Chapter 151: caught Eavesdropping

Brother Calvin told me to eavesdrop!"

"What I actually said," Calvin drawled lazily, a smirk playing on his lips, "was that I wouldn’t snitch to your brother about your little eavesdropping adventure.

But since you got caught all on your own, don’t go blaming me now."

"You—!"

Melissa’s face crumpled with indignation. Ugh, she was never liking Calvin again!

Camilla couldn’t help but find the whole scene amusing.

Meanwhile, Sinclair merely lowered his lashes, idly toying with her fingers, his refined features in the picture of serene detachment.

Clearly, he had anticipated this scenario long ago.

"Whether Calvin puts you up to it or not doesn’t matter," Taylor shot a glare at Calvin before turning back to Melissa, his tone calm but firm.

"What matters is that you never learn your lesson.

Stand straight!"

Melissa pouted even more, though she didn’t dare argue.

After sneaking a resentful glance at Calvin and Sinclair, she shuffled over to the corner and stood facing the wall, sulking.

"I’ve left the medicinal ingredients here," Camilla said, meeting Taylor’s gaze with a meaningful look.

"Just let me know when you’re ready," she added.

"Also, I’ll need to administer acupuncture every three days, so we’ll have to schedule that in advance."

Taylor nodded in understanding.

"Don’t worry."

"Sweetheart," Camilla turned to Sinclair. "Everything’s settled.

Let’s head back."

"Mm."

Sinclair glanced at Taylor before wrapping an arm around Camilla’s waist and helping her up, leading her out the door.

They had just settled into the car when—

"Sweetheart, I..."

Camilla nestled against Sinclair’s chest, about to speak, when both their phones buzzed simultaneously.

"Buzz."

"Buzz."

Both of their attentions were instantly drawn to the vibrations.

On Camilla’s phone, Ramsey’s name flashed across the screen, while Sinclair’s displayed a message from Taylor.

Her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, her heart tightening with unease.

On one hand, she feared Ramsey might mention the life-bound curse over the call.

On the other hand, she worried Taylor might have second thoughts and reveal their earlier conversation to Sinclair.

Though she knew Taylor’s character made that highly unlikely, for her right now— Unlikely didn’t mean impossible.

The strikingly handsome man beside her tightened his arm around her waist, his lips curling into a lazy smirk.

"Sweetheart, not going to answer?"

Camilla knew ignoring it would only deepen Sinclair’s suspicions.

"I’ll take it, but sweetheart,"

She curved her lips into a playful smile.

"You won’t blame me for always bossing around your top assistant, will you?"

"Of course not,"

Sinclair replied, his dark eyes fixed on her delicate face just inches away.

He paused, then added in a low, deliberate voice, "But I’d much prefer it if Camilla bossed *me* around directly."

"Next time, definitely," Camilla murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of his lips before answering the call.

"Madam," Ramsey’s voice came through, cutting straight to the point.

"The person has been placed near to Mr. Luther as you instructed."

A brief silence followed before he continued,

"Should I arrange some... *incidents* to help spark their old flame?"

Ah, so it was about Tamara. Camilla exhaled inwardly, her beautiful eyes narrowing slightly.

"No need," she said smoothly.

"Their past is more than enough to reignite the fire on its own."

It wouldn’t be long before Jonathan sensed the looming threat.

But this time, with her interference, Jonathan would find it far more difficult to resolve this particular problem.

A cold smirk played at the corners of Sinclair’s lips.

He had refrained from directly confronting Jonathan and Margaret out of consideration for the grandpa.

But Camilla had no such constraints—she could act as she pleased. The more turmoil she stirred, the better.

The call ended, and silence settled back into the car.

"Sweetheart," Camilla looped her arms around Sinclair’s neck, her voice sweet and teasing.

"Aren’t you going to ask what Taylor said to me?"

Sinclair’s gaze deepened as his slender fingers traced the curve of her cheek.

His smiling eyes darkened like spilled ink.

"Do you want to tell me?"

The implication was clear.

If she didn’t wish to speak of it, he wouldn’t press.

Camilla studied him for a moment, her expression softening, before recounting Taylor’s questions in full.

Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t dream of keeping anything from Sinclair.

Besides, Taylor hadn’t asked her to keep it a secret either.

"Thirty years?"

Sinclair arched an eyebrow, his arm tightening around Camilla’s slender waist.

"My Camilla really is a treasure."

Taylor’s health had been a weight on both him and Calvin’s shoulders.

After all, for men like them, true friends were rare.

Camilla’s eyes curved into crescents, her dimples lending her an irresistible charm.

"Your treasure wants to go home now. Are you coming with me?"

"I’d love to, but I can’t bear to see my treasure cry," Sinclair tightened his grip slightly, pressing her delicate frame flush against him before leaning down to brush his lips against her ear, his deep voice roughened with desire.

"Camilla, tell me—what should we do, hm?"

That... was indeed a problem.

Camilla bit her lip, acutely aware of the lingering soreness in her waist.

But it certainly wasn’t because she was fragile—it was just that Sweetheart’s stamina was far too formidable.

"Maybe you should head back to the office first..."

Camilla’s words trailed off as the man tilted her chin up and captured her lips in a searing kiss.

Their breaths mingled, the air between them growing thick with tension.

When the kiss finally broke, Sinclair’s lips still lingered against hers, his voice a husky whisper.

"You are a heartless little thing."

Meanwhile, in the study of the Taylor family estate...

Calvin regarded Taylor with deliberate calm before speaking.

"Go on,"

Calvin gazed at Taylor, his deep voice unhurried yet laced with subtle tension.

"What exactly did you and Camilla discuss that required privacy?"

His earlier teasing of Melissa hadn’t been entirely in jest.

Between Taylor and Camilla, the only topic warranting a private conversation was his medical condition.

Otherwise, Sinclair would never have allowed it.

Taylor had anticipated Calvin’s question.

His hands never paused as he continued steeping the tea with practiced grace.

After a moment, he placed a cup before Calvin before finally looking up, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"I wanted to know how much longer this body, poisoned for so many years, has left to live."

Just as expected. Calvin’s hand, midway to lifting the teacup, stilled.

His brows furrowed as he studied Taylor intently.
