Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Why Not Die Outside

Bella Green raised the corners of her mouth, a cold and icy smile, but her eyes were filled with flames that could consume everyone in front of her.

She fiercely grabbed the boy’s collar, speaking word by word, each syllable carrying the chill of a winter storm.

"What am I? Let me show you what I am."

With that, she forcefully pulled Daniel Green by his collar and walked towards the living room.

The boy was a head taller than her, but now he was hunched over, stumbling as he was dragged.

Before anyone could react, Bella had already pushed him in front of the full-length mirror in the living room, his body almost pressed against the glass.

Realizing belatedly that he was being treated this way by a girl, shame, fury, and anger surged to his head, his face flushing bright red, ready to explode.

The next second, her pretty and delicate face leaned in closer, and then pain shot through his chin.

Bella Green had a firm grip on his chin, forcing him to look at the mirror, their faces so intimately close together.

In the mirror, a tall and a small face, one handsome, one delicate and pretty, yet so similar.

"See it clearly? Even if you hate me, you cannot change the fact that the same blood runs through us."

The girl’s voice was icy to the extreme, devoid of any warmth, terrifyingly cold.

"It’s not her fault that I got lost, nor is it mine. I don’t need your compensation, and don’t try to use this so-called wealth and prosperity to buy my gratitude. You owe me nothing, and likewise, I owe you nothing."

Bella Green’s voice was not loud, yet it echoed clearly in Daniel’s ears.

He looked into those indifferent almond eyes, and his heart inexplicably tightened.

The next moment, his chin was released, and the girl had stepped away from him, yet the faint scent still lingered in his nose, making him feel somewhat familiar.

While he was momentarily dazed, a loud slap snapped him back to reality.

Bella Green felt her cheek burning painfully, her ears buzzing.

She looked at the furious woman in front of her, who seemed ready to tear her apart, without saying a word, and her face remained expressionless.

"Bella Green, I knew bringing you back would only bring disaster, shame, and unrest to our family. Now you even dare to hit my son. Why didn’t you just die outside?"

Francesca Willis, overwhelmed with anger, spoke incoherently, not realizing how hurtful her words were.

Daniel Green was shocked, looking incredulously at his own mother.

"Why didn’t you just die outside?"

This sentence could no longer be summed up by the word ’vicious.’

He looked at the girl standing in the center of the living room, her lonely figure so thin and weak, her delicate cheek swelling visibly and frighteningly.

He touched his own cheek; though Bella Green was angry and her slap was quick and sudden, he knew she had held back.

But just now, his mother’s slap was delivered with full force.

Anna Green watched Bella Green, a smile unconsciously creeping up on her lips; it was truly satisfying.

Samuel Gren was also shocked by these two slaps and hurried downstairs.

Looking at Bella Green, although he felt heartache, he was also angry that she had just hit Daniel Green, so he remained silent for a while.

After a long moment, Bella Green finally lifted her head, looking at her so-called dear family in the room, and suddenly laughed.

The corners of her mouth pulled at the wound, with fresh blood oozing from the corners, and the pain made her heart shatter inch by inch.
