Chapter 282: Chapter 282 First in Three Subjects 1
Li Qiumei had it all figured out in her mind; once Shen Mianmian was determined to have plagiarized, she would ask her to return the end-of-term progress prize money.
After pondering for a while, the principal sought the opinions of several other teachers and ultimately decided to have Shen Mianmian come over.
After all, with several plagiarism incidents involving her, if it were not verified, it would be difficult to convince the others once the scores were announced.
First place—such a result was too significant.
On a test out of one hundred and twenty points, aside from the essay that hadn’t been scored yet, all the other answers were correct. It wouldn’t be miraculous for a student in the top three of the class, but for a poor student, it was unbelievable.
Chen Jie watched the scene with a bland expression and didn’t make a sound. Hearing that they were going to call Shen Mianmian over, he volunteered, "I’ll go get her."
The principal waved his hand, signaling him to go ahead!
Li Qiumei’s chin was almost poking the ceiling with pride.
The principal found her expression displeasing and urged her, "Come on, set a few questions."
Hearing this, Li Qiumei hurriedly sat down to set questions. With bias, she picked some of the more difficult questions. Seeing this, the other teachers pursed their lips knowingly, thinking that Shen Mianmian was likely to ’step on a nail’ this time.
Even if the questions on the test were all done by Shen Mianmian’s own abilities, it wasn’t certain she could get them all right on Li Qiumei’s set of questions.
Teacher Hu had seen Shen Mianmian doing the test and always felt that she didn’t seem like she had cheated.
A student suddenly becoming enlightened was something he had never seen, but it wasn’t a guarantee it could never happen. Perhaps Shen Mianmian was the exception?
With curiosity, he picked up Shen Mianmian’s language arts test and started to look at it, his eyes immediately drawn to the essay at the end that hadn’t been scored yet.
The more he read, the more admiration filled his eyes, and he couldn’t help but exclaim, "This essay is well written. Out of a full score of forty, it can certainly get at least thirty-five."
Upon hearing this, the principal and other teachers also gathered to look, discussing Shen Mianmian’s essay.
"This personification here is very well used, elegant yet refined. None of the students in our class have this level of skill," one of the teachers pointed at a part in the essay and said.
"This sentence is also good," another teacher said, repeating a line from the essay.
As Li Qiumei listened, her face grew increasingly unpleasant. After the other teachers had discussed for a few moments, they asked her with curiosity.
"Ms. Li, did she plagiarize her essay from someone else?"
If the essay had been plagiarized, would she still need to come up with questions to prove Shen Mianmian cheated?
But Li Qiumei obviously wouldn’t express such favor toward Shen Mianmian, so she said irritably, "I haven’t looked at the essay yet."
Her tone was a bit sharp, and the teacher who had asked the question put down the test paper with an embarrassed look.
"Principal, Shen Mianmian is here," Chen Jie said, bringing Shen Mianmian in.
"Good day, Principal; good day, teachers."
Shen Mianmian gave a polite bow to everyone.
Her appearance left a good impression on the teachers.
The principal’s face, previously grim, changed to a wrinkled smile, "Shen Mianmian, Ms. Li has prepared a few questions for you. Please do them."
Shen Mianmian blinked, thinking to herself, the principal was the principal indeed, a sly old fox.
He didn’t mention the cheating, so even if she got the answers right, it would still be a good way to end the matter.
Shen Mianmian, not being pretentious and without asking why, took the ballpoint pen that Li Qiumei passed to her and prepared to answer the questions, but Li Qiumei had no intention of giving up her seat for Shen Mianmian to sit down.
Seeing this, Chen Jie said, "Shen Mianmian, sit at my place to write."
