Chapter 1141: Chapter 1113 Found the Breakthrough Chapter 1141: Chapter 1113 Found the Breakthrough “You’re so right, it really works!” Aka wiped off the paint and then looked up at him with a big smile. After being at such odds for so long, seeing her unguarded smile made Zoel feel as if he was seeing her from a previous life.

Actually, when they first met, though the girl was kind of silly and even came up with that devastating nickname for him, she smiled at him quite sincerely, just like she was doing now.

Zoel haughtily snorted, “Nonsense, Mr. Zoel never does anything if he’s not sure of it. Hurry up, we’re about to get on the highway and I’ll need to speed up.”

“Yeah, hurry, let’s go save Mrs. Kiara together!”

With this little favor received, Aka didn’t find Zoel as repulsive anymore, though she didn’t like him much more than before, that is.

The car headed towards Linville, and by this time it was getting dark. Kiara returned from the market laden with bags, holding a dog leash in one hand and a basket with a cabbage inside in her mouth.

This scene drew sideways glances from other residents in the neighborhood, with some neighbors stopping to greet Kiara, and the more observant ones even making a few teasing remarks.

“Aren’t you teaching today? It’s the first time I’ve seen you buy groceries.”

This beautiful lady of means was somewhat of an enigma in the courtyard, rumored to be a student, never seen by the neighbors going out to buy groceries, always maintaining an image of delicate hands untouched by the chores of daily life. What brought about today’s change?

“I won’t be so busy in the future, I’ll cook more often.” Kiara, provoked, decided to transform her image. She felt that if she didn’t find something to do, she would collapse.

“Does that mean your Young Aunt is going to be laid off?”

Kiara forced a smile, pretending not to hear the insincere, probing joke.

Let them think what they want, her Camden already had post-traumatic stress disorder, and from today, she was going to free herself as well.

Back home, Kiara took the cookbook she had bought and started to study it. She pretended she was an ordinary housewife, her husband a reticent businessman, and she pretended that none of the hurt had ever happened.

It was a pathological reaction, but Kiara wouldn’t admit it.

Holding a cabbage, she cut down and the cabbage rolled away. The knife slipped and cut her hand, but thankfully it wasn’t a deep wound, only the skin was broken.

Blood rushed out, and it took Kiara a few seconds to feel the pain. She found a band-aid, put it on, and continued cooking.

She remembered that she needed to “explode” the pot first–pouring oil and then adding the vegetables–but she didn’t control the heat well, and the pot got too hot, catching fire immediately. Kiara rushed to pour the vegetables into the pot, trying to smother the flames, but as she moved closer, before the veggies even hit the pot, she smelled something akin to singed pig hair; only then did she realize her unbound hair, in her effort to adopt a housewife persona, had caught fire. She quickly pinched it with her fingers, a tuft of her hair half burnt, and her fingertips also scorched.

The oil was too hot, and when the cabbage went in, it all turned black, sticking to the cabbage, looking disgustingly gross, uncertain whether such food would even be safe to eat.

Kiara, out of spite, turned off the fire and threw the vegetables out, looking at the kitchen she had put into disarray. The piercing pain in her fingertip threw her forced composure into chaos again.

She just stood amidst the wreckage, staring at the chaos she had created, dazed, until the Beautiful Lady came over and nuzzled her. That’s when Kiara snapped out of it.

What was she really doing?

“I’m such an idiot.”

“Woof!”

Beautiful Lady nudged her leg with its head, sensing that something was off with Kiara in her dazed state.

Two streams of tears ran down Kiara’s face, “What on earth am I doing? Did I think by pretending to be a housewife I could escape everything? It turns out all I’m good for is treating and saving patients. I can’t even cook properly, what use am I?”

Her current mood was surely a reflection of Mario Yuno’s.

When a couple profoundly loves each other, their thoughts can sometimes align. One person’s anxiety can infect the other, and as Mario burrowed into his fixation, Kiara was being infected by it.

Beautiful Lady didn’t understand what was wrong with its male and female owners, but it felt that the home had changed. It preferred the old home, where the female owner would always chase and scare it, but when compared to the current eerie atmosphere, it longed for those days when it would play with the female owner and then be secretly fed treats by the male owner upon his return.

Kiara knelt on the floor, holding Beautiful Lady uncontrollably, “I feel so useless. I always thought I had more experience than others, and I thought I had both love and a successful career. But now, looking back, I’m no better than I was in my past life. I thought I had grown into a great tree, but when the storm comes, I’m useless and can’t do anything. What’s the difference between me and the version of me in my past life who harmed him?”

Mario blames himself for personally betraying a past friend, agonizing over his inability to shoot.

Kiara blames herself for not helping Mario in their past life and for being helpless this time, troubled by her inability to heal him through medicine and even too clumsy to prepare a delicious meal for him.

“In my past life, I was useless. I couldn’t recognize him as my benefactor, and I was stupid enough to be kidnapped and still, he saved me. I should have noticed something was off with him then–wait, he saved me?!”

Initially, Kiara was embracing Beautiful Lady to vent her heart, which was on the verge of shattering. She couldn’t say these words to anyone and could only talk to a dog. But as she spoke, a light bulb went off in her head; something was not right!

Suddenly, Kiara recalled something. She leapt to her feet and rushed towards the small bedroom, startling Beautiful Lady, which spun around twice in place.

Oh no, has her female owner gone mad? One moment she’s crying and the next she’s frantic. Are all human behaviors this strange…

Upon reaching the bedroom, Kiara pulled out pen and paper and started to draw a timeline. She drew two timelines, one for her past life, and one for her current life.

Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t bother with this, but this particular moment was when Kiara was so disturbed by her concern for Mario that it hampered her sanity. Better to draw a line for clarity.

On the timeline, she marked the time when she met Mario, the progression of their relationship, and then compared the two timelines.

In her past life, though she initially met Mario when she jumped into the River and he saved her, their true progress happened when she was kidnapped at a bar and he came to her rescue.

By calculating the time, it would be a few years later than now when Mario’s personality had already changed, meaning that in her past life, the period of Mario’s post-traumatic stress disorder from the Baron incident likely occurred between now and the next few years.

If Kiara hadn’t come back in her past life, it would be impossible to determine exactly when the item from Old Man Li Brown was handed over. If they found a Doctor, it would start this year; if not, it likely wouldn’t be until after Old Man Li Brown’s death, which then triggered the chase after Baron for the stolen goods.

But no matter when it happened, that was not important. Kiara hit upon something crucial.

Her pen circled the event when Mario saved her.

That was it!

She’d found the breakthrough!
