Chapter 1423: Chapter 1395 Did She Hint at Me? (Part One) Chapter 1423: Chapter 1395 Did She Hint at Me? (Part One) “All I did was buy a car, do you really have to mock me like this, if you keep it up, I’m going to feel embarrassed…” Carter was chatting with Mrs. Kiara, when suddenly her face changed, and she froze in place.
“What’s wrong?” Kiara noticed her distress, and Carter looked around anxiously, her previous ease gone.
“She’s nearby, I can feel it…”
This unexplainable twin intuition was something Mrs. Kiara was witnessing for the first time. She followed Carter’s gaze and, sure enough, saw a Taxi parked on the side of the road, with Akatenango getting out of the car.
“Why doesn’t she drive herself?” Kiara asked, squeezing Carter’s hand to bolster her spirits as they watched Akatenango walk towards them.
“She has no sense of direction…”
“Pfft.” Kiara burst out laughing. “Which is why you shouldn’t idolize anyone too much. Nobody’s perfect, right?”
Despite some mental preparation and being warmed by love and friendship, Carter still found it difficult to control her psychological barrier upon seeing her nightmare materialize. Her whole body tensed up.
Seeing this, Kiara said nothing but stood by Carter’s side, watching Akatenango approach with a faint smile on her face.
“My sister, are you well?”
Akatenango stood in front of Carter, her smile not reaching her eyes, which flickered with hatred.
Before Carter could speak, Kiara replied in English.
“Has the swelling on your face gone down? Oh, you haven’t been around these past few days; were you icing it at home?”
Not wanting to waste time and words on someone like that and unwilling to listen to their so-called pleasantries, Kiara’s blunt response made Akatenango’s smile tighten, and her attention instantly shifted from Carter to Kiara.
“You’re my sister’s friend?” Akatenango had seen Kiara last time when that aggressive man had hit her.
“None of your business.”
Akatenango felt Kiara’s voice was somehow familiar–soft and distant, quite pleasant to hear, yet it evoked a subconscious fear in Akatenango.
“A friend of my sister is also a friend of mine. Since we’ve met, why not get together for a bit, perhaps find a place to have some Coffee?”
“No!” Carter refused without hesitation.
“Sister, we haven’t seen each other in so long. Surely you aren’t going to cruelly reject me in front of your friend, are you?” Akatenango smiled at Carter with an angelic yet chilling smile.
Kiara tightened her grip on Carter’s hand, “If someone’s treating, it would be rude to refuse.”
“Mrs. Kiara?” Carter looked to Mrs. Kiara for help, and Kiara squeezed her hand and winked at her.
Mr. Zoel had already set the stage so beautifully; the rest was up to her to handle.
Akatenango, confident that no one could refuse her, smiled smugly, but then her smile paused when she glanced at the car behind Carter.
“Sis, you got a new car?”
“Yeah.”
“Heh, you’re not driving that hideous, cheap old car anymore? I thought it suited you quite well. By the way, have you ever told your friend about how you killed cats with your car? Those cute little kittens, you backed over them and squashed them all…”
Akatenango mentioned it casually, dropping hints as naturally as breathing, enjoying how easily her worthless sister had been manipulated by her words, just like always.
“Although those cats you squashed were a miserable sight, I guess you don’t really care, right? After all, you have so much blood on your hands, you wouldn’t care about human deaths, let alone cats. Oh, my apologies, I forgot your friend is here. I hope I didn’t scare her with what I said?”
Kiara supported Aka, feeling her unsteady steps, then saw the murderous look in Akatenango’s eyes.
So this woman had repeatedly used the exposure of Aka’s fearful scars as a tool, accumulating in a compounding way, from initially light references to an unbearable burden later on. Every word she said carried a strong implication.
It seemed that Mr. Zoel’s beating the day before yesterday wasn’t harsh enough on her.
Mrs. Kiara pushed her Glasses up and suddenly laughed, turning the tide completely with just one sentence.
“Those cats, you were the one who placed them under her car wheels. Even if her hands are stained with blood, that blood surely contains sacrifices made to protect you. You have no right to criticize her,”
Kiara’s affirmation left Akatenango instantly stunned, and Aka, too, snapped out of the fear she’d been taunted with, staring at Mrs. Kiara in surprise.
Kiara reached out and knocked on Aka’s head.
“You don’t even know how to talk back when you’re bullied, you silly Egg,”
At this moment, Aka felt as if she were drinking a warm sip of water on a cold winter’s day, warmth spreading throughout her body.
“It looks like this friend of yours doesn’t know about my sister’s previous career, does she?” Akatenango was surprised for a few seconds after Kiara exposed the truth, her career sensitivity letting her know that the girl in front of her was no ordinary person.
“I know, and I understand you even more.”
Kiara was clearly a cut above.
The manipulations Akatenango had intended to use to attack Aka were effortlessly defused by Mrs. Kiara.
“Her job was just like yours. You say her hands are stained with blood, what about you? A doctor who doesn’t save the dying, do you think of the patients whose cries you ignored at midnight? How wonderful does it feel to count Money standing on a pile of dead bodies?”
Kiara’s confrontation made Akatenango step back, her gaze at Mrs. Kiara becoming sharp in an instant.
“Who are you, exactly?”
“Her friend.” That was all.
Mrs. Kiara opened the Taxi door and pushed Aka in, then turned to say to Akatenango.
“In front of Sister, your child’s play is no match. Go and train for a few more years before coming out to cause trouble. It seems you weren’t sincere in inviting us today, so let’s meet another day. Oh, by the way,”
Kiara suddenly smiled radiantly at her, her eyes brimming with a touch of evil.
“Have you had dreams of those cats you doomed meowing at you? I think the one they truly hate should be you.”
The dust kicked up by the car left Akatenango choking on a bout of dry cough. She kept pondering Kiara’s words, wondering why this seemingly strange woman felt so familiar?
And after talking to Kiara for a few sentences, Akatenango felt an acute unease in her chest, as if something had poked her and wouldn’t settle for a long time.
“Damn it!” She stamped her foot in the direction of the departing car, deprived of the satisfaction of irritating her silly sister, left with a heart full of inexplicable fear.
On the way Home, Kiara asked Aka.
“Tell me about the cat incident.”
“Actually, I almost forgot…” It was all a very long time ago.
“Many trivial matters might just be the trigger for psychological disorders. She must have used this as a catalyst for negative suggestions, which shows it must be significant.”
“You’re saying she was implying something to me?!”
