Chapter 1128: Chapter 1100: For once, she’s willing to take a loss Chapter 1128: Chapter 1100: For once, she’s willing to take a loss “One just got back from our place, he was called over by someone else, you know about Zenith Kyan, right?”
Kiara understood, it must have been that Mario Yuno had encountered some sort of situation while helping, and Zenith Kyan, worried but not daring to inform her directly, had found someone from the psychological intervention team to step in.
“Just tell me straight, what happened?” Kiara asked.
The reason Zenith Kyan sought outside help was to keep Kiara in the dark, but since Patrick could make the call, it indicated the situation was no longer under their control, and Kiara’s expression grew serious.
“He ran into some issues tonight, Zenith Kyan is worried he might have some psychological shadows, and the tests I conducted showed normal results, but I just feel something’s not quite right… Anyway, Kiara, keep a close eye on One.”
Patrick was a specially recruited psychological expert with a doctorate in criminal psychology; being the team captain proved his capabilities. Although he couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong with Mario Yuno, he still felt something was strange.
It wasn’t just him, Oliver Moss ‘Magic Flute’ thought the same, and so did several other psychological experts in the team.
The guys had a meeting and thought it inappropriate to keep Kiara in the dark, after all, everyone had witnessed her abilities.
“Alright, I got it.” Kiara hung up the phone, feeling relieved yet also harboring some doubts.
Her relief came from hearing that Mario Yuno was alright, but the doubts were due to what Patrick had said.
Her husband had only helped out this time because of the friendship between their families, and it wasn’t supposed to be a big deal, but why did Patrick think Mario Yuno was acting strangely?
Could it be that Camden had encountered a very special situation?
Kiara suddenly remembered joking with Mario Yuno a few days earlier, saying if someone like Mario Yuno had psychological issues, it would be terminal.
Because he was a man with extremely strong self-control and possessed a subconscious against therapy, meaning it was absolutely impossible for anyone to play mind games with him. Things like Kiara’s hypnotherapy, treatments, and so on, had no effect on him.
This meant one thing, Mario Yuno would either never have any psychological problems in a lifetime, or if he did have problems, it would be terminal.
Kiara wouldn’t be able to save him; nobody could interfere with his psychology.
With this thought, Kiara grew restless. On one hand, she felt she might be overthinking it–what could possibly disturb the super strong psyche of Mario Yuno?
Yet Patrick’s words left her unsettled, tormented.
As she was struggling with her thoughts, the door opened.
Mario Yuno walked in from outside.
“Daughter-in-law, why aren’t you asleep yet?”
“You’re back!” Kiara hurried over, examining him up and down.
Mario Yuno had already changed into fresh clothes and seemed the same as usual, the same tone, the same expressions.
But Kiara spotted something off in an instant.
The buttons on his shirt were done up incorrectly.
At home, Mario Yuno would occasionally wander around in a vest and underpants without a care for his image, but once he stepped outside, he was always impeccably dressed, without a single fault; a wrongly buttoned shirt was an impossibility.
Kiara’s heart clenched, but she feigned ignorance, “You must be tired, I’ll run a bath for you.”
“Yeah, I’m tired, I’ll go take a shower. Is there anything to eat at home? I’m hungry.”
“There are some dumplings in the fridge, I can heat them up for you in the microwave oven.”
“Don’t bother, I’ll sort it out myself later.”
The conversation sounded like their usual exchange, but Kiara’s frown deepened.
Watching him pretend to casually change his shoes and head for the bathroom, something was off–he was acting too out of the ordinary.
This abnormality wasn’t obvious; if asked to specifically describe what was wrong with him, Kiara couldn’t pinpoint it, it was just an intuition.
After all, they had been together for so long, and now, Camden gave her the impression of someone who had been hurt but pretended to be alright.
If people had three souls and seven spirits, Kiara felt like one of Mario Yuno’s souls had not come back, leaving him completely out of sorts.
Kiara’s intuition was very sharp.
Mario Yuno entered the bathroom, stood directly under the shower without bothering to take off his clothes, and turned on the cold water. With the icy water drenching his clothes, he stood there expressionlessly, motionless, letting the water pour over him.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Kiara came in.
“What on earth are you doing!” Kiara was extremely distressed when she saw him like this, and she quickly rushed over to adjust the water temperature for him.
In the dead of winter, even if the house was heated, one couldn’t abuse their body like this!
Mario Yuno embraced her, burying his head in her shoulder and remaining motionless.
Kiara had never seen him like this before. She knew something serious must have happened and gently patted his shoulder, as though comforting a child.
“What exactly happened? Were your things stolen?”
Besides that, Kiara couldn’t think of anything else that could have turned her husband, who had never known failure, into what he was now.
She didn’t know how to describe his current state–like a soul lost in grief, the entire person immersed in profound sorrow.
“The things are still there.”
Mario Yuno moved his head away from her shoulder and began to shower again. He always felt an inescapable sense of heaviness.
“Could it be… something happened to you?” Kiara sensed something was wrong from his reaction. He wouldn’t say some things, but she felt as if she could guess some of it.
To make a battle-hardened God of War lose his composure like this, Kiara guessed it must be someone he knew.
“It’s nothing, get out.”
Mario Yuno always felt Baron’s blood still sticky on his hands, unbearably warm, as if he could never wash it away.
Kiara knew he wouldn’t tell her.
So, she could only piece together the information she had. Mario Yuno had definitely encountered someone he knew, combined with the things Patrick had said over the phone, someone from abroad…
Kiara’s eyes widened in shock: now this was a big deal.
“You didn’t run into Baron, did you!”
“Get out,” he said, his face devoid of emotion.
His expression and reaction also told Kiara an important piece of information.
She guessed right!!!
Just a few hours ago, she had been combing her hair with the comb Baron gave her, but now Camden’s expression told her that she had probably guessed correctly!!!
His condition made Kiara feel very uneasy.
After being driven out, Kiara became increasingly anxious. She thought it over and over again and decided to call a person who had attended her wedding. She got straight to the point.
“Uncle, I’ll help you out as a freelancer in the future; I won’t take any holidays nor negotiate any terms with you. Can you consider me an unofficial member of your team?”
The person on the other end of the line immediately sensed something was amiss.
This girl had never been one to take the initiative; asking for help from her always meant having to negotiate terms. Why would she suddenly say she wouldn’t ask for anything in the future?
“Kiara, is there a problem over there? We’d certainly welcome you as an unofficial member. After all, the way you helped us resolve that hostage situation last time was highly praised, and this time with the treatment of phobias was also excellent. But you have to tell me first, what happened to you?”
