Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Flattering the Wrong Person?
Bella Green waited for Mason Bennett’s response, her gaze unblinking. Even she didn’t know what kind of answer she was expecting.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, Mason Bennett’s expression darkened once more, with an oppressive feeling as if a storm were about to arrive, more intense than before.
The man merely turned his head slightly to look at Jeremiah Bennett beside him.
Clearly, Mason Bennett did not show anger, but even so, the sharp aura emitting from the man was enough to make Jeremiah Bennett’s legs tremble.
"C-cousin, no, I didn’t bully him. He’s talking nonsense. It was clearly him who hit me, everyone saw it."
Jeremiah Bennett explained anxiously, not understanding why Mason was glaring at him so fearsomely instead of punishing Bella Green.
"Yes, Mr. Bennett, it was indeed him who hit Young Master Jiang just now," Maria Sinclair chimed in to support him.
She didn’t think Mason Bennett would side with Bella Green. After all, Jeremiah Bennett was his cousin, and Bella Green did indeed hit someone. Both emotionally and logically, he shouldn’t be helping an outsider.
Sophia Latham was somewhat anxious on the side; this pretty young ’boy’ only wandered into the wrong place and hadn’t actually said much. It was constantly Jeremiah Bennett who was being aggressive.
"Mr. Bennett..." She spoke urgently, wanting to say something.
"Enough." Mason Bennett barked lowly, making the reception room quiet once more, with no one daring to utter a sound.
"Elliot Morris, what did I tell you before?"
Hearing his name, Elliot Morris almost burst into tears, looking innocent: "I, I followed what you said, I did inform them beforehand."
These two fools. He had instructed them to take good care, so how did it turn into such a mess in just a short while?
"What’s wrong with you two? Didn’t I say that Mr. Bennett’s brother would come by and that you should take good care of him?" Elliot Morris looked at the two troublesome secretaries with a sharp tone.
The two beautiful secretaries were dumbfounded upon hearing this. They had indeed taken good care, offering coffee and snacks when needed.
Looking at their bewildered expressions, Elliot Morris paused before realizing something.
This Jeremiah Bennett was also Mr. Bennett’s brother...
He held his head in despair, feeling as if his life was over.
He had actually forgotten to mention this brother’s surname is Ye; he’s called Si Bai...
But he hadn’t expected this prodigal to suddenly show up here and cause such a scene.
The two secretaries weren’t foolish; seeing Elliot Morris’s expression, they understood what had happened.
They had, presumably, misconstrued the situation...
"Assistant Morris, the brother of Mr. Bennett you mentioned, wasn’t he..." Maria Sinclair’s face went pale and she asked, somewhat apprehensive, pointing in Jeremiah Bennett’s direction.
At this moment, Jeremiah Bennett also panicked. What does this mean? Could it be that this kid knows his cousin?
"I said brother, not cousin," Elliot Morris emphasized earnestly, shamelessly excusing himself.
Having said this much, there was little else to misunderstand.
Maria Sinclair looked at Bella Green, thinking about what she had just said, almost unable to stand still. Had she... sided with the wrong person?
Her expression didn’t escape Elliot Morris’s notice, and he pretty much pieced together the situation.
Jeremiah Bennett was in no better shape, looking at Mason Bennett’s expressionless face, feeling nervous yet still clinging to hope.
No matter if he’s a brother, he was still a cousin. Whatever the case, he still had a closer bond. He then tried to play it cool.
"Brother, it was all a misunderstanding. I didn’t know he was your brother. Since he’s your brother, then he’s my brother too. Getting hit a couple of times is no big deal, hahaha."
Bella Green had a look on her face as if he had eaten something foul. Who the hell is your brother!
