Heavenly Imperial Palace, a place where all kinds of Gods dwell and indulge themselves, governing universes, creating one, or even annihilating an entire civilization because they feel like it.

On one particular day, the Will of the Universe, a Primordial Essence that gave birth to all kinds of beings in the universes, was trembling in excitement.

The reason being was, it finally found the Heavenly Phoenix after eons of waiting!

The Gods noticed the subtle change and went there to check what was going on with the oldest essence known to the universe. Even the God Emperor himself couldn’t possibly comprehend it fully.

"Your Majesty, what should we do with this insolent beast?" Asked one of the Gods there, floating amidst the vast expanse of the void.

"Summon the Heavenly Tribulation. That bird shall not be allowed to transcend to the next realm," the God Emperor, Wang Tianzun replied, his gaze cold yet vicious at the same time.

"As you wish, Your Majesty."

After a moment, the Heavenly God of Thunder, Lei Gong, summoned a Lightning Spear in his hand, and hurled it towards the Immortal Beast Realm. It travels thousands times faster than the speed of light, tearing the very fabric of reality, distorting the boundaries between space and time.

A mere second later, multiple mortal worlds were destroyed when the Lightning Lance passed through their stars. The God Emperor showed no remorse in the slightest. For him, creating countless mortal worlds was akin to breathing.

Before long, the Lightning Lance pierced through the atmosphere and landed at where Ash and Yue Yin were having a breakthrough. The valley was shattered, the forest ablaze in a fiery inferno. Luckily, the Heavenly Horse King old monster was kind enough to protect both of them from the initial strike.

"Hmph! Your lightning is as lousy as thou hath ever been. Lei Gong!"

Not wanting the Divine Qi Vein ought to be destroyed by his own Heavenly Tribulation, Ash opted to face it himself.

"Wait! Thou are not ready yet, Xiao Hûo!"

"Let me be, Lord Ma Shen. I can take this. If I die from a mere Heavenly Tribulation, then it would mean that I’m not even worthy to be blessed by Lady Huxian’s kindness!"

Boom! Boom!

Two more lightning struck Ash’s body in mid air, his feather was shredded, and charred on the tip. However, they were not nearly enough to kill him, yet.

Afterward, the sky was rumbling three times, it resounded like somebody was hurling three supermassive boulders onto the earth. After a short pause, three Lightning Spears struck his body. Now, all of his feathers had burned into ashes, there’s nothing left to cover his pinkish skin.

Ash withstood the tribulation solemnly, no pain or anguish were shown on his fierceful gaze. He was still floating above the forest, as if the Immortal Beast Realm itself had supported him to break through Heaven’s confinement and defy the Law of Heaven and Earth. It dictates that all living beings shall not stand higher than heaven itself!

"Is that all you got?" Ash quipped inwardly, smirking at Heaven.

"You impertinent bird!"

Lei Gong launched four more Lightning Spears consecutively. Ash’ flesh had cracked, and the glistening white bones were exposed. Yue Yin, on the other hand, couldn’t bear to see him withstand the Heavenly Tribulation on his own.

When she was about to exit the chamber, Lord Ma Shen warned her sternly. "Don’t. It’s too late for you to save him now. All of his efforts to take the Heavenly Tribulation would be in vain if you step in."

"But, he’d died!"

"Have faith. Focus on your own breakthrough," Lord Ma Shen said.

Infuriated by his resilience, the God of Thunder hurled a total of 35 Lightning Spears toward him. The sky was torn apart, and a massive hole was formed in the sky. If a normal Immortal Beast were to take the Heavenly Tribulation like Ash did, they would definitely die at the first strike.

This was because of Ash’s will and determination to survive. Even if his body was torn apart, as long as his mind remained intact, there’s nothing that could stop him.

After a while, Lei Gong stopped hurling his Lightning Spear. Never in one billion years would he witness an Immortal Beast who could survive after receiving the full extent of his Heavenly Tribulation.

"Fine! Let’s see if you can still take this one!"

Lei Gong opted to concentrate his power into one massive Lightning Spear. However, the God Emperor Wang Tianzun changed his mind.

"That’s enough, Lei Gong." Wang Tianzun held Lei Gong’s shoulder.

"But, Your Majesty..."

Wang Tianzun just simply closed his eyes and shook his head. "If he truly wished to rise in power, so be it. He may try, but his journey would not be an easy one."

Lei Gong ceased his onslaught toward the Heavenly Phoenix. He cupped his fist, bowing courteously and then returned to his domain at once.

Wang Tianzun looking down at the Immortal Beast Realm, smiling impishly. "Hmph, interesting. Let us see what Fate has for us. Here, enjoy it while it lasts."

Afterward, the God Emperor breathed out a tiny fraction of his boundless power onto his hand, and sent it toward Immortal Beast Realm to heal the obliterated landscape.

What came next after that brutal Heavenly Tribulation was a bright pillar of light that descended from Heaven. It lifted Ash into the sky, healing him as well as the surrounding valley.

The Immortal Beasts who happened to be in the region witnessed this miracle with awe and admiration.

Not only one, but two Sky Rank Immortal Beasts had emerged! Without a doubt, they were the current strongest beings in the entire Southern Region of the Immortal Beast Realm.

Yue Ying, who also had reached Sky Rank, flew to the sky to assist the Heavenly Phoenix before he fell onto the earth.

"My lord!"

"Ah, Yue Yin. You managed to break through and reached Sky Rank as well? I’m glad," says the Heavenly Phoenix with a faint voice.

"Reckless! How can you be so stubborn! You could’ve died!"

Ash chuckled hearing her remark. "Let’s get back to the chamber, first. I still need to stabilize my Qi before it rupture my Beast Core.
