Chapter 262: Chapter 262 Rescue

"Nan Ge, what do we do now?"

Li Yue looked at He Nan.

"Get out of the car."

He Nan pushed the car door open and stepped out, glanced at the ground, and headed straight for the small path to the right.

Li Yue hurriedly followed suit. He had noticed the distinct ruts on the road, likely left by that wooden cart.

Those three were on foot and they had been driving, so they must be close by. He Nan had obviously realized this too, and they both quickened their pace without a word.

After passing a village, they indeed saw the three figures walking ahead.

"Damn it, those two city folks are following us," muttered Xu Haiyang, feeling uneasy for some reason. When he looked back, he saw the two city dwellers from earlier were actually chasing after them.

Shen Mianmian’s heart leaped with joy upon hearing this, but before she could smile, Dazhu knocked her out with a quick strike of his hand.

Gouzi panicked and started to run with the wooden cart. Xu Haiyang followed suit.

But Dazhu said, "You go hide in a village ahead. I’ll stop them."

"Be careful," Xu Haiyang called over his shoulder as he ran without stopping.

As long as those two city folks didn’t catch up to them and didn’t know what was inside, Dazhu would be fine. At worst, he’d take a beating.

All three thought the same thing.

What they hadn’t counted on was that the two men were trained fighters. They quickly overpowered the towering Dazhu and caught up with them in no time.

Since they were caught, Xu Haiyang and Gouzi stopped running and calmed down. "Why are you following us?" they asked coolly.

Li Yue retorted, "Why are you running?" It was clear they had a guilty conscience.

"We run if we want to," Gouzi said defiantly, annoyed at these city folks who wouldn’t stay put in the city and came meddling in rural affairs.

Li Yue snorted, hands on hips, chin gesturing towards the sack in the cart, "What’s in the sack?"

"Sheep," answered Xu Haiyang, patting the sack. "A fat sheep."

"What kind of sheep is so big it could be a person?" Li Yue clearly didn’t believe him.

"We said it’s a fat sheep. You city people probably don’t know," said Gouzi.

He Nan didn’t want to waste words. He commanded coldly, "Open the sack."

Gouzi and Xu Haiyang jumped, startled. They had been focused on Li Yue speaking and hadn’t paid much attention to He Nan. Now that he spoke up, they realized this guy was more intimidating than the talkative one.

It sent chills down their spines.

They had already seen the two men’s fighting abilities and knew they couldn’t win in a fight.

Dazhu was still lying on the ground, apparently knocked out.

They were already at a physical disadvantage.

But things had progressed to this point, and they couldn’t let the two find Shen Mianmian in the sack, or it would be all over.

Thinking this, Xu Haiyang steeled his heart and tried to scare them away. "Inside is really a fat sheep, just slaughtered. If you don’t believe me, I’ll give it a slap and you can see if it’s a sheep."

After saying that, he raised his fist and swung it towards where Shen Mianmian’s neck would be, fully intending to break her neck with the blow.

But before his hand could reach Shen Mianmian, he felt a sharp pain in his wrist. As he cried out in pain, He Nan had him pinned against the wooden cart in a swift move.

"You’re trying to rob us, right?" Gouzi shouted out of fear.

He didn’t dare resist against such skill.

He Nan ignored him, giving Li Yue a look. Li Yue instantly got the hint, went over to the cart, and started to open the sack. Gouzi moved to stop him but was met with a piercing glance from He Nan, and he immediately backed down.
