Chapter 128: A road Side accident

--- Luther Corporation.

"No issues?"

Sinclair lifted his gaze to dr. Alex, his voice low and deliberate.

"Are you certain?"

Though his tone gave nothing away, the authority in his words was unmistakable.

"Yes," dr. Alex released Sinclair’s wrist and nodded solemnly.

"Your health is stable, and your previous condition has even shown signs of improvement.

This is good news."

No issues.

Had he been overthinking it? Sinclair remained silent, leaning back into his chair once more.

His long fingers tapped rhythmically against the leather armrest in an absentminded cadence.

Or was it simply that Dr. Alex had failed to detect anything?

Dr. Alex wiped the cold sweat from his temple with a trembling hand.

After what felt like an eternity, Sinclair finally set down his teacup and lifted his gaze again.

Dr. Alex stiffened instantly, his grip on the cup tightening before he forced himself to place it down.

Has he... said something wrong just now?

"Thank you for making the trip," Sinclair said, his strikingly handsome face betraying no emotion as he pressed a circular button on the desk.

"I’ll have Ramsey escort you out."

Before the words were fully settled, the door swung open from the outside.

Ramsey stepped in, his expression grave.

"Mr. Luther." "No trouble at all, no trouble," Dr. Alex replied hurriedly, the tension in his chest finally easing as his racing heart slowed.

Sinclair turned his head slightly, his piercing gaze resting on Ramsey as he spoke in a voice like ice.

"Escort Dr. Alex."

"Understood."

Ramsey stepped beside the elderly physician.

"Dr. Alex, let me assist you."

"No need, no need." Dr. Alex swiftly rose from his seat and hastily packed his medical kit. "Mr. Luther, I’ll take my leave now."

Sinclair’s dark eyes narrowed slightly as he gave a faint nod.

With that acknowledgment, Dr. Alex hurried out of the room.

Ramsey exchanged a brief glance with Sinclair before following.

Only after stepping out of the Luther Corporation building did Dr. Alex finally relaxed, his tense shoulders easing as he turned to pat Ramsey on the back.

"Ah, youth—such resilience," he sighed.

"Next time, do me a favor and suggest Mr. Luther finds someone else for these little errands.

These old bones of mine can’t take much more of this."

The Luther Family’s grandfather and grandson—both equally intimidating.

If the pay weren’t so outrageously good, he’d never willingly face either of them again.

Being constantly on edge will shorten your lifespan.

"...I’ll try my best," Ramsey forced a smile, understanding exactly what dr. Alex meant as he helped the elderly man into the car.

After the vehicle drove off, he took a deep breath and strode toward the CEO’s office with the grim determination of a soldier heading into battle.

Meanwhile, a sleek black Porsche was speeding toward the Luther Corporation headquarters.

In the backseat, Camilla rested her head against her hand, eyes closed in feigned sleep.

Yet her slightly pursed crimson lips and the icy aura surrounding her betrayed any pretense of relaxation.

The tense silence was suddenly shattered by an abrupt noise.

"Madam," the man whispered, his voice barely audible.

"Arlo is taking the elevator to Miss Tiffany’s floor.

Should we have our people intercept him now?"

"No need," Camilla replied slowly, her eyes opening to reveal a frosty gaze.

"As long as he doesn’t harm Fanny, hold back. Let’s see what he’s up to first."

"Understood!"

The call ended, and Camilla turned her cold stare toward the view outside the window.

Given Arlo’s temperament—having just suffered humiliation yesterday and being thoroughly roughed up by her men—it was impossible for him to regain his composure so quickly and visit Fanny at the hospital with sweet words.

The only explanation was that he had received new orders.

This time, she hoped to follow the trail Arlo left and uncover the bigger scheme behind him.

Meanwhile, in the VIP ward of Luther Corporation’s private hospital... "Arlo?"

Fanny abruptly snapped her book shut when she saw the figure entering the doorway, her face still flushed with lingering anger.

"I told you not to show your face around me for a while. What are you doing here again?"

"Fanny," Arlo replied, the corners of his lips curling into an inscrutable smile as he stepped toward her.

"I came to apologize.

No need to be so furious."

"Apologize?"

Fanny’s voice was icy as she glared at him.

"That word has lost all meaning coming from your lips.

Get out.

I don’t want to see you right now."

"I brought you something," Arlo said, slipping a hand into his pocket.

"I’ll leave right after."

Fanny arched an eyebrow, her delicate features twisting into undisguised mockery.

"Another one of your handmade trinkets?" "You’ll see."

With that, Arlo pulled out a handkerchief soaked in a strange liquid from his pocket and lunged forward, pressing it violently over Fanny’s nose and mouth.

"Mmmph... mmmph..."

Tiffany’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at the brooding Arlo before her, her nails digging into the back of his hand until crimson marks bloomed.

But soon, her eyelids fluttered shut, and she slumped into unconsciousness.

Arlo released his grip, then wheeled in the prepared chair from outside the door.

After hastily draping his coat over Tiffany and covering her face with a hat and mask, he pushed her out.

Twenty minutes later, the car sped away from the hospital. ---

Meanwhile, on the road to the Luther Corporation.

"Screech—"

The tires shrieked against the pavement as the car jerked to a sudden stop.

Camilla’s body lurched forward from the momentum.

Though her seatbelt held her in place, her head still collided hard against the back of the front seat.

"Madam, I’m so sorry!"

The driver’s voice was laced with panic.

"Are you alright?!"

"I’m fine," The Luther Family’s chauffeurs were all professionally trained and would never behave like this under normal circumstances.

Camilla rubbed her forehead, her voice gentle yet steady.

"What’s going on up ahead?"

"A little girl, no more than five or six years old, suddenly ran into the middle of the road," the driver explained, beads of cold sweat forming on his brow.

"I’ll go check it out."

A five or six-year-old girl?

"Let me handle it," Camilla said, eyeing the towering, stern-faced driver before stepping out of the car.

"Keep an eye on the traffic behind us and pull over to the side."

Noticing the approaching vehicles, the driver could only nod in agreement.

Camilla closed the door and walked around to the front of the car.

Sure enough, there lay a little girl, no older than five or six, dressed in colorful traditional clothing.

At first glance, it resembled the attire of an ethnic minority.

Her snow-white cheeks were flushed, and her large, grape-like eyes brimmed with tears.

Her tiny lips trembled as she fought back sobs.

Camilla’s heart melted instantly.

After scanning the surroundings, she found no sign of the child’s family.

Kneeling beside the little girl, she extended her hand and spoke in the gentlest tone.

"How about we move to the sidewalk first, sweetheart?

It’s too dangerous here."

The little girl nodded but didn’t take her hand to stand up.

Instead, she stretched out both tiny arms, silently asking to be carried.

Camilla usually disliked physical contact with strangers, but that rule clearly didn’t apply to the child before her.

"Alright, up you go," she said, scooping the girl into her arms and carrying her to the safer side of the road.

"Sweetie, the street is very dangerous.

Promise me you won’t run off alone again, okay?"

The little girl nodded obediently.

"Where are your parents?"

At this, the child pointed vaguely in one direction before shaking her head.

Helplessness filled her adorable face, and soon, fat teardrops rolled down her cheeks as if she could no longer hold them back.

A flicker of understanding crossed Camilla’s beautiful eyes.

Could this little one not speak?

Just as she was about to check the girl’s pulse to assess the situation, a shrill woman’s voice suddenly cut through the air.

"Carie?!"
