Chapter 24: Chapter 24 Passed Out
Later on, Jiang Xue discovered a hidden world. It turned out that behind the house, there was a small courtyard, and next to the courtyard, there were several rooms, one of which was the kitchen.
"The things you wanted are here. Wait for me a moment, I’ll go get a rabbit," said the Little Fox, and with a whizzing sound, it vanished without a trace.
Jiang Xue had initially wanted to ask why she had been unable to see such a large courtyard before. However, the Little Fox ran so fast she decided to let it go.
She checked in the kitchen and found that there were all kinds of seasonings, and there was a pile of firewood too; they only lacked the meat.
In no time, the Little Fox returned, with a gray rabbit in its mouth.
"I’ve caught the rabbit; the rest is up to you," said the Little Fox, then jumped onto a nearby stool and started dozing off.
"Where’s the water?" Jiang Xue looked at the rabbit in front of her, then at the Little Fox who seemed to have already fallen asleep, and asked.
"In the courtyard!" the Little Fox replied faintly with just three words and then ignored Jiang Xue, falling asleep for real.
Knowing where the water was, Jiang Xue didn’t disturb it further. She went straight to the courtyard and indeed saw a large water jar.
Half a piece of bamboo was placed over the jar, with a small stream of water flowing through the bamboo chute into the large jar.
Seeing this, Jiang Xue realized the water in the jar was spring water flowing down from the mountain. She scooped some water out and then squatted beside it to process the rabbit.
When it came to cooking, Jiang Xue was quite skilled. So, in no time, she had the rabbit all cleaned up.
Having prepared the rabbit, Jiang Xue salted it a bit and then set it over the fire to roast.
After half an hour, the rabbit emitted a fragrant aroma. The Little Fox, who had been asleep, suddenly opened its eyes, staring intently at the rabbit roasting over the fire.
Smelling the aroma, not only the Little Fox but even Jiang Xue couldn’t help salivating. Come to think of it, she hadn’t eaten meat in a long time.
Though the Mu Family’s living conditions were good, meat was still seldom consumed. Even when she was pregnant, the most she got was an egg a day.
Soon, the rabbit was roasted to perfection. Jiang Xue removed the meat, cut it into pieces, and placed them in a bowl beside her. She kept a rabbit leg for herself and gave the rest to the Little Fox.
With food in front of it, the Little Fox did not fuss, devouring everything regardless of whether it was a leg, head, or waist.
Having gobbled up the rabbit, it still wanted more. It had been a long time since it last ate roasted meat.
"Not bad," the Little Fox complimented Jiang Xue after wiping its mouth.
Jiang Xue didn’t speak much more but looked at the Little Fox and said, "Now that you’ve eaten your fill, shouldn’t you tell me what’s going on with my body?"
The Little Fox understood what she was asking and replied, "Come on, let’s go to that room, I’ll show you something."
Jiang Xue followed the Little Fox back to the room with the painting, and then she saw the Little Fox press on the ground, causing a small square box to pop out from the wall.
The Little Fox picked up the box and handed it to Jiang Xue, saying, "Take a look for yourself."
There were no mechanisms on the box, and when Jiang Xue opened it, she found a crystal-clear, transparent pearl inside. The moment she saw the pearl, a dazzling light suddenly emitted from it and shot into her mind.
As the light entered, Jiang Xue’s vision went black, and she fainted completely.
