With the aunt bullying Li Shiping like that and seeing Li Shiping’s resolve, it seemed as if she was packing to go back to her parents’ house to complain. The brother might come any minute to stand up for his sister. If they were there, wouldn’t they get caught in the crossfire?

They didn’t check the almanac before coming; they couldn’t stay here any longer.

"Aunt, it seems like the cousin and his wife are having a spat. She wouldn’t be packing her things without her child if it weren’t serious. We’re not helping by staying here. We’ll leave now and come back after the couple has settled their issues."
