Chapter 324: Chapter 324: She Got Rounder

Granny Lu’s beloved granddaughter, sternly nourished with soups and meats every day, insisted on replenishing the blood she had lost, which also benefitted Jian Zhiqing as he enjoyed good food and drinks at home, having meat and eggs every day, even Qin Xiangyang was replenished until his face was oily.

"Brother, you can’t eat any more," Qin Xiangnuan was scared just seeing Qin Xiangyang’s belly, fearing he could eat no more, otherwise even a general’s belly would emerge.

He was a soldier, and when he returned, he feared the drill sergeant would scold him to death.

"I think so too," Qin Xiangyang touched his belly, "Well, it’s alright, I exercise daily with Brother Jian, so we won’t get fat. But as for you," Qin Xiangyang pinched his sister’s cheek, "you’ve become much plumper recently."

Qin Xiangnuan felt like crying; did he really think she wanted to become round?

Eating every day without exercise, it would be strange if she didn’t get round.

As for the matters of the Qin Family, she didn’t get involved. After all, according to Aunt Hua, Qin Guohua dared not even go outside now mainly because the police had arrived. Everyone in the village was watching keenly; the car parked right at the Qin’s door and several policemen in uniforms stepped out claiming to come for an investigation.

Later, even though the incident was dismissed inconclusively, Qin Guohua insisted it was an accident and complained about his daughter’s disobedience. Naturally, Qin Xiangnuan couldn’t rely on him. Though he wasn’t arrested, secretly, the villagers whispered that he was trying to seize someone else’s property, now no one in the village wanted to deal with him; even during land distribution, they dreaded being grouped with him, fearing another accidental death caused by Qin Guohua.

Everyone in the village always knew, Qin Guohua was not a good person, treating his own children so harshly, let alone strangers. While he hadn’t done anything openly egregious, his reputation was ruined. Gradually, the villagers didn’t want any contact with him, even his previously close friends had cut ties, essentially blackening Qin Guohua’s name in Dadao Village. Even the girls from the school that used to be friends with Qin Xiangmei now kept their distance, calling Qin Guohua no good, fearing he might chop somebody with a knife if displeased.

Everyone clearly saw the police car arrive.

Now, Qin Guohua couldn’t bother Qin Xiangnuan; he couldn’t even sort out his own affairs.

Profits were down in the fields, and his reputation in the village rotted.

He was exhausted managing these troubles, how could he care about Qin Xiangyang and his siblings; originally, he had planned for them to support Qin Pengfei, since Qin Xiangyang’s schooling was free, the money would ultimately be spent by Qin Pengfei. But now, tables have turned on him.

Hu Li had tried to intervene, but seeing Qin Xiangyang’s murderous look scared her, and she returned home to quarrel with Qin Guohua, calling him weak and hopeless, questioning how she married such a man who couldn’t even control his own children, what kind of a man was he, just be a useless man.

At these words, Qin Guohua also lost his temper, and the two began hurling dishes and bowls. Hu Li didn’t realize Qin Guohua had long been made a fool, as he had sworn and cursed before, vowing if he ever approached the Qin siblings again, he’d be a useless man.

The mishap was all for who else but Qin Pengfei, the son not of his own blood, and now the blame fell on him; Hu Li was uneasy, could Qin Guohua truly keep all his frustrations bottled up?

They say poor marriages lead to decline in all areas, and this truly applied to Qin Guohua and his spouse, causing disturbance to Qin Pengfei and Qin Xiangmei. Qin Pengfei was about to enter university and was currently worried about his tuition fees. Qin Xiangmei felt ashamed in front of her classmates and blamed Qin Guohua in her heart.

Really, he was of no use at all.

These messy family affairs of the Qin family were not related to Qin Xiangyang and his siblings. Granny Lu had figured it out now; as long as the children were unwilling, no one could force these matters on her head anymore. After all, she was just an old woman who was fortunate to have lived this long. Both children were growing up in the Capital City, capable of living independently. If Qin Guohua ever thought about troubling the children again, he would have to step over her dead body first.

Qin Xiangnuan stayed at home for a few days, then visited the hospital once more. The doctor said it was nothing serious and that she could go home. It was only then that Jian Zhiqing began preparing to take the Qin siblings back to the Capital City; after all, both of them needed to continue their studies, and studying could not be delayed.

Granny Lu was already worried about the children, and now that Qin Xiangnuan had stayed in the hospital again, she decided to settle things here and then go to find the children. As for the local business, she had handed it all over to Granny Hua, who had been helping her out for so long and was capable of managing on her own.

When Qin Xiangnuan returned to the Capital City, Jian Zhiqin and Taotao came over upon hearing the news. Seeing the gauze wrapped around Qin Xiangnuan’s head, Taotao cried pitifully, making it unbearable to watch.

Qin Xiangnuan hugged the little chubby boy, comforting him.

"Sister is fine," she had just bumped her head, "it will be better in a few days."

"Really?" Taotao sniffled, wiping his nose with his sleeve.

Qin Xiangnuan grabbed his little paw, "Sister told you before, don’t use your sleeve to wipe your nose, don’t you have a handkerchief?" She took out a clean handkerchief from Taotao’s small pocket, though the sleeve ends were shiny from being used to wipe his nose, almost capable of striking a match.

Taotao sheepishly looked at his own small fingers, then raised his tender face, which was truly adorable.

"I forgot,"

He pouted slightly, sniffled again, and was just about to use his sleeve to wipe his nose when he remembered something, took the handkerchief from Qin Xiangnuan’s hand, and wiped his nose.

Qin Xiangnuan rubbed the top of his head and planned to change his clothes shortly.

She always liked cleanliness and insisted on the same for the children under her care, not letting them get as dirty as if they had crawled out from the ground.

This was also why the Ye Family was willing to leave the little chubby boy in her care.

Every time they saw the little boy, he was clean and tender. Moreover, Qin Xiangnuan especially enjoyed making clothes for children, creating one piece after another, always coming up with different designs, making the little guy quite popular among peers and teachers in the kindergarten. Of course, when Qin Xiangnuan went to pick up the child, she never forgot to bring a small gift for the teacher—not something extravagant, just something she made herself. It didn’t really count as a bribe since people back then didn’t overthink gifts, but it naturally resulted in a bit more care for the little chubby boy.
