Rebirth: The Comeback of the Girl -
Chapter 216 - 215: Accuse Him of Misconduct
Chapter 216: Chapter 215: Accuse Him of Misconduct
Plan B is no go, Zhen Yu still has Plan C. She and Mr. Zhen walked one after the other under the night sky, just like the first time Mr. Zhen took her to grandpa’s house.
Slowly, just as they were about to approach the Zhen Family’s courtyard, Zhen Yu suddenly turned a corner and headed towards the front yard.
"Hey! Xiao Yu, you’re heading to Uncle Han’s house, aren’t you?" Mr. Zhen could tell his daughter’s destination with just one glance.
Zhen Yu readily admitted, "Yes!"
"Who are you looking for so late at night? Whatever it is, can’t it wait until tomorrow?" Mr. Zhen thought he could leave once he had dropped off his daughter, but she had other plans.
Zhen Yu didn’t reply, just quickened her pace. Mr. Zhen had no choice but to follow closely behind.
Soon, they reached the door of the Han Family. The house was brightly lit, and Zhen Yu didn’t hesitate; she stepped forward and pulled the door open.
With one foot inside and one foot outside, she suddenly called out loudly, "Dad! Come in quick!"
Mr. Zhen initially didn’t want to enter the house. He thought his daughter was safe here and was planning to turn around and leave for his appointment.
But with Zhen Yu’s shout, he had no choice but to go inside.
"Oh! What brings you father and daughter here together?" Mr. Han was just sitting in the living room. Hearing them, he immediately got up and came to the door, asking Mr. Zhen, "Have you had dinner?"
"We have, we have!" Mr. Zhen nodded repeatedly, went inside, and closed the door behind him, saying, "Brother, Xiao Yu insisted on coming here, I’m not sure what urgent matter she has."
"Come sit down. Even if there’s an urgent matter, we can talk about it slowly!" Mr. Han led them to the sofas and they all sat down.
Without waiting for the adults to speak, Zhen Yu was the first to open her mouth. She exposed her father’s secret with one sentence, "Uncle Han! My dad has been gambling in mahjong! The stakes are over a thousand!"
Mr. Zhen was dumbfounded, "That’s not true!" He really didn’t expect his daughter to come here just to expose him! And it really wasn’t that high!!
Seeing Mr. Zhen’s expression, Mr. Han understood that it must be true. "Hailong! It’s okay to play a few games in winter when there’s nothing to do, but over a thousand is too much!"
"Big brother! It wasn’t that much! Just a few hundred!" Mr. Zhen confessed truthfully.
Mr. Han might not actually believe the ’stakes over a thousand’, but ’just a few hundred’ came from Mr. Zhen’s own mouth! A few hundred in the nineties was a worker’s monthly salary!
"A few hundred! A few hundred is still a lot!" Mr. Han said sternly, "Hailong, have you gotten carried away because you have some money? Can’t you spend your money on something better? Is the storefront bought already?"
Mr. Zhen felt a bit ashamed but still nodded, "It’s bought, we’ll move after the New Year. I just, ah! Got praised a bit and thought my skills were good, wanted to win a bit more!"
Mr. Han said discontentedly, "There’s no certainty in winning at mahjong! If there’s winning, there’s losing! So you think the money is just blown in by the wind, and if you lose it, you don’t care, right?!"
Before Mr. Zhen could defend himself, Zhen Yu quickly interjected, "My dad still has a game today! Uncle Han, please keep an eye on him! Don’t let him go!"
Mr. Zhen’s face darkened, Mr. Han glared at him, then turned kindly to Zhen Yu saying, "Jiaoyang is in Ming Yue’s room doing homework, you can go there too! Your uncle definitely won’t let your dad go today!"
"Alright!" Zhen Yu tossed a meaningful glance at Mr. Zhen to think over it himself, then stood up from the sofa and walked towards Han Mingyue’s room.
Knock knock—
"Creak!" After the door was opened, Han Mingyue first exchanged a glance with Zhen Yu, then looked over her toward the sofa direction, before smiling and stepping aside, "Come in."
Zhen Yu suddenly felt a bit embarrassed, but she was never the coy type. So, in a very short time, Zhen Yu adjusted her mindset and walked into the room with confidence.
"Zhen Yu? What brings you here?" Han Jiaoyang looked up and saw her, asking involuntarily.
Zhen Yu laughed, "What? You’re not welcoming me?"
"Of course not!" Han Jiayang immediately denied, secretly adding in his mind, "I’d love for you to come every day!"
Han Mingyue closed the door and walked over, silently looking at Zhen Yu, "You can’t handle it?"
Understanding his implication, Zhen Yu shrugged, "As you see."
Han Mingyue showed a knowing smile, "Homework?"
Zhen Yu blinked, "Give me some sheets of paper and a pen."
Han Mingyue pondered for a moment, "Alright."
Another stool was dragged over and the three of them gathered around to do their homework. Han Jiayang occasionally looked up at the two exchanging meaningful glances, feeling like he was constantly glowing like a light bulb.
He finished his homework at an unprecedented speed and swiftly stood up wanting to retreat, but was stopped by his brother.
"Where are you going?" Han Mingyue, still discussing a physics problem with Zhen Yu, asked without looking up.
Han Jiayang, looking at the top of the other two’s heads, naturally replied, "Back to my room! I’ve finished my homework!"
Han Mingyue sneakily glanced at Zhen Yu’s profile, then staring back at the physics problem said, "Sit down and do some revision."
"What?" Han Jiayang stared with his mouth open for quite a while, and seeing that the two were not paying him any attention, he thought of sneaking away.
But just as he turned around and lifted his foot, his brother’s voice came from behind him, "Sit down and do some revision!"
Han Jiayang, with his back to the two, rolled his eyes several times in frustration and sighed a few times, but eventually sat down obediently.
—
Zhen Yu and Han Mingyue almost simultaneously finished their homework.
Zhen Yu folded up her papers and tucked them into her pocket before standing up and saying to Han Mingyue, "I’ll go check how Uncle Han and the others are doing with their discussion."
Han Jiayang almost immediately stood up as well, and as soon as Zhen Yu finished speaking, he blurted out, "I’ve finished my revision too! I’m going back to my room!"
After saying that, he lifted his leg to leave, his tone filled with relief.
Han Mingyue remained seated, not looking at his brother who walked out the door, but rather kept his gaze on Zhen Yu.
Zhen Yu quickly understood and nodded lightly.
Only then did Han Mingyue look away, get up and head to the coat rack to get their coats.
Seeing Zhen Yu and Han Mingyue dressed and ready to leave, Mr. Zhen merely asked, "Xiao Yu, are you going home now?"
As Zhen Yu nodded, Mr. Han also told his son, "Ming Yue, you’re going to see her off, right? Go! Take Jiayang too, more people means more safety!"
Han Mingyue paused for a moment but still did as his father said. Since his brother claimed it was their father’s command, Han Jiayang reluctantly put on his coat and followed behind his brother and Zhen Yu out the door.
As soon as the door closed behind them, he started complaining, "Gosh, dad is way too cautious! It’s just the front and back yards, how unsafe can it be?!"
Han Mingyue vaguely had some other suspicions but didn’t think it wise to explain them to his brother, so he opted to play dumb and keep silent.
But Zhen Yu actually thought Mr. Han’s concerns were valid! Having been influenced by the future world’s internet, Zhen Yu knew very well, a teenage boy walking at night might not necessarily be safe.
