Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess -
Chapter 204
Chapter 204: 204
The convoy sat quiet under the fractured overpass, the faint orange glow from the sinking sun filtering through twisted steel beams and cracked concrete. Dust motes drifted lazily in the cooling air, settling on the worn seats of the bus and on the scattered debris around them. Outside, the world seemed to hold its breath, waiting.
Haoyu stepped carefully out of the bus, clipboard tucked under his arm, scanning the horizon. The hills ahead were silent, but he knew better than to trust silence in a place like this. His boots crunched on broken glass and cracked asphalt as he moved toward the edge of the shelter.
Sun Zi Mo followed, his tall frame a dark silhouette against the dying light. The driver’s eyes flicked constantly, taking in the terrain, his fingers never far from the grip of the shotgun resting on the dashboard.
Behind them, the survivors watched anxiously through grimy windows, some pressing their hands flat against the glass. Luo Roulan stood by the door, her brother finally stirring, blinking up at her with heavy eyes. She placed a comforting hand on his head, though her own fingers trembled.
Haoyu exhaled slowly, tightening the strap on his satchel. He could feel the weight of every eye on him, every breath held in expectation.
"We’ll send a scout first," Haoyu said quietly. "Light-footed, quick. Check the road ahead, make sure it’s clear."
Sun Zi Mo nodded. "I’ll go."
Before Haoyu could protest, the driver was already pulling on a worn jacket and slipping into his boots. The shotgun hung from a sling on his back, the worn wood polished by years of use.
"Take the comm," Haoyu said, handing him a small radio clipped to his belt. "Check in every fifteen minutes. If anything moves, we pull back."
Sun Zi Mo gave a curt nod and slipped into the shadows beneath the bridge. Haoyu watched him fade into the underbrush before turning back toward the bus.
The survivors stirred at the movement. Zhao Lan spat out a curse, his eyes sharp beneath a weathered brow. "Better not be another damn trap," he muttered.
Haoyu met his gaze steadily. "We don’t get to choose our path, only how we walk it."
Zhao grunted and turned away.
Inside the bus, Luo Roulan knelt beside her brother, her voice low and steady. "Stay close to me. No matter what."
Her eyes flicked to the window, where the twisted sign still hung "THERE’S NOTHING HUMAN HERE." The words burned black across the faded paint, a stark reminder of the wasteland they had crossed and the dangers still waiting.
The first night in Zone Four was always the hardest, Haoyu knew. The air tasted different here, thinner, harsher. The shadows moved with unnatural weight, and the silence was punctuated only by the distant cries of something lost.
Haoyu ran a hand through his hair and settled back into the seat beside Feng Yizhou. The man’s eyes were fixed on the cracked dashboard, face pale but unyielding.
"Any sign of movement?" Yizhou asked quietly.
Haoyu shook his head. "Not yet. But the moment it changes, we move."
Outside, the fading light painted the edges of the broken overpass in fiery reds and dark purples. The wind whispered through the twisted metal, carrying a faint scent of smoke and old blood.
Suddenly, the radio crackled sharply.
Sun Zi Mo’s voice cut through the silence, tense but controlled. "All clear ahead. No movement detected for the last twenty minutes. Proceeding cautiously."
Relief swept through the bus like a warm wave. People shifted in their seats, exhaling breaths they hadn’t realized they’d been holding.
Haoyu stood, raising his voice just enough to be heard. "Alright. We move in five. Keep your gear close. No sudden movements."
The bus engines rumbled to life again, metal groaning under the strain as they pulled back onto the cracked highway.
The road stretched ahead, barren and empty, swallowed by the dusky twilight. Haoyu felt the weight of every set of eyes watching him, the fragile hope resting on each careful mile.
Feng Yizhou’s voice broke the quiet. "We can’t afford mistakes here. This zone... it’s not like the others. It’s hostile."
As Sun Zi Mo got on the bus, they finally rode into the 4th zone.
"Stop right there! Who are you and state where you’re coming from."
Haoyu stood up wanting to address them but Feng Yizhou stood up.
"Who thought you’d be this happy the die. Stay where you are and leave this to me."
"..."
Feng Yizhou got up and walked to the gate.
"My name is Feng Yizhou and we’re coming from the fifth zone."
"..."
Did he just say his name was Feng Yizhou?!
"Are you the Feng Yizhou?
".."
"Well I don’t see anyone around here with this type of face. Are you going to open the damn gates or do I have to force my way in?"
".."
The guards nodded, he was the real deal.
"Go alert the queen, master Feng is here."
"..."
Master Feng??
The gates cranked open as the bus rode to where he was.
He got it and they drove into the zone.
If was much more organized than he had thought, but he had a feeling that there was a lot of power play going on here.
They were asked to park the bus at the corner, there were five men already waiting when Feng Yizhou got down.
"Master Feng, her majesty would like to see you."
"..."
"You’ll be staying in her quarters. As for the rest of crew, they’ll be distributed evenly."
Feng Yizhou didn’t say anything for a while. "These two stay with me and I want to know where the rest get distributed to"
The man that spoke nodded and lead them inside the building.
"So this Queen of yours, she got a name?"
"She’s called Queen Wenxiu.." the man replied quietly, glancing sideways as they walked down the narrow corridor lined with polished stone and faded banners.
"Her family has ties with yours, one of the richest families we knew before all this. We all thought she was spoiled and a bit dumb back then. No one ever expected she’d be smart enough to organize a group like this."
Feng Yizhou’s mind raced. Of course he knew her , the pampered princess of the Wen family, his own had dealt with many times. But he never thought she had it in her to lead something this disciplined.
They had built up walls to keep the zombies and other ferocious beasts out, they was impressive.
When they got to the doors, the men straighten up and turned to Haoyu and Sun Zi Mo.
"The Queen only wants to see master Feng, we will escort you both to your rooms."
Haoyu glanced at Feng Yizhou who nodded, they couldn’t do anything to them while he was here.
As they left, Feng Yizhou nodded on the door, and enter.
The room looked like a typical master bedroom, but there was no sign of Wen Wenxiu.
"Brother Feng, you’re really here."
Feng Yizhou eyes darkened when the a tingling sensation hit him, the room had began to fill up with aphrodisiac.
She stood right in front of him, stark naked like she had been waiting for this very moment.
"Brother Feng do you know I have a system as well? One that lets me control any man I desire. I was so happy when I heard you were hear. To build this place I’ve had to give myself to the system many times but now the man of my dreams is finally here."
["..."]
[You always seems to attract the crazies, don’t ya? Haha]
"Wenxiu, you crazy bitch. You still haven’t changed"
Feng Yizhou wanted to move but he feels were completely glued to the ground and his body felt unbearably hot.
"Don’t worry brother Feng." She said pressing herself against his body. "I’ll make you feel good."
[Huuuuu. Seems like she’s going to hit it.]
"..."
"Shut up. Ain’t no way I’m letting he have her way."
["..."]
Just when Wenxiu reached for his pants, her body froze as well, she looked up to see Feng Yizhou smiling as well.
"Unfortunately, I’ve kept this body for my beloved. I don’t want you to have taste."
"Caocao active Brainwashing "
["..." Hehe]
[Brainwashing has been activated. Do state your orders.]
"Wen Wenxiu, you’ll no longer crave my body or use your abilities against me. But you can still remain fiercely loyal to me"
