Chapter 98: Chapter 18 Dan Demon Realm

The day after the Silver Scorpion Mercenary Group attacked, Old Teluo commanded his men to burn down the reeds by the lakeside that blocked their view.

Under the fierce flames, the reeds were destroyed, and the view across the lake became much clearer, preventing further ambushes. However, it also allowed the mercenaries to clearly see the nearby Dan Demon Tomb.

The thick smoke drifted close to the blood mist and seemed to meet resistance, unable to advance any further.

The protective array on the Fire Dragon Sail was repaired, and the black-clad person who suddenly appeared did not show up again.

From a few captives of the Blue Crystal Mercenary Group, Yue Jinghua and others learned that the Silver Scorpion Mercenary Group and the Blue Crystal Mercenary Group still had elite units ready to ambush Ni Qianjun at the opportune moment.

Upon hearing this news, Feng Buhui couldn’t stay put. He wanted to leave the ship to search for Ni Qianjun and the others, but Old Teluo wouldn’t allow it. He also remembered what Ni Qianjun had said before leaving: if they hadn’t returned in three days, they should immediately set sail and leave.

Time, like the waters of the lake, seemed calm yet still flowed away. On the last night before the Fire Dragon Sail was to set off to return, there was still no word from Ni Qianjun and the others.

Another cold and serene night passed, a silhouette crossed the deck, and a skin raft was quickly lowered into the water.

Feng Buhui jumped onto the skin raft, causing a ripple on the water. On the other side of the raft, it gently rocked, and at the other end of the ship, a figure stood adrift.

Upon seeing the attire of the arrival, Feng Buhui stuttered, "Master Yueyue, how come...?"

"You really have a lot of nerve, coming a full day and night later than I expected." She was dressed in white armor, carrying that strange broken sword on her back and a black Dark Beast, the Flash Mink Leopard, which had appeared that night. It seemed she was planning to leave the Fire Dragon Sail and enter the Dan Demon Tomb.

"Master Yue, you can’t come with me into the Dan Demon Tomb. I promised the deputy leader to ensure your safety," Feng Buhui knew it was impossible to persuade Old Teluo, but he couldn’t just watch his brothers perish in the Dan Demon Tomb.

Although Yue Jinghua had won against him that day, it was true she lacked Dark Power.

The Dan Demon Tomb could potentially contain various types of poisonous gases, and without Dark Energy protection, the consequences were unpredictable.

"You’ve already run off, so stop talking about taking care of me. Ni Qianjun once said that the blood mist in the Dan Demon Tomb significantly reduces the cultivation of Dark Practitioners. Once inside, everyone is more or less the same; relying on basic martial techniques, Dark Power becomes irrelevant," Yue Jinghua said nonchalantly.

Feng Buhui glanced at the Dan Demon Tomb, then at Yue Jinghua’s carefree attitude that seemed unbothered by boiling water, much like a shrew or a stubborn child–both notoriously unreasonable. He figured further discussion was pointless.

He raised his crossbow and shot at the water surface; the arrow, carrying Dark Power, made the skin raft move across the mirror-like lake surface like a flat leaf caught in the wind, creating a channel of water.

The skin raft moved quickly and soon reached the shores of the Dan Demon Tomb.

The grass burnt by the great fire was a black haze; both individuals disembarked the skin raft.

As they approached the blood mist, they inhaled a scent of blood akin to the stench of years of rot, instantly causing a dizzy sensation. The air in their nostrils became moist and sticky, making their breathing somewhat difficult.

Feng Buhui hastily circulated his Dark Energy; indeed, once inside the blood mist, his cultivation was suppressed. Only a faint layer of Dark Energy could barely manifest on his skin. Thinking of Yue Jinghua following behind him, he turned back; amidst the night, a layer of milky white starlight glowed on Yue Jinghua’s skin, making her appear ethereal and even more beautiful. The hideous Demon Mark on her face also seemed less fearsome, and it was hard to look away from her.

The starlight repelled the blood mist wherever it went.

"Let’s move forward, and remember, do not stray more than three meters from me," Feng Buhui thought to himself, no wonder the deputy leader looked at her differently and dared not underestimate her anymore. He positioned the bow across his chest, protecting Yue Jinghua behind him like a mother hen.

The perennially sunless blood mist, like a ravenous beast opening its maw, devoured everything that entered.

After the two figures vanished into the blood mist, the mist itself seemed to emit a swallowing sound like the throat of a wild beast.

Upon entering the blood mist, Feng Buhui and Yue Jinghua couldn’t help but exclaim softly.

They had both thought that a perilous place like the Dan Demon Tomb would surely be covered with corpses and filled with pools of blood.
