Chiang Baoguo had brought Song Xiyun and Chiang Caijiao with him, and as Song Xiyun and Chiang Caijiao stepped through the door, they felt as though their eyes couldn’t take it all in.

The large houses in the county town were not only big but also very clean and pretty!

These days they were temporarily living in a rented room Chiang Baoguo had found, which was right next to the factory, all kinds of dirty and messy! Moreover, the place was very small, with no kitchen, just a makeshift stove set up. Inside, there was only a small bed and a worn sofa that appeared to have been dragged in from who knows where.

Chiang Baoguo didn’t sleep there, but Song Xiyun couldn’t stop worrying about him. She went to his factory every night to see for herself that he was really there and not out meeting that shameless Ding woman.

Chiang Songhai had no choice but to step aside.

Ge Liutao, who was busy in the dining room, did not go to welcome them immediately upon hearing their voices. Instead, she somewhat frantically tried to first bring in and hide in the cabinet the ten-or-so boxes of pastries that she had packaged.

But before she could put away the remaining half-plate of pastries, Song Xiyun had already made a beeline for it.

As soon as she entered, she smelled the sweet aroma of the pastries and couldn’t resist it.

"Second Aunt, what delicious thing are you making?"

As she asked, her eyes were already fixed on the plate Ge Liutao was holding.

The pastries on the plate were pretty, colorful, and gave off an irresistibly sweet smell.

Song Xiyun’s mouth was watering, and without waiting for Ge Liutao to reply, she had already reached out, "Let me taste a piece!"

"Dongdong’s mother, this can’t be eaten," Ge Liutao said in a rush, turning with the plate in such a nimble and quick move that she avoided Song Xiyun’s hand.

This would have been impossible in the past.

Song Xiyun was taken aback.

Chiang Caijiao following at her side found such pastries even more irresistibly appealing as a child. She gently tugged at the hem of Ge Liutao’s clothes, "Auntie, I’m so hungry."

As she said this, she looked longingly at the plate in her hands.

Though Ge Liutao was reluctant, she had no other choice but to give a child a piece of pastry. She looked at Chiang Caijiao, hesitated for a moment, then handed her a red bean pastry, "Go ahead, eat.

Chiang Caijiao was delighted, "Thank you, Auntie!"

However, another hand moved even faster alongside her, reaching out to snatch the pastry and stuffing it into a mouth in one swift motion.

Both Ge Liutao and Chiang Caijiao were stunned.

"Oh wow, this is so delicious! Second Aunt, how did you make this? It’s wonderful," Song Xiyun mumbled through mouthfuls of pastry, praising indistinctly.
