When Ruan Lingyu approached, Fu Hua and another society lady immediately ended their conversation and spoke with her. Ruan Lingyu chipped in a few words and then suggested to Fu Hua,

"Let’s go talk over there and leave the younger ones to have their fun!"

Fu Hua glanced at Shen Mianmian, looking somewhat concerned, "Mianmian isn’t familiar with them..."

Before she could finish speaking, Ruan Lingyu interrupted her, "Doesn’t Mianmian know Xining? Let them have fun together. Young people integrate quickly, so we shouldn’t interfere."

Another society lady, unaware of the conflict among them, immediately agreed, "Yes, let the young girls have their fun together!"

Fu Hua shot a look at Ruan Lingyu, unsure of her intentions. She knew that Xining and Mianmian weren’t on good terms, and Ruan Lingyu’s intent seemed deliberate, was she trying to put Mianmian in a difficult position?

"Aunt Fu, you go ahead and chat! I’ll go get some dessert." Shen Mianmian spoke up, not wanting to cause any difficulties for Fu Hua, and looked for something to occupy herself with.

Fu Hua, upon hearing this, nodded, "If you feel bored later on, come and join me."

After all, it was Shen Mianmian’s first time attending such an event, and since she didn’t know many people, Fu Hua didn’t expect her to acclimate all at once. She merely wanted to introduce her to some new faces and have her make an appearance before them.

"Alright."

Shen Mianmian nodded and headed towards the food area.

Ruan Lingyu, seeing their amicable interaction, felt even worse, especially since Shen Mianmian acted as though she didn’t recognize her, which irritated her more, but she couldn’t say anything about it.

Shen Mianmian didn’t pay any attention to Ruan Lingyu’s mood, nor did she want to. Picking up a plate, she chose a dessert and was turning around when she saw a beautiful young woman approaching with two glasses of red wine in hand.

"Miss Shen."

The young woman smiled broadly and said, "Miss Shen, you probably don’t know me, do you? My name is Luo Jingjing, I’m a good friend of Xining."
