cultivation.

In the meantime, Han Jia Ge and Han Wei were Silver Grade Hunters. Both of them were Early Qi Gathering Experts. If they could kill a Sky Rank Immortal Beast, they were eligible to receive the Gold Hunter Badge which was issued by the Mayor’s Office.

Suddenly, Shanguang chimed in, she sounded somewhat displeased by his sudden change of plan. "Master! You said we are going to hunt! Pray tell, why would we follow these youngsters instead?"

"We are hunting right now..."

"But, I don’t feel any beasts within one kilometer radius."

"Then, you must train your perception from now on." Ash remarked.

"Whatever you mean, Master?"

Ash smirked a tad. "They are in front of us."

Shanguang finally understood what he meant. She was genuinely astonished by his ability to hide his killing intent so perfectly. "Ah... I get it now. If you intend to do so, why don’t we just kill them while they were unaware of your killing intent?"

Ash replied patiently. "Xiao Shan, being a predator doesn’t necessarily mean that we should be always proactive and aggressive all the time. A true predator wasn’t always lurking in the shadows, but also blending in amongst the preys. Just chill, and wait for the perfect opportunity."

"So, what’s so special about them, Master?" Shanguang quipped again. "They are just skins and bones!"

Ash giggled at her remark. "That’s true. But, I’m not after their flesh and bones. They possess something that I truly need to elevate my cultivation and strength."

"What is it?"

"Sword Intent."

By the time Shanguang was about to ask him about the Sword Intent, numerous loud thuds were heard not far away from their location. Ash glanced at the two youngsters, they also heard the same sounds.

A moment later, a woman’s scream was heard from the same direction. They paused for a moment to make sure that those voices were not a bait that the beast usually does to lure men into their territory.

"What was that?" Han Wei unsheathed his Sentient Sword.

Han Jia Ge brandished his sword.

"Let’s check them! Xiao Hûo, follow us."

"Right behind you!"

Ash pretended to be a timid junior who knows nothing but to follow his seniors. Before long, they had arrived at the scene where dozens of Venomous Green Scorpions were preying on a young woman who was in her early twenties.

Their size wasn’t that impressive, just as big as a regular bear, they could be defeated by a Late Stage Body Transformation Realm Cultivator easily. However, these Venomous Green Scorpions have the ability to spurt venom from their tails. The greenish venom was also highly acidic and could melt even a Late Stage Sky Rank beast into just skin and bones from inside out.

This is the reality in Immortal Beast Realm. Though the strong and powerful ruled the realm, there was nothing such absolute domination. Even small creatures like them could kill an overlord under the right circumstances!

As Han Jia leaped high above a scorpion, Han Wei held its mandible at point blank range with his sword. Afterward, Han Jia Ge screamed the name of his signature move.

"Falling Clouds!"

With that single attack, Han Jia Ge managed to slash the scorpion’s tail effortlessly. On the other hand, Han Wei infused his Sentient Sword with Yang Qi, he burned the scorpion’s throat until all of its organs were toasted.

Ash, however, was cringed to the bone upon hearing it. He then quipped inwardly. ’Do you really need to scream that loud?!’

As one scorpion was defeated so easily, the other scorpions now shifted their focus onto Han Jia Ge and Han Wei.

"Hey!" Han Jia Ge shouted at Ash. "Why are you just standing there like an idiot?! Help the woman and find a cover!"

"Y-Yes! I’m sorry!"

Without further ado, Ash hoisted the terrified woman like carrying a sack of rice on his hip. He opted to climb onto the tree’s branches so he could study Han Sword Sect’s Martial Art.

"Are you okay?"

The young woman nodded eagerly, which evoked a dreaded look on Ash’ face.

"Who else is with you?!"

"My-my little sister, she was caught by the scorpion and dragged down into their lair." Replied the young woman.

"Fuck..." Ash cussed inwardly. "She must have died by now."

"Cici! No. Boohoo." The young woman cried on his shoulder. "It was my mistake! I shouldn’t have invited her to come with me!"

"Lamenting the dead is not going to change anything." Ash held her cute, innocent face with one hand. "Firstly, we need to get you out of here. Stay focus!"

"En..."

"Do you still remember the direction of their lair from here?"

"Northwest." She pointed out with a finger. "About fifty kilometers. You will find the Great Green Valley, it’s the natural habitat for these scorpions!"

"That should explain why these scorpions are in this part of the jungle where the humidity is very low in this season.’ Ash let out a disappointed sigh.

Ash was glad that she managed to run away from these scorpions yet also annoyed at the same time. However, it’s also good news that the scorpion lair was quite far away. Which means, these scorpions were just the grunts that were used by the Scorpion King to after its prey. She must have offended the scorpions in some ways and made them hunt the girls instead. However, there’s no time to think and solve trivial matters.

"For fuck’s sake. This is going to be very cumbersome."
