The Second Brother quickly removed the towel from his son’s face. Poor son, nearly suffocated by his mother in his sleep.
With his sleep disturbed, Zoe’s face scrunched up like a bun. The Second Brother hastily patted him, and feeling his father’s presence, Zoe hummed twice and then continued sleeping.
The Second Brother looked at Isaac, puzzled. Why was she so scared?
“Go ahead, I know everything.”
“You know?!” Isaac was shocked.
“Yes, I just saw him. Did you also see him in casual clothes with a woman that day?”
“No! I only saw him in casual clothes, but I couldn’t make out if he was with a woman. I just saw him coming out of the supermarket with two big bags of stuff, and I thought you followed him too.”
“And then?”
“I wanted to find you that day, but I was on the bus and couldn’t get off. I saw his car heading towards the house in your old neighborhood, so I called Edward Wheeler to ask him to meet me at the entrance of the neighborhood.”
Kiara’s house was not far from hers. She had lived there before her marriage.
The gatekeeper was strict, requiring a card to enter. Isaac couldn’t get in, so she thought of asking Mario Yuno to pick her up.
“Whenever I call, I would casually ask where he is. I thought he would say he was at that house with you, then I could tell him to come down and meet me, and surprise you, but I didn’t expect… he said he was at the company.”
Suddenly, Isaac remembered that Kiara was at her mother’s home at that time. What was Mario Yuno doing with two big bags of stuff?
She could only comfort herself that the car and the person she saw that day were not Mario Yuno, just someone who looked somewhat similar.
This was a terrifying thought to dwell on.
Isaac had received a tremendous shock that day. It was a dilemma.
After much inner conflict, Isaac could only subtly hint to Kiara over the phone, a way to warn her without causing unnecessary trouble and damaging the couple’s relationship.
Kiara easily drew out what Isaac had hinted at over the phone; she now knew where to confront Mario Yuno.
The old house Isaac mentioned wasn’t far from here. If Mario Yuno really dared to hide a mistress in that house, she would–
What would she do then?
Kiara was a bit disgusted with herself. The situation had gotten this far, yet deep down, she still trusted Mario Yuno.
Could love really blind one to such an extent, clouding vision and shrouding intelligence, making her want to be a fool, believing in a man who might be using her house to keep someone else?
But Kiara irrationally believed, believed he wouldn’t do that.
Wouldn’t do something to hurt her, wouldn’t betray the pure love they shared.
Proving she wasn’t wrong was simple. She just needed to go and see for herself, to find out what he was really up to.
With this thought, Kiara made her way to her house, locked the car, and stood in front of the elevator, taking a deep breath.
If she really saw Mario Yuno with a young woman, raised in her own house, could she control her emotions?
Just the thought of that scene made her heart wrench in pain. She really didn’t want to confront it, but she painfully realized that she too harbored insecurities and a lack of confidence.
After hanging up with Kiara, Isaac paced around the hospital room, very worried about Mrs. Kiara.
Turning her head, she saw the Second Brother of Yuno Family sneak out.
Isaac also followed the Second Brother quietly and saw him take out his phone in the hallway. Isaac spoke up suddenly, startling him.
“What are you doing?!”
“Calling the Youngest Brother.” The second brother, a straightforward boy, really couldn’t lie; when Isaac asked, he honestly replied.
“That’s too much! You are in cahoots with the faithless one. You even want to tip him off, you’re an accomplice!”
Isaac glared at him with ferocity, as if to say dare to inform the Youngest Brother of Yuno Family, and I dare to completely sever ties with you.
“I just think that the matter hasn’t been investigated thoroughly yet. You women are making wild guesses. Wouldn’t it be better to ask the Youngest directly? Don’t destroy the family unity.”
Second Brother of Yuno Family had a one-track mind.
He absolutely refused to believe that his younger brother would betray his sister-in-law, and his way of dealing with problems was to make a direct phone call.
“True gold isn’t afraid of fire! If Edward Wheeler did nothing wrong, he wouldn’t be afraid of Mrs. Kiara’s scrutiny! You mustn’t tell him! If you do, that proves you’re no good either!”
Whenever Mrs. Kiara’s affairs were involved, Isaac, who was usually quiet, became visibly agitated.
Second Brother silently observed Isaac for several seconds, feeling a sour bubbling up in his heart.
Isn’t his daughter-in-law supposed to be a gentle and virtuous woman? Why does she get so worked up at the mention of Emma Clark as if injected with chicken blood?
“Alright, let’s go inside.”
“Not conspiring to tip someone off anymore?”
“Tip off what? Weren’t you just playing for time? I bet Kiara’s already on her way up there, it’s too late for a phone call now.”
Second Brother glanced at Isaac, who lowered his head and sneakily stuck out his tongue, proving that Second Brother knew everything.
Upon unlocking the door with her key, Kiara’s first sight was that man preparing to jump out of the window!
“Dare to run, and never come back home again!”
This shameless wretch, relying on his agility, still thinking of escaping from such a high floor?
As soon as Edward Wheeler heard the key in the lock, he had been ready to make a run for it, only to be caught red-handed by his wife, forcing him to turn around with a sheepish grin on his face.
“Haha… Honey, what a, what a coincidence!”
He wondered why his eyelids had been twitching all day; even on the phone he said his wife, who was supposed to be out of town, suddenly showed up.
At that moment, Edward Wheeler had only one thought – he was definitely going to die a grisly death this time.
Kiara’s gaze swept over her former home.
The house was tidy, with the scent of a freshener in the air and many cans of canned food placed on the coffee table. Her lying husband was awkwardly crouching on the balcony, seemingly ready to jump out and escape at any moment.
She did not see the rumored Sandra; what kind of ‘Beautiful Lady’ was hidden in this golden nest?
“Not so coincidentally, I saw a man who claimed to be at the company drive right past me, naturally, I had to come and see for myself.”
Kiara strode directly into the house, and Edward Wheeler hurried over to explain.
“Honey! Hear me out! There’s a reason for all this!”
“Oh, what kind of reason would make you lie to me?” Kiara was already preparing to push the bedroom door open.
Edward Wheeler stood in front of her.
“Honey, you have to promise, no matter what you see when you open this door, you can’t get angry–at least, even if you get angry, you can’t leave home or abandon me!”
At this point, he probably couldn’t keep the fire under wraps any longer, he just hoped for lenient treatment from his wife.
“If you dared to hide it, you shouldn’t be afraid of me finding out. Get out of my way!” Seeing him act like this, Kiara felt even more certain that he was guilty and, in a fit of rage, she pushed him aside with divine help, swinging the door open so forcefully that it banged against the wall.
Now everything was ruined!
Edward Wheeler couldn’t bear to look and turned around to light a candle for himself in silence.
“The issue with the ‘Beautiful Lady’ is not that I didn’t want to tell you, I thought you wouldn’t agree or be happy, so I temporarily brought her here.”
Kiara scanned the room and did not see the rumored ‘Beautiful Lady.’ Hearing his words only infuriated her further.
“You’ve been keeping a ‘Beautiful Lady’ in our house, and you ask if I can stay calm?! Using my house to keep all these messes, you’re truly despicable!” Although she hadn’t seen Sandra anywhere, the man’s reckless explanation made her blood boil.
Kiara turned around, ready to slap Edward Wheeler, when suddenly, something tugged at the hem of her dress.
Goodness, could it be that Sandra was daring enough to come out and help? Kiara, fueled by rage, spun around, but instead of seeing a stunning beauty, what she saw was only a–
“Dog?!”
