Rebirth: The Comeback of the Girl -
Chapter 200 Mind Your Own Business
Chapter 200: Chapter 200 Mind Your Own Business
Zhen Yu walked to the tree and set down her cushion at the border of shadow and sunlight, sitting with her back to the wheat field. The weather in mid-September was quite chilly after sitting under the shade for a while. Sitting like this, she could bask in the sun without getting her hands and face sunburned.
The students began to bend over to cut the wheat, and Zhen Yu took out her history textbook from her bag and immersed herself in memorizing.
Absorbed in her studies, Zhen Yu was oblivious to the comings and goings around her, but the students who came to drink water took notice of the quiet girl reading.
After cutting two rows of wheat in one go, Han Mingyue just happened to make a round trip. After returning to the starting point, he headed straight toward the tree.
"Xiao Yu, stop reading," Han Mingyue reached out from behind her and snatched the book from her hands.
He then sat down beside her on the right and said, tilting his head, "Have some water and eat something."
Zhen Yu smiled, said nothing, opened Han Mingyue’s backpack to take out the water bottle, and handed it over, "Here."
Han Mingyue was indeed very thirsty. He took the bottle and tilted his head to drink, gulping down several mouthfuls before he finally felt some relief in his throat.
Just as he was about to screw the cap back on the bottle, Zhen Yu gestured for him to open his mouth with a piece of preserved fruit, "Ah."
Han Mingyue felt a little embarrassed and instinctively said, "I can do it myself."
"Are your hands clean?" Zhen Yu gave Han Mingyue a look, not understanding why he was being so fussy. The preserved fruit was only the size of a thumb, he could simply open his mouth wider, and she could toss it in.
"..." Han Mingyue shook his head and obediently opened his mouth, "Ah..."
Zhen Yu, with her quick eyes and steady hands, was about to feed Han Mingyue the fruit when suddenly, someone gave a hard slap on his back, "Ugh!"
"Ha!" Han Jiayang let out a loud shout. He had done it on purpose, to startle the two while Zhen Yu was feeding his brother.
The scare made Han Mingyue jerk his head up and close his mouth abruptly, while Zhen Yu was momentarily stunned before quickly withdrawing her hand.
But that wasn’t the main point.
The main point was that Han Mingyue had accidentally included Zhen Yu’s fingertip in his mouth.
Although Zhen Yu quickly moved her hand behind her back, both of them were utterly embarrassed.
—
Seeing that his brother and Zhen Yu were silent, Han Jiayang asked somewhat curiously, "Why aren’t you two talking? Got scared speechless?"
"Hmm." Han Mingyue, distracted, chewed on the preserved fruit and responded vaguely.
Zhen Yu, however, glared at Han Jiayang and scolded angrily, "Didn’t Uncle Han tell you not to slap people on the back when they are eating? What if someone chokes or gets strangled?"
Han Jiayang pursed his lips and looked at his brother sideways, "Did you choke?"
Han Mingyue quickly shook his head and took a few sips of water.
"This time I didn’t choke! But you can’t guarantee it won’t happen next time! So, stop messing around when others are eating or drinking! Do you hear me?!"
Zhen Yu, having seen too many such incidents in her previous life, was afraid that Han Jiayang would not take it seriously and cause a disaster in the future, so she chose a few particularly frightening cases to tell him.
Han Jiayang originally wanted to argue a few points, but Zhen Yu’s words scared him.
Finally conceding after receiving a warning look from his brother, he said, "I heard you! I won’t do it again."
Having swallowed the food in his mouth, Han Mingyue asked, "What are you doing here? Have you finished your work?"
"No, just came over to have a look. I’ll help you guys out in a bit!"
Han Mingyue nodded, "I’ve got four more rows left here. You go back to work, and then come over after you’re done."
Han Jiaoyang slapped his butt and left.
As soon as he left, the remaining two felt especially awkward. Han Mingyue sneakily glanced at Zhen Yu, "I’m off to work too, remember to eat something."
"Okay." Zhen Yu took the book and watched him head towards the wheat field before she continued reading.
—
"Zhen Yu!" A shrill female voice entered Zhen Yu’s ears. Zhen Yu looked up. The person speaking to her in a condescending tone was unfamiliar, but standing next to her was Shen Qi, the female class president of the first year, third class.
Without even needing to guess, one could tell from the tone that this visit was going to be uncomfortable!
Zhen Yu asked equably, "Is there something you need from me?"
"Don’t play dumb! Aren’t you hurt? Then why don’t you go home to recuperate? Sitting here doing nothing while letting others do your work for you, how can you be so sneaky!"
Zhen Yu smiled faintly: "None of your business!"
"Han Mingyue is our classmate! You’ve bullied him since you arrived, and you’ll surely bully other classmates in the future! Of course, it’s my business then!"
"Who said I don’t choose my targets?" Zhen Yu rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Even if the likes of you came crawling to me, I can’t be bothered to bully you!"
"You!" The girl pointed at Zhen Yu, but then was at a loss for words and her arm dropped angrily.
It was Shen Qi who suddenly became talkative from her previous silence, "Zhen Yu! Although Li Lingling tends to stand up against injustice, she didn’t say anything too excessive to you! How can you speak to her like that? Moreover, our classmates are very united! With your antisocial behavior, how will you fit into first year, third class in the future? Or is it... is this how you got along with your classmates in your class?"
As soon as Shen Qi finished speaking, a smile suddenly bloomed on Zhen Yu’s expressionless face, and it quickly grew wider.
Shen Qi, watching the beaming girl opposite her, felt her heart pounding, sensing that things were about to go downhill!
-
"Don’t bother yourself. You’d be better off putting more effort into your studies than coming here trying to stir up trouble."
"What, what trouble?" Shen Qi was flustered as she glanced at Zhen Yu and then quickly turned her head to the girl named ’Li Lingling.’
Li Lingling’s expression changed slightly, and a second later, she spoke sternly, "You’re the one stirring trouble! I won’t believe your lies!"
"Whatever." After Zhen Yu said this to Li Lingling, she turned her head to Shen Qi and said, "Guess you won’t be witnessing a fight between the snipe and the clam. Take care, not seeing you off."
Shen Qi’s expression changed, and just as she was about to say something, Li Lingling suddenly huffed, "Why should you tell us to leave? This isn’t your private property!"
Zhen Yu glanced coldly at Li Lingling, disdainful of wasting her time with a little girl being used as a pawn. She stood up, grabbed her bag, moved to another patch of shade, sat down, and buried herself in her book again.
Seeing this, Shen Qi’s gaze deepened, while Li Lingling angrily stomped her foot, but in the end, neither felt good about bothering Zhen Yu further.
The two girls whispered to each other for a while then left together.
Zhen Yu didn’t immediately immerse herself in her book; she only pretended to do so, wanting to see what kind of character these two had and whether they would continue to harass her.
They would get treated by Zhen Yu in the same manner they treated her.
Seeing that the two girls knew where to draw the line, Zhen Yu couldn’t help but lift her head and chuckle, though internally she complained, "Han Mingyue, this bookworm, really knows how to attract trouble! Always causing me problems!"
