Chapter 39: 39: Recuperating

After the magnificent battle that caused the entire mountain to be engulfed in fire, Ash escaped from the mountain in his human form to minimize the risk of getting caught.

Granted, once he reached the valley, he immediately located Ye Yinghui’s whereabouts through their mental connection.

Before long, he rendezvoused with the two at the next mountain further south. Ash didn’t mind a slight detour as long as his beast companions were safe and sound.

Inside the cave, deep in the mountain’s valley, Ye Yinghui had prepared a temporary dwelling for him. He was so grateful to have such a king and understanding confidant such as Ye Yinghui.

"This way, My Lord." Ye Yinghui said, escorting him further into the inner chamber of the cave.

After which, Ash stepped onto the pedestal which was already etched with draconic runes. Ye Yinghui then explained about this rune for a little bit.

"These draconic runes were used by my kin to recuperate after a heavy loss of their Primordial Qi after a catastrophic fight. It’s quite ancient and robust compared to the latest Formation Array fashioned for Cultivator, but the basic principle is the same."

After studying the intricately drawn runes on the stone pedestal, Ash understood the mechanisms in a fraction of second.

"Alright, I got it."

Ye Yinghui was bewildered. It was his first time to study the runes, yet he already understood the principles and the laws within every runes.

"You did, My Lord?"

"En. It’s not that hard. In fact, these draconic runes are easier to learn since every symbol was straightforward. I wish I could learn more about your culture and civilization once I’m available."

"By all means, please ask anyway. I will do my best to satiate your curiosity."

"En. I will begin my meditation immediately." Ash sat on a cross-legged lotus position.

"Do you need anything else, My Lord?"

"Not in particular. However, I would like you two to remain inside my Beast-Taming Space until I finished."

"Understood, My Lord." Ye Yinghui nodded obediently.

Shanguang, however, disagreed with him. Ash couldn’t help but to comply with her childish behaviour which was pretty much understandable given the fact that Shanguang had entered her rebellious phase. Luckily, Shanguang was only demanding more and more attention from him.

The young Ligress soon laid herself down in front of him. She matched her purring sound with Ash’s breath. Little did he know, Shanguang was also diligently meditating in her own style and attitude.

Between his daily break time, Ash consumed an immortal herb called [Everlasting Snow Jasmine]. An epic Rank Immortal Herb which could only be obtained deep in the mountain during the darkest hour of the winter.

Since the herb was already enriched with Yue Yin’s Pure Yin Qi Energy, Ash could only consume one petal per day.

"What is this feeling?" Ash felt a familiar presence upon consuming a petal. He immediately returned to his Sea of Consciousness. There, he saw the beautiful Abysmal Wolf, waiting patiently for him.

"Yue Yin?! How could you be here? Inside my Sea of Consciousness of all places?"

Yue Yin giggled a little bit. "I am but a mirage of my real self, My Lord. A manifestation created by our bond."

"Hmm..." Ash pondered a little bit. "Seems like my yearning for you had summoned the altercation of your mirage in my mind. Nevertheless, I’m glad that you are here, with me."

"Me, too, my lord. Even my real self is overjoyed to see you in her dream."

Afterward, Yue Yin noticed his legs which had been burnt. "Pray tell, my lord, who did that to your legs?!"

"Ah, you mean these burn wounds? I did it to myself. In order to escape from Eternal Ice Prison, I had to use my Primordial Qi beyond my body tolerance. It doesn’t feel that bad. However, the meridians in my feet are now in shambles."

"You don’t feel the pain?"

"Erm, no. Just a little bit of a tingling sensation here and there."

Yue Yin brought her eyes closer to examine the wound.

"This is bad. If you don’t feel the pain, it means that your meridians are completely blocked! And you won’t be able to use your legs, eventually! It only matters of time before they are completely paralyzed!"

"Plausible, but not entirely true. As long as I am able to regenerate new meridians in my legs, I can even temper my flesh and bones structure and they will become even harder than any steel!"

"And how exactly, you would re-temper your flesh and bones structure when your meridian is blocked?!"

"I’m just going to completely destroy my legs!"

"That is madness! You could die the moment it backlashes toward your heart!"

"Nah, I will be okay. Trust me."

Afterward, Ash opted to combust his legs with his remaining Primordial Qi completely. Thanks to the blocked meridian which numbed his senses, the pain was somewhat bearable.

The reason being why Ash would do such a reckless to this extent was because he believed in his innate regeneration ability. If a Cultivator was dumb enough to try this method, they would be perished, swallowed by the Primordial Qi itself!

"Almost there!" Ash kept the combustion very strong until his flesh and bones reached critical point. "Okay, now!"

Ash ate another petal of [Everlasting Snow Jasmine] as to absorb its Pure Yin Qi. Once the Pure Yin Qi flowed through his body, Ash directed the surge of Pure Yin Qi into his legs, quenching the red hot flesh and bones. The once yellowish leg was now turned into a pair of jet-black legs that were stronger than steel!

"Hehe..." Ash rejoiced for his success. "Hahaha! I made it! This is a major breakthrough for my Cultivation Path! Eh, what should I call this newfound discovery?!"

Ash pondered for a while. By then, a bright inspiration flashed in his mind. "From now on, I will call this newfound physique with ’Black Diamond Body Constitution!’ Hah! Forget about Silver or Gold body constitution! Those kind of body cultivation paths are only for mediocre!"
