Chapter 95: Chapter 16 Night Raid_2
The Dan Demon Tomb is a plain filled with shallow depressions and constantly shrouded in a blood mist. Any Dark Practitioner who enters the Dan Demon Tomb will see their Cultivation significantly diminished.
Therefore, Ni Qianjun, when calling names one by one and selecting those who would accompany him, chose the veteran mercenaries with superb cultivation.
Feng Buhui stood in the line and seeing that Ni Qianjun did not choose him, he stepped forward.
"Vice captain, I volunteer to follow you into the Dan Demon Tomb," Feng Buhui said, already equipped with the modified Zhuge Crossbow. Just by appearance, it was not much different from the earlier fine iron crossbow, and even his mercenaries brothers, who shared life and death with him, were unaware that Feng Buhui now had an additional deadly weapon in his hand.
"Feng Buhui, you stay behind, I have a more important task for you." Considering the many dangers inside the Dan Demon Tomb, Ni Qianjun had no intention of letting Yue Jinghua follow, "Keep her safe," Ni Qianjun said simply. He heavily patted Feng Buhui on the shoulder and handed him a box from his bosom.
It was a unique understanding among men.
Several days earlier, Yue Jinghua had already handed the Durian Pill to him. Feng Buhui also showed him the new crossbow named Zhuge Crossbow.
While surprised, Ni Qianjun also realized that Yue Jinghua was a gem, and if other Mercenary Groups discovered her talents, it could be dangerous.
For the sake of Yue Jinghua’s safety, he only had Yue Jinghua make minor adjustments to the weapons of the mercenaries, and he asked Feng Buhui to strictly keep this secret, even in front of Old Teluo.
People talk too much, and though Feng Buhui could resist the allure of Lihua Xue, it didn’t mean that others could as well.
Feng Buhui understood what Ni Qianjun meant, he nodded his head, and silently turned back to his cabin.
Lihua Xue watched by the side, her pretty face frosted over, her eyes suspiciously glanced towards the direction of the blood mist below the ship.
With a dull thud, the Fire Dragon Sail touched down on a lake at the periphery of the Dan Demon Tomb. Mooring on the water surface could, to some extent, defend against attacks from the ground.
After resting for one night, at dawn, dozens of agile figures leaped from the ship and quickly entered the blood mist.
As the sun rose and set, the Fire Dragon Sail was silent; the mercenaries didn’t show any panic at the main force’s departure. Patrolling and guarding were conducted orderly under Old Teluo’s command.
At midnight, when everyone on the ship was in deep sleep, a slender figure swiftly slipped into the patrol cabin.
"Who?" the patrolling soldier of the Reversed Fire Mercenary Group was alert, and suddenly, the cabin lit up, Lihua Xue stood inside, "Miss Hua Xue? You..."
Before the word "you" was finished, the young mercenary’s eyes suddenly widened, his head smashed outward, crashing inside the cabin, splashing blood all over the floor.
Lihua Xue walked before the guarding Dark Array, spotted two positions, and cast out several Ice Needles. The Mystic Arrows in the protective Dark Array cracked in response.
The protective shield around the Fire Dragon Sail gradually weakened, the red color slowly faded.
Just as the protective shield broke, dozens of willow bark rafts, small enough for one person to stand, burst out from the tall reeds on the shore, and dozens of people in black clothes with scorpion-tail braids, taking advantage of the moonlight, approached the Fire Dragon Sail.
The leader, clad in a one-piece Black Leather Armor, with a bald head swishing a thick black scorpion tail braid, his eyes full of depravity, opened wide his mouth, shouting, "Fire Dragon Sail. Reversed Fire Mercenary Group, today I’ll smash up your den, see if you dare compete with us, Silver Scorpion, for jobs."
"Brothers, charge," the man in black armor jumped onto the ship’s side, followed by dozens of mercenaries from the Silver Scorpion Mercenary Group also leaping onto the Fire Dragon Sail.
Tonight, the Fire Dragon Sail, in their eyes, could be easily manipulated and subdued. Capturing it was just a matter of time.
His steps had not yet settled when a cold light like a moon halo struck him head-on.
By his ears, the sound of leather armor tearing, and the agonizing screams of his brothers.
Before he could discern what that moon halo light was, a tremendous force of Mystic Arrows was already before his eyes.
The man in black armor broke out in a cold sweat; his legs kicked against the ship’s side, hanging upside down like a chrysalis.
A chill on his scalp, the Black Scorpion Braids atop the man in black armor had been cleanly sliced off.
"Is it an arrow rain? Since when did the Reversed Fire Mercenary Group possess a crossbow team? Lihua Xue, that sly fox, didn’t mention this in her letter," the man in the black armor was an experienced old mercenary, now he held a snake spear in his hand, spun a beautiful spear flower, and with several clings, dodged the crossbow arrows.
After one round of crossbow arrows, a second volley would take at least half a stick of tea to prepare.
Little did he know, he was wrong again, as the second wave of moon halo-shaped crossbow arrows attacked once more.
From left to right, rows of crossbow arrows shot forth simultaneously.
"Damn it, the Reversed Fire Mercenary Group plays dirty," the veteran of the Silver Scorpion Mercenary Group couldn’t curse in time as an arrow had already pierced his leg.
Severe pain struck, and when they chopped off the crossbow arrows, attempting to pull out the arrowheads, the tendons were torn, the hook-like barbed crossbow arrows took a chunk of flesh out. As soon as the wound touched the blood, it immediately turned purplish. The barbs were also smeared with poison.
Amongst mercenary groups of the Eastern Continent, the Reversed Fire Mercenary Group has always been known for their fair and open operations, who would have thought they would play dirty with arrows as well. Arrowheads with barbs, even poisoned, truly more venomous than their Poison Scorpions.
Countless crossbow arrows came from all directions, bodies of the mercenaries from the Silver Scorpion Mercenary Group fell like locusts hit by fire, dropping from the ship.
Outside the cabin, Feng Buhui was commanding seven or eight crossbow archers, launching an encirclement-like siege.
Inside the cabin, Lihua Xue led several members of the Blue Crystal Mercenary Group, concealed in the darkness, with a solemn expression.
"Useless Silver Scorpion Mercenary Group, fortunately, I still have a backup plan," watching the people from Silver Scorpion retreating steadily, Lihua Xue scoffed, her eyes quickly glanced towards the direction of Yue Jinghua’s alchemy room, "You two, go in and capture that little wench for me, be careful, that wench is very cunning."
After saying that, Lihua Xue leaped out, taking out a blue crystal-like spherical object from her hand. She started chanting the Dark Technique, and her body slowly lifted off, her hair flying beside her like ink snakes, numerous light blue rays burst forth from the sphere in her hand.
Wherever the water light passed, those mercenaries from the Silver Scorpion Mercenary Group who had already been routed, were as if injected with a new life; bleeding stopped, pain disappeared, and their depleted Dark Power was replenished in their Dantian.
"Kill," the man from Silver Scorpion Mercenary Group, covered in fresh blood, charged madly towards Feng Buhui and the others.
